BEAUTIFUL SONG and BEAUTIFUL and BRILLIANT choice of pics with the song. I cry whenever I hear this song because I miscarried a little girl 10 years ago and her name was Wysteria Dawn.
It's been one of my favourite songs since it I first heard it when it came out...I can't believe it's been that long ago!!! It is a beautiful song. Thank you so much for bringing it forward, beggarsgame!!! ♥
"HOMEFREE" in my estimation is one of the most under-rated first albums from that generation of singer-songwriters.. This and Jimmie Spheeris' "ISLE OF VIEW" were among the best...everything about "Homefree" is magic.
Thank you so much....I love how Dan was able to through his lyrics show us these emotions...the pictures are wonderful I have some of them on my facebook. We all hear what this beauty is.
I met a beautiful stranger who won my heart and played this song to me when we were both 16. We married and had 2 children and then he died at 23 and I can't tell you how much this song brings him back to me. I miss him so and I miss Dan, it's as if Charlie died again, when Dan passed. It hurts still yet it's somewhat conforting. I bet they are jammin' together in heave.
As an black teenager I was kind of raised on r&b, but I always changed the radio station when no one was around. Our school band had a party after the game and the hostess played this song. His voice touched my soul. The song was delicate and piercing at the same time. I couldn't place the music any place on earth. Then Hickory Grove came on and I felt seduced by a man whose image I couldn't see. His music was like an unexpected hug from a beautiful stranger. It was exhilarating. Yes...
I once knew a really precious woman in college who couldn't even accept a kiss. She was starting to love me, but someone must have hurt her badly when she was younger! I'm sorry Tracy! She would tremble as I tried to hug and kiss her! I hope your life is great now! Love, BobbyK
I love this song. I miss Dan and his beautiful music, I saw him in concert at least 7 or 8 times. Everytime is was magical. I cant help but feel incredible sorrow knowing he is gone. At least his music will always live on in all of our hearts. Rest in peace Dan...

This was one of my favorite songs when I was a young teenager. Kinda scares me to know that now, but I understand why. You gave a visual to a piece of my history. This was clearly a labor of love. Thank you
Such an overwhelming and powerful album, with several different creations to make the mind wonder and wander.
But I can never start this CD without hearing this song, no matter how painful the message. It's a feeling begging to come out, but not to consume one's desire for love, after loss of love, but to continue to ponder the amazing feelings taking you up and down as you travel through a life of love around you at times,, and then within you at others.
Well, well done...you did the song justice beautifully. More years ago than I care to remember, when I was in the Army, nearly every night I would put on headphones and listen to either Dan Fogelbergs "Home Free" or Joni Mitchell's "Song to a Seagull." These albums gave me joy when there wasn't a lot of it to be had.
...just riding along watching you drive through the Princeton backroads as you made your deliveries; watching the newness of the blooming wisteria forever will link you to me and this Danny song. (thank you beggarsgame for the awesome vid)
i've seen Dan perform in new haven ct. been a fan since the 70 's. i amost got to drive him once for the limo co. i work for. i told them i'd quit if they didn't let me drive him the next time, but unfortunately there was never another time.
Once in an interview, Dan talked about his dislike for (MTV-like) videos as they don't allow the song to "speak" to the listener individually (experiences, images, etc.). This song certainly holds true to that statement. Taking nothing away from this great tribute, this song (and so many others of Dan's) has and holds so much more meaning. There's something still to be said for simply sitting down and listening - letting the song speak on its own.
How beautiful! In the '70s I was given the gift of an album called Home Free by a musician I had never heard of before: Dan Fogelberg. I'd tell friends of mine about him & this album. No interest was shown, until songs such as "Leader of the Band", etc., were played on the radio. I fell in love with Dan's music immediately, from Home Free through Love in Time. "Wysteria" struck me as hauntingly beautiful. Thank you so much for creating and sharing this. Absolutely beautiful! Five Stars Plus!
Beggar S. Game' . Zat French? Yes, you did it justice. Don't you find it like trying to describe the Mona Lisa? As eloquent as one may be, an homage is really just as close as one might get. Still, your interpretation is as good as I would expect. Well done.
havent heard this song in 27 years..... and it had huge significance for me then.... 27 years and I still miss her.... I guess it will never end..... Dan had a gift for the haunting musical phrase.
Wow this song is amazing my mother's name is Wisteria, and i know she will love this song. I guess my grandparents named her after this song idk where they got her name from, I'll have to send this to my grandparents and aunt. Awesome song
I saw Dan in concert once (Netherlands)and he related that he found a parallel to this song after he had written it about the souls of sexually unfulfilled balarinas who found living male counterparts and danced them to death.I acquired a beautiful painting of a dark whispy chiffon draped dancer that I titled Wysteria so fitting to this very beautiful song.Dans songwriting was from somewhere deep inside all of us and he knew how to touch a part of all our souls that we never knew the pathway to
FOR: TheLastNail :you know what is so strrange?I had just played both the last nail and wysteria on my acoustic before getting online and then got your message! Weird and I have not played the last nail for ages.
That is indeed strange, although I could recount an amazing number of unexplained coincidences in my life. Glad we were on the same wavelength for a while. I'm sure we will be again. Next time sing just a little more slowly...
my Favorite song of his also.. i miss him .. i almost had the chance to drive him for a limo co. i work that he used and I insisted that next time he called i'd be the driver .. well i'm afraid that didn't happen.
This is an absolutely superb video to accompany this exceptionally beautiful and wistful song. The match of images to music would be hard to beat and I have to wonder what it took to find them. Well done.
One play of "Wysteria" on progressive radio...back 35+ years ago...was all it took. I've been a fan ever since. I really thought his music would make him immortal. Maybe it has.
This is my second comment, but I just watched it again and think it is one of the most beautiful mix of Pictures to a Dan Fogelberg song that I've ever seen.
I was going to try and do this, but after seeing this again, it can't be topped! You're the BEST!
Dan dijo que escribió "El río" en ácido. No había un significado especial. Que inicialmente se realizó en la guitarra en la Red Herring café, mientras que ir a la escuela en la Universidad de Illinois, Urbana.
this is the most hauntingly beautiful song I have ever heard. Loggins and Messina's "Pretty Princess" is the only other song I like about as well. I loved this song when Dan first put it out and I still do...even more. Great video representation of a timeless and deep song.
You know, to this day I don't know if I stayed too long or gave up too soon. I really think the latter...you may only feel that way once in a lifetime. "One road is simple acceptance of life, the other road offers sweet peace"...we have to make those choices again and again, and we usaully take the path of least resistance...to our despair, ultimately .
I find the picture at 1:46 especially enchanting. Ominous sky, vulnerable surroundings, mournful overtone; the spirit of the song captured in one moment.
It's so awesome to see and hear from other fans of their interpretations of Dan's songs. I would love to see your interpretation of 'Be On Your Way'...a song that Dan said he always wanted to redo and one that he once said was his mother's favorite.
It is still hard to believe he passed. Jeanne has been kind enough to update some photos on Dan's website...there is a great photo and explanation of Dan ice skating (after his dx and treatment). He looks really great in it..even though he was weakened. Take a look. Greg
Wow!!!! You are on talented individual!! Dan would had loved this!Bravo! Wysteria came about when Dan was visiting a head shop and they sold Incense and there was the fragrance Wysteria. The story goes as he said in a interview,he was under the influence(weed?)and was lying on the floor of a hallway, and this song came to him. Wysteria is a ghost/dead woman. Gee, I never got visions like that!
asquare, thanks for sharing that story on Wysteria... so Dan lies on the floor in hallways too - how so normal and endearing.. even if under the influence since back in the day it was... but I gotta say he must have had some powerful ganga to see visions like that. Maybe Dan just did not want to admit in an interview that it was a psychedelic trip he was on LOL. Thanks for everyones comments and ratings and helping to keep Dan in the EVER ON!
I should add, that this was in his college days. I believe he was going to a friends place(apt.) and they weren't there. He hung out to wait and this is what happened. I have read some good interviews.I love to web surf!Going into the abyss of the internet and pull these articles out are quite fun. I love sharing them with everyone. You can't make this stuff up!!
Wow D, another fantastic video! This song was always so hauntingly sad yet beautiful to me. And Scott was right, the strings on this are perfection. And that high note that Dan hits at Sunrise....turns me to mush at every listen. Thanks D, your images with this song are again outstanding, I've got goosebumps! Big hugs to you and all out there. BB
