no those are tornado warning sirens. They're mainly only in the midwestern states

@Pup1234567, they should be all over the country, even in states that rarely get tornados. Even if they don't occur often, they do occur sometimes. Florida definately needs to get some if they want to be safe. And there are many other states that have them in the South. It seems like Florida is just about the only state that stands out.

When i was 5 I lived in manteno and there were like 50 mini funnel clouds in the sky, the clouds were green, it was hailing the size of softballs and there was 3 inches of water on the ground. and it was windy as hell. So we decided it was a nice day to go to family video and rent a movie. oh and our dogs got so scared it jumped through the window to get inside my house while we were gone.

You guys got lucky. The way that thing was angled, it looked like a straight shot (if not a close one) to your vicinity. Yes, the 1:15 is an actual tornado (i was bored enough to actually look it up). The funnel never touched down though and there was no damage report so im assuming that it was just a jumper.

I went right through the wall cloud on the way from LWC. It was black, then it just looked cloudy. I just LOVE this weather to death! As for 3:50 from a comment earlier there wasn't enough rotation in the cloud for it to be a funnel cloud it has to be spinning almost as fast as a tornado to be a funnel, just cause its moving fast, doesn't mean a funnel, clouds can move up to 100 mph+ if the wind is right w/o a storm, but if its at 100 mph, a storm most likely is present. It looks awesome @ 4:10!

I live and worked in Mokena on this day. When we saw this from the bay doors at Kroll Technologies, I rushed home to the apartments 2 blocks over, next to the train tracks. Everyone croweded into the laundry room - it was a tense moment for all of us. Luckily - all turned out well.
