Hi, are your lenses in contact with iris or just behind it ? next week I will have my lenses, of the latter I wrote to you. everything ok with yours? thank you.
omg i would love too get this done. daily contacts bug me, and my glasses they make me feel dizzy all the time.but i dont think im suitable for this either, cause i have whats called lazy eye!!! or can i???
I had this surgery. we did one eye per day, and it took only 15 minutes per eye-maybe less. i was on a valium, so i was awake, but my eye was numbed. i couldn't feel a thing besides the direct pressure put on my eye by the instruments. absolutely no pain during or after, with only a 2/3 day recovery for vision. 1-2 months for the eye. i see better than ever, even with contacts or glasses from before, because the natural shape of my cornea is maintained.i see the 20/15 line. best surgery. period.
I have a family friend who is an ophthalmologist, so i got it for minimal price. i didn't pay for anything except the for the lenses themselves, and the equipment, including the before and after stuff. it all ran me about 3000. usually, the finance lady there said, it costs just over six thousand. oh, and since it is new, there is not one single insurance company who will cover it...yet.
What exactly is 'ocular trauma?' also you say after a few weeks but could I box without headgear in a few months? also how do you know this information?
it is a very thin lens implant. And yes, after a few weeks, you could resume boxing, although I would recommend head-gear and avoidance of direct ocular trauma.
I got this surgery done (free, thanks US Army!) about a year ago, and it's been a fantastic decision. I'd been fussing with corrective lenses for near two decades.
Wow do I love my glasses now!

Is this a more or less permanent solution? What happens if vision worsens in the future?

How about patients who develop cataract or glaucoma after the implant , won't they complicate things further?

Why not just do refractive lens exchange?

Do you tell your older (>50 y.o.) patients that they are going to need cataract surgery anyways in a few years?

You know how your eyes get worse over the years, having to up your prescription every so often.
So this procedure implants a lens, will that lens need to be replaced down the road?
kullprit 2 years ago

when doing this freaking surgery, are u awake? does it hurt?

the body is awake, the eye is asleep. The vast majority of patients say that there is absolutely no pain with this surgery or after.

Is it an actual lens they put in or something else?
Also this may sound stupid but would I still be able to box if I had this done?

What is the approximate cost of this operation per eye?
dhong002 2 years ago
approximately $5000, all inclusive
ceiol 2 years ago
@dhong002
in Italy (i will do next week) the cost is 4500 euro per eye (about 5000 USD); but I suppose that abroad the cost may be greater

Does your eye heal?
xDeadCryx 3 years ago
yes, the eye heals very quickly with most patients seeing 20/20 the same day,

I've been told that the Lumera microscope makes it super easy to determine patency of an intra-operative PI. Have you found that to be the case?
buxster99 3 years ago
yes, just put the Lumera into SCI mode and you'll see a bright red reflex via the PI which confirms patency.
ceiol 3 years ago
Do you do an intra-operative PI normally? Or with a YAG laser?
buxster99 3 years ago
im having this done hopefully within the next month or two
