I just want to say these things might seem uncomfortable to hear at first, but like 3:37 "trembling at His Word",when God speaks its like a two edged sword. Most people hear truth mixed with lies. A funny example: milk chocolate compared to pure dark, olive oil compared to extra virgin, the pure foods (and other pure things) taste bitter because they are not usually eaten. In His Word, He speaks the truth, and its our responsibility to change because we are separated away from Messiah Yeshua.
The problem I have is that THE Law is the Ten Commandments not the man's law and ordinances you speak of. Follow Jesus Christ. Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees!
@JASONANDTRACI um....growing your beard is a command from the bible. it's all over leviticus 19:27. god is holy and commands us to be holy. ever notice you NEVER seen an evangelical with a beard? yet god has said that the beard makes us holy. your comment is obviously made out of ignorance.
@jamnat7 - the letter killed because it brought condemnation without a way to overcome. The Spirit was given to overcome. not to "hear voices". The only voice we are to hear is the same voice from the beginning who has been telling his people the same thing. What Paul was relating is the majesty that shone on Moses when he came down from Mt. Sinai... the veil was removed and now the glory could shine from those who had the Spirit.
@jamnat7 - you are forgiven for having a bitter spirit. Keep in mind Paul also said elsewhere that we should provoke one another to good works. Again - what established "good works" in Paul's mind? The standard set by Torah.
@jamnat7 - are you sure of what "under the law" means? The Spirit was given us to remind us of God's words... it cannot contradict it. Also - how do you love your neighbor? According to Leviticus 19 (and Yeshua's words in the gospels) - the Torah teaches you how to love your neighbor. If you walk by the Spirit - you won't violate the Torah... That's what Paul was saying. Where would he get the idea that witchcraft or lasciousness was wrong? In the epistles of Romans he said the Torah.
@jamnat7 - anyone who does anything contrary to God's instruction is in rebellion against Him... if you don't understand that then I don't know what to say. Yes I have done some of the things listed... and I know I am worthy of death... that's why I can receive the gift of salvation and a new life... so that I could repent - which means to turn away from my rebellion. What you call a "stupid argument" is actually the foundation of our relationship with God.
@jamnat7 - if you can't grown one that is not sin... the prohibition is for those who can and do. you must "rightly divide the word of truth". You can make a mock at the instructions of God if you want... but I won't be a part of it. The apostle Paul clearly stated it's shameful for a man to have long hair (commonly known among the Hebrews). The Torah clearly says not to put markings on your body. To quote Paul's words to the Corinthians "examine yourself to see if you be in the faith".
@jamnat7 - 1 Timothy 1:9 the proper translation should be the law is not handed down or exercised for the righteous...but for the lawless and disobedient. In other words... only those that rebel are punished under the law. You can look it up in your concordance. Paul was saying that those who obey don't have to worry about consequences of punishment.
All the Scriptures in the Torah concerning the beard has to do with marring the beard for the dead like cutting the flesh for the dead. The Bible doesnt say we must keep our beards, the Bible says we should not cut our beards or flesh for the dead.
WOW i always read that verse of the beard and the men that were humiliated, i never thought about that. i like to have beard but im only 19 therefore doesnt grow that well/fast, but im definatly growing one once I can. people will probably start calling me legalistic, I dont care, i love YAHSHUA with all my soul, mind and strength and I LOVE AND ADMIRE HIS TORAH, I was Brazilian but now a hebrew bought by the blood of YAHSHUA! HALLELUYAH! THANK YOU YAHSHUA!
These guys beards looks great! Especially the mustache being so thick and full. I say as long as the beards are trimmed and never shaped into a goatee, then a man can look great with a beard. But short hair does not look with a beard as the hair needs to be a bit longer. A mustache alone looks good with short hair. I wear a beard as it looks great on me!
interesting...the king had 1/2 their beards cut off because he was in mourning over his father's death. In that time they all shaved their beards while mourning. In context, YHVH's people are told not to shave if it's done only for mourning purposes. That's why the king didn't believe David's men - they all had full beards appeared as spies & not a consolation party. Beard shaving was prescribed during purification for certain people in Torah. 1:20 I wouldn't say a man w/o a beard is impure.
I can't grow a beard, I've tried. My Chickasaw heritage is too dominant; I have a natural goatee line, so that's all I can grow. Everything else grows in patchy and it looks horrid lol
If I am missing a scripture somewhere please let me know. Having a beard is certainly the way the Father wanted us (He made us this way).
I simply cannot find this commandment you are talking about that forbids cutting the beard... Unless you are talking about the one that says not to cut the hair between the eyes, the hair on the side of your head, and the sides of your beard, and this one was in doing it to mourn the dead.
@faxchase The only verse I know is Vayikra/Leviticus 19:27: "'You shall not round off the hair on your temples or mar the edges of your beard.'" It didn't indicate because of mourning for the dead. It just says it. But I can see how it would imply to not mourn for the dead in this way because people had done it then.
@faxchase So you think that the first verse is in conjunction with the last one talking about the dead? I think we must be careful with these thigns because if you read a lot of these social and physical laws in the Torah many verses have nothing to do with the verse behind it or after it. It's just sort of thrown in there. That COULD very well be the case with this. Nevertheless, there is evidence showing that men did in fact trim their beards and shave all their head for foreign gods.
In regards to the section around 3:00, what about cutting the borders of hair on the neck?
The scritpture on marring the beard was given to them forbidding them to do it honoring a false deity. This scripture also says not to cut the corners of the hair on your head!
This is hypocritical to say it's wrong to cut your beard and then cut the hair on your head when the same scripture says not to.
This all said I do think it's good to have a beard, it's the way Yahuwah made us.
The command is in regards to mourning for the dead... If it were a command there wouldn't be a command to shave if it becomes colored, or the nazarite vow... It creates contradiction if you hold to this & you also have to take scripture out of context.
It is honorable & good to have a beard and I do not argue this...
That said there is no command in regarding shaving the beard unless you are speaking about the one that said not to do it when MOURNING FOR THE DEAD.
@faxchase - not true.. men are not supposed to have long hair... only women. Conversely, men are not supposed to shave their heads bald either (which was a pagan practice for worship).
@jamnat7 Re: 1 Tim 1:9, we know from Romans 3 that not a single one of us is good, hence the Torah sets boundaries so we know what righteousness is. In Hebrews 7:11 you need to look at the context. The change in the Law is a change in the instructions for Levitical priests.
Now you need to try and rectify your theology with statements such as Yeshua's in Matthew 5:17-19, Paul's in Romans 3:31, John's in 1 John 5:3, & Peter's in 2 Peter 3:17 (warning about twisting Paul's words into lawlessness)
@jamnat7 As for Romans 8, the theme is similar, talking about how true Torah observance is only by the Spirit which frees us again from sinful nature and death (v2). The flesh by itself cannot observe Torah. Only with the Most High can we observe Torah but the renewing work of His Spirit. For this to work though, we have to be open to His Spirit's work through obedience based on our faith in Messiah. Without faith, without His Spirit, it is only dead works. Shabbat shalom my friend!
In Hebrews 8 if you're thinking of 13 in regards to Torah Observance, the context is Jeremiah 31:31-34, so what is near to disappearing is the sinful nature of man that breaks Torah, not the standard of Torah. Disobedience to the first covenant vanishes through renewal in Messiah. The (re)new(ed) covenant in Messiah builds upon the foundation of the earlier covenants. It does not nullify or replace them.
Whoa, I've had the same thing happen, in regards to trimming my beard (see 7:45). Yah always sends someone to say "hey, I love the beard!" and then the thought of trimming immediately leaves my mind.
Those are some VERY gorgeous beards...man I wish my beard would eventually do that. Im 25 and my beard has looked the same since I was about 21-22. It grows to a certain length and it stops just like my eyebrows stop at a certain length. I wish itd grow like theirs...I truly think it will when I get older...we'll see huh. I always did admire beards and mustaches...well not always(I thought they were funny when I was little) but I fell in love with them when I came to the Lord.
@jamnat7 the "old covenant" is the eternal covernant of the almighty and is renewed by yeshua. How canhis law be replaced if the almighty labels it as being valid eternally? Please answer just this question cause if told that a lot of christians and they din´t respond to this. Wonder why??:-)
matthew 20 says that if i am not better than the pharisees who taught talmud and oppressed people while they didnt keep the torah themselves. I never said beard is enough but if you don´t keep the commandments and have faith you wont enter it that is what matthew says.and how can you have the original language living in you. And i know the father thus i love him by keeping the torah. my neighbour doesnt profit if i say i love you but if i love him by fulfilling my duties towards him
@jamnat7 the law is in your heart if you are grafted into israel and keep it. Yeshua came to turn us into the status of genesis 1,27 which means that we are purified from the evil we have done. Since we still can distinct between good and evil and since heaven and earth (luke 16,17) are still here the "law" is what we have to keep and you can not prove the opposite with the translated bible verses cause we need to understand the original language and the context. And love means to keep the law.
Lol what dogma controls and limits Gods unlimited power to be anything one wants to be that doesn't hurt others. Only the devil wants to limit all the possibilities of God. Why the insulting Talmud use of the goy that all non jews are just cattle.
@ssssaaafff because what you just said is complete nonsense. The word goy means nation and in the bible the nation of israel is refered to as goy as well. But i agree the talmud is an evil book. Apart from that shaving is forbidden by the creator and as we the believers try to please him we follow what he says. May he forgive me and all my brothers and sisters.
@AVtheeEvangelist the blessed apostle shaul is the most misinterpreted and misquoted man on this planet. If he said that we´d know that he is a deceiver. Luckily this is not what is being said ine original scriptures and the context is also important. Message me if you are interested in further information. And may the almighty guide you to the truth. I´d like to have a new brother in faith.
@LawrenceofIsrael If Paul said that he would not be a deceiver, if you use the Law to justify yourself then Christ died in vain for you, and you have fallen from grace, Paul wrote that also by the way
@AVtheeEvangelist no cause messiah said in matthew 5 17-20 the direct opposite. It is you who messiah died in vain for who use grace as an excuse to sin. Otherwise am i permitted to steal, murder, commit adultery?? Probably not although this is all from the "law". and in the original text not the translation and if you also consider the context you´ll not find that the "law" was done away with. In romans shaul even answers to that question with the words:" God forbid":
@AVtheeEvangelist and that is what christians always do. You read to verse 18 and stop to support your anti torah teachings.if you continue reading you´ll see that like it is also said in luke 16, 17 it is easier that heaven and earth shall pass away than one jot of the law being taken away. And i ask once again. Am i permitted to steal, murder, covet etc? If not why not?? this is from the law but you said i am free from the law and just gotta have faith.
@LawrenceofIsrael Brother your not understanding the context of the passage, not one Jot shall pass away till Jesus will fulfil it, read it again and you will understand, Jesus fulfilled this on the cross as I have already showed you, the new covenant is not the same as the old you need to understand that, the works of the law do not justify us anymore, if circumsion is not needed how then can we keep the law? We are not justified by the Law, you need to understand the Bible as a whole.
@AVtheeEvangelist you´re right messiah fulfilled what we did not. but matthew says: 19Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
CONTINUING: and this is only one verse. Yes we are saved by grace which is what gets us out of "prison" but if you are saved from prison and commit a crime again what is going to happen?? you´ll go back to prison again. It is said that if we love yeshua we´ll keep his commandments and his yoke is sweet and light.
The "messianic" brothers and sisters love yeshua more than their lifes and thus we keep what he kept to please our creator. and everybody is invited to join this covenant.
@AVtheeEvangelist - you are incorrect... it does not say not one jot or tittle will fail until Jesus fulfilled on the cross. All in the Torah and the prophets has NOT been fulfilled and will not be until He comes again and the Father puts all enemies under His foot.
@LawrenceofIsrael Gal.5[4] Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
Galatians 2 [21] I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness
come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Romans 7[4] Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
The beard issue seems to have taken on a life of it's own. I've watched your videos on this. I agree that our Creator did create beards. This gentleman sees fit to "groom" his and it looks like he has pride in his appearance. An ungroomed look is not ok our culture. Paul, maybe you should consider grooming your beard so that you look like you take pride in what Yashua gave you. We live in the world, we are not of it. Our Lord did not try to stick out like a sore thumb when he walked the earth.
@julietesterman - "pride" is never a good word in the scripture. men should not "take pride" in their appearance - but be thankful and obedient. I personally trim my beard strictly because of my profession. I am "jealous" of those who can just let their's grow fully. Be humble is the complete opposite of taking pride. Taking pride in appearance brings about vanity. I am also pretty sure that's part of the reason God told us not to shave off our beards. It was a pagan vanity to do so.
Externals are a witness. TzitZit is the same. Our intent is to honor the Creator, but the world sees. This opens the door to spreading the message of Yahshua and His Torah.
Blessings Paul! Perfect video...you should add this to the BG list of videos. Perfect!

@LawrenceofIsrael Matthew 5:17-18
[17] Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to FULFIL.
[18] For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, TILL ALL BE FULFILLED.
When did Jesus Fulfil the Law brother?
Colossians 2:14
[14] Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Pleas respond especially to that.

AVtheeEvangelist 1 year ago

@AVtheeEvangelist - colossians 2:14 is not talking about the Torah itself. It was for our good... so how could it be "against us"?

A razor hasn't touched my face since I was 18 years old. It's great! More time in the morning to pray.

Externals are a witness. TzitZit is the same. Our intent is to honor the Creator, but the world sees. This opens the door to spreading the message of Yahshua and His Torah.
