Haha! Nice to hear both 1st and 2nd throw in the occasional Richie Kotzen barre lick and some Tom Quayle hybrid licks. You can really notice these 'unknown' but great musicians' guitarists like Sfogli, Quayle, Hutchings and Govan have a huge influence on us guitarists.

music being as subjective as it is, its very hard to dip a measure stick in a music contest, with the exception of what?? techniques. Techniques are almost the only way to measure or to judge music contests. They all surely have a variety of techniques under their belt. And, in this perspective, you have to take your hats off. Music is not a competition, but expression. The real winners are the ones that take these contests as a stepping stone.

I thought most of the top 5 deserved to be there, I didn't really agree with Jack Gardiner being placed 4th. He has great technique but in my opinion doesn't sound too great over changes, I hear quite a few unsavoury / out of key note choices. A more deserving 4th would of been Martin Wischman.
