you can do this on window media player so much easier:

1. Launch WMP

2. Select an MP3 and play

3. CTRL+3 to show the Now Playing window

4. Right Click in window ----> Visualizations ----> Alienware AlienFX ----> Default

5. Enjoy the AlienFX Light Show.

It's more of a desktop replacement. With the hardware they are equipped with you're lucky to squeeze two hours from that. The fact that its a powerful laptop makes people like me who are in college with a small amount of room to work with able to have a gaming rig and still have room on our desk to do the shit we gotta do.

@dragonsrkule Agreed. I actually take it with me on trips (massive backpack makes it possible). The first generation comes with 3 GPU's - 2 actual graphics cards and 1 onboard GPU. When on battery, I can switch to onboard GPU and squeeze out 3-4 hours.  Though I can't really game in that situation.

Yes but the keyboard will flash the solid color and then change, you can't have it like a rainbow pulsing style such as in the video.

Sound Energy Factor - all zones at 2.04

Energy Variance - 1-4 at zero; all other zones at 52.00

I have 4 zones - Speakers, Keyboard, Uppers, Numpad

Speakers - Right/Left speakers and Touchpad - set to frequency band 1

Keyboard - Keyboard left, middle-left, middle-right set to frequency bands 13-16

Uppers - Alienhead, Alienware logo - set to bands 29-32

Numpad - Keyboard right set to 21-24
