  • musica immortale.bach.il gigante .

  • I played viola for about ten years before an injury forced me to stop playing. My most treasured musical memory, by far, is performing this work and reaching the point at 4:30 when the rest of the ensemble drops away and the violas have their wonderful acrobatic solo. Even now it makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck! The only thing more wonderful than listening to Brandenburg 3 is experiencing its architecture from the inside, as a player.

  • Where is that place???

  • Just wonderful. Beautiful setting, excellent musicians, and of course, Bach. Thank you for uploading this marvelous video. I enjoyed it so very much.

  • Magnificent performance!

Thank you for sharing this gem.

  • What's the name of the woman in the harpsichord? sorry for my english

  • This hot stuff.

  • The piece sounds quite different when played by orchestra than by a smaller ensemble. When 7 or 8 play B3 has a classicalized country dance feel whereas here it sounds like a Gluck style overture. Part of this is surely Richter's doing but the contrast is interesting. The small ensemble may be more authentic but the large one is more impressive.

  • @earlyspring3177 it might also be the interpretation. I noticed the majority of the notes are played in a more legato style than baroque music is usually played in. I also noticed some interesting use of dynamics that typically aren't part of the piece are present. Regardless, they're effective, and the added legato does add a little grandeur to the piece, though it's actually against the style of the era.

  • My favorite movement of this piece!!

  • Equalled by Mozart? I Wouldn't draw such comparison between the two. Completely different styles and techniques.

  • thank you

  • Sagmal weiß einer wo das ist ?

  • Bach!! es como un orgasmo para mis oidos, al filo de llegar a la perfecta perfeccion, simplemente alucinante.

  • Holy crap, at the beginning look at the right bassist's finger, LOL.

  • Impresionante, delicioso, etc etc

  • Lo maximo

  • Bach's work may have been equalled by Mozart perhaps, but certainly he is unsurpassed.

  • @myroseaccount If you really said "equalled by Mozart" I have but one question for you. Really?... Really?......Reeeeeeallllyy??????.......

  • @myroseaccount i think bach has more consistance than mozart, know what i mean?

  • LOVE this video! It's the only one with Great quality, and perfect speed! I'm playing it with my class and I love hearing this song!

  • Wie wunderbar sind doch diese Aufnahmen aus Richters Zeiten! - Ich liebe sie! :-)

  • Ahh, this piece brings back memories...our small high school strings group played this at a Christmas concert -- hard as hell to get it sounding as good as it did, and we'd been practicing since the beginning of the year -- only to have the 1-minute, 5-note rendition of "Jingle Bells" that the teacher had insisted on get all the applause. Fffffff...dummkopfs.

Irrelevance aside, Bach's Brandenburg No. 3 is awesome, and thanks for posting such a great recording of it!
