You know why we do fireworks? 年(Year) in the past was believed as a vicious animal and people was afraid of it. In New Year Eve people do fireworks to scare it away so we can have good lucks in next year. That's the reason why we have fireworks in New Year's Eve. Nowadays, we know 年(Year) is just a time unit but we still keep the tradition on. Does the explaination make sense?
It is great to see you guys enjoy it. I'm from Beijing by the way. May I ask what the square is it(from 1:14)? Or it's Houhai? and you were standing on the frozen lake?
May this new year bring many opportunities your way, to explore every joy of life and may your resolutions for the days ahead stay firm, turning all your dreams into reality and all your efforts into great achievements.
