  • Such a smarmy commercial before such a tragic song......

  • A true artist and musician! Only the best have such an effect on the memories of those who experience there music. Truely timeless.

  • so miss you, Dan. RIP

  • BEAUTIFUL SONG and BEAUTIFUL and BRILLIANT choice of pics with the song. I cry whenever I hear this song because I miscarried a little girl 10 years ago and her name was Wysteria Dawn.

  • I loved this song forever and am glad to have it any time I need to. It's just how I feel. Love Always!

  • It's been one of my favourite songs since it I first heard it when it came out...I can't believe it's been that long ago!!! It is a beautiful song. Thank you so much for bringing it forward, beggarsgame!!! ♥

  • Nice job....

  • beautiful. you most surely did it justice. i am subscribing. thank you.

  • beautiful. you most surely did it justice. i am subscribing. thank you.

  • "HOMEFREE" in my estimation is one of the most under-rated first albums from that generation of singer-songwriters.. This and Jimmie Spheeris' "ISLE OF VIEW" were among the best...everything about "Homefree" is magic.

  • Happy Birthday, Dan. RIP.♥

  • yippee! i love dan fogelburger! he is a heck of a musician person!

  • Thank you so much....I love how Dan was able to through his lyrics show us these emotions...the pictures are wonderful I have some of them on my facebook. We all hear what this beauty is.

  • I think of someone...

  • We were walking in the garden at Longwood looking at the Wisteria and I was reminded of this song. I hadn't thought of it in years.

  • I met a beautiful stranger who won my heart and played this song to me when we were both 16. We married and had 2 children and then he died at 23 and I can't tell you how much this song brings him back to me. I miss him so and I miss Dan, it's as if Charlie died again, when Dan passed. It hurts still yet it's somewhat conforting. I bet they are jammin' together in heave.

  • As an black teenager I was kind of raised on r&b, but I always changed the radio station when no one was around. Our school band had a party after the game and the hostess played this song. His voice touched my soul. The song was delicate and piercing at the same time. I couldn't place the music any place on earth. Then Hickory Grove came on and I felt seduced by a man whose image I couldn't see. His music was like an unexpected hug from a beautiful stranger. It was exhilarating. Yes...

  • I once knew a really precious woman in college who couldn't even accept a kiss. She was starting to love me, but someone must have hurt her badly when she was younger! I'm sorry Tracy! She would tremble as I tried to hug and kiss her! I hope your life is great now! Love, BobbyK

  • You did MORE than justice to this song, you made it come alive. Thank you so much for evoking so may wonderful emotions within my soul.

  • Excellent job beggersgame... excellent...

Very good quality audio upload as well

  • watching the wisteria in bloom swaying in the wind....made me think of you and this very sweet interpretation ...hope you are well, donna...

  • I love this song. I miss Dan and his beautiful music, I saw him in concert at least 7 or 8 times. Everytime is was magical. I cant help but feel incredible sorrow knowing he is gone. At least his music will always live on in all of our hearts. Rest in peace Dan...

  • This is so beautiful with Dan's song! Thanks

  • the art is great.

  • This was beautiful, thank you. I got this album back in 1972. The lyrics have haunted and confused me for years. We miss him.

  • This was one of my favorite songs when I was a young teenager. Kinda scares me to know that now, but I understand why. You gave a visual to a piece of my history. This was clearly a labor of love. Thank you

  • This song always makes me think of falling in love with a woman suffering depression.

  • Gorgeous!! I love it :)

  • Frances, this is my favorite Dan Fogelberg song.

  • beautiful!!!!! thank u so much! sandi from LA

  • my name is wysteria...this is creepy

  • @heatherwys I love that name!!!

  • Such an overwhelming and powerful album, with several different creations to make the mind wonder and wander.

But I can never start this CD without hearing this song, no matter how painful the message. It's a feeling begging to come out, but not to consume one's desire for love, after loss of love, but to continue to ponder the amazing feelings taking you up and down as you travel through a life of love around you at times,, and then within you at others.

  • pretty purple

  • "Did he stay a bit too long, to save his heart...."

Man, does that line ring a bell....

  • Well, well done...you did the song justice beautifully. More years ago than I care to remember, when I was in the Army, nearly every night I would put on headphones and listen to either Dan Fogelbergs "Home Free" or Joni Mitchell's "Song to a Seagull." These albums gave me joy when there wasn't a lot of it to be had.

  • ...just riding along watching you drive through the Princeton backroads as you made your deliveries; watching the newness of the blooming wisteria forever will link you to me and this Danny song. (thank you beggarsgame for the awesome vid)

  • Always one of my favorites..Miss him a lot..

  • i've seen Dan perform in new haven ct. been a fan since the 70 's. i amost got to drive him once for the limo co. i work for. i told them i'd quit if they didn't let me drive him the next time, but unfortunately there was never another time.

  • Once in an interview, Dan talked about his dislike for (MTV-like) videos as they don't allow the song to "speak" to the listener individually (experiences, images, etc.). This song certainly holds true to that statement. Taking nothing away from this great tribute, this song (and so many others of Dan's) has and holds so much more meaning. There's something still to be said for simply sitting down and listening - letting the song speak on its own.

  • Are your lips still lilly white? Do they still bloom just at night, and die at sunrise?

  • Beautiful video. I've loved this song for years!!

  • How beautiful! In the '70s I was given the gift of an album called Home Free by a musician I had never heard of before: Dan Fogelberg. I'd tell friends of mine about him & this album. No interest was shown, until songs such as "Leader of the Band", etc., were played on the radio. I fell in love with Dan's music immediately, from Home Free through Love in Time. "Wysteria" struck me as hauntingly beautiful. Thank you so much for creating and sharing this. Absolutely beautiful! Five Stars Plus!

  • Beggar S. Game' . Zat French? Yes, you did it justice. Don't you find it like trying to describe the Mona Lisa? As eloquent as one may be, an homage is really just as close as one might get. Still, your interpretation is as good as I would expect. Well done.

  • Grazie per aver condiviso questo magnifico pezzo di Dan, grazie ancora

  • Nice...Nice..

  • havent heard this song in 27 years..... and it had huge significance for me then.... 27 years and I still miss her.... I guess it will never end..... Dan had a gift for the haunting musical phrase.

  • Yes, you captured it. Thanks for an amazing tribute to such an amazing musician.

  • Beautiful video, Beautiful song, by a amazing and truely gifted man who will forever be in our hearts!!

  • Fantastic video, fantastic song. Rest in Peace Dan. You are missed...

  • Superb song and great video! Thanks for sharing !!!!!!!!

  • very, very nice.

  • To me it's his best song..ty for the upload

  • Thank you.

  • Thank you.

  • simply BEAUTIFUL video of a BEAUTIFUL song by a GREAT artist, thank you.

  • I have loved this song all of my life..............beautiful video.

  • Wow this song is amazing my mother's name is Wisteria, and i know she will love this song. I guess my grandparents named her after this song idk where they got her name from, I'll have to send this to my grandparents and aunt. Awesome song

  • I saw Dan in concert once (Netherlands)and he related that he found a parallel to this song after he had written it about the souls of sexually unfulfilled balarinas who found living male counterparts and danced them to death.I acquired a beautiful painting of a dark whispy chiffon draped dancer that I titled Wysteria so fitting to this very beautiful song.Dans songwriting was from somewhere deep inside all of us and he knew how to touch a part of all our souls that we never knew the pathway to

  • Fantastic note--you have learned from the master! Thanks. I needed that.

  • FOR: TheLastNail :you know what is so strrange?I had just played both the last nail and wysteria on my acoustic before getting online and then got your message! Weird and I have not played the last nail for ages.

  • That is indeed strange, although I could recount an amazing number of unexplained coincidences in my life. Glad we were on the same wavelength for a while. I'm sure we will be again. Next time sing just a little more slowly...

  • Patricia Murphy played this record for me in 1974 in Nashville Tennessee. I was hooked on Dan Fogelberg for life.

Your video recreates the images that have been in my head for the last 35 years.

  • love it <3

  • Touchant...

  • Fantastic!

  • Really beautiful to listen to and watch!

  • my Favorite song of his also.. i miss him .. i almost had the chance to drive him for a limo co. i work that he used and I insisted that next time he called i'd be the driver .. well i'm afraid that didn't happen.

  • This is an absolutely superb video to accompany this exceptionally beautiful and wistful song. The match of images to music would be hard to beat and I have to wonder what it took to find them. Well done.

  • Of all of Dan's beautiful songs and wistful tunes, this has got to be my favorite. It is haunting and captures something in me that longs to express.

"I am grateful to the man"

His music shaped my life, my music and me.

  • One play of "Wysteria" on progressive radio...back 35+ years ago...was all it took. I've been a fan ever since. I really thought his music would make him immortal. Maybe it has.

  • I love this song and your video is amazing!! Thanks for this beautiful post!! :)

  • Magnificent!

  • A wonderful, wonderful vid.

  • This is my second comment, but I just watched it again and think it is one of the most beautiful mix of Pictures to a Dan Fogelberg song that I've ever seen.

I was going to try and do this, but after seeing this again, it can't be topped! You're the BEST!

  • Very Beautiful~~Song and video~~ Thank You~~

  • this is the most hauntingly beautiful song I have ever heard. Loggins and Messina's "Pretty Princess" is the only other song I like about as well. I loved this song when Dan first put it out and I still do...even more. Great video representation of a timeless and deep song.

  • I Dedicate this Song in Memory of Lizzy who passed away today October 31, 2008.

A beautiful young teenage girl who made the choice to exit this earth too soon. Please be Kind, Mercifull and Understanding.

  • My favorite Dan song! To you Lucy, wherever you are....

  • Back again-Such a beautiful song-What a Great Voice! This is a Very Good Video. You captured it...

  • I can't believe it took me this long to write to you about your love for Dan Fogelberg and the great videos you put out -

  • Very chilling and moving video=My favorite Dansong...

  • It kills me all over again when Dan's voice rises at the end...ahhh...Dan's brilliant youth!

  • ♥♥♥♥♥ The memories are flooding in ♥♥♥♥♥

  • Thank you again, Donna. Another work of art that sooths my soul and raises my spirit.

  • Enchanting!! Beautiful images to match an equally beautiful song. Great work, and I even love how you wrote in his name and everything at the end.

  • I knew Wysteria. I did take her to the fair and I did teach her how to dance. And, unfortunately, I did stay a bit too long...

For Dan, it was perhaps just another song...for me, much more.

  • You know, to this day I don't know if I stayed too long or gave up too soon. I really think the latter...you may only feel that way once in a lifetime. "One road is simple acceptance of life, the other road offers sweet peace"...we have to make those choices again and again, and we usaully take the path of least resistance...to our despair, ultimately .

  • I find the picture at 1:46 especially enchanting. Ominous sky, vulnerable surroundings, mournful overtone; the spirit of the song captured in one moment.

  • I think so too Alan, but you are more brilliant with the word play than me :)

  • It's so awesome to see and hear from other fans of their interpretations of Dan's songs. I would love to see your interpretation of 'Be On Your Way'...a song that Dan said he always wanted to redo and one that he once said was his mother's favorite.

  • You did a great job - a beautiful song and a wonderful video. RIP Dan!

  • It is still hard to believe he passed. Jeanne has been kind enough to update some photos on Dan's website...there is a great photo and explanation of Dan ice skating (after his dx and treatment). He looks really great in it..even though he was weakened. Take a look. Greg

  • Donna - really lovely....you still have the touch ! Great. Greg

  • nice video beautiful song. thanks D 5*

  • beautiful 5*

  • Wow!!!! You are on talented individual!! Dan would had loved this!Bravo! Wysteria came about when Dan was visiting a head shop and they sold Incense and there was the fragrance Wysteria. The story goes as he said in a interview,he was under the influence(weed?)and was lying on the floor of a hallway, and this song came to him. Wysteria is a ghost/dead woman. Gee, I never got visions like that!

    Great post!!

  • Great stuff = vivid vision, internal or external. Wide awake and dreaming.....

  • asquare, thanks for sharing that story on Wysteria... so Dan lies on the floor in hallways too - how so normal and endearing.. even if under the influence since back in the day it was... but I gotta say he must have had some powerful ganga to see visions like that. Maybe Dan just did not want to admit in an interview that it was a psychedelic trip he was on LOL. Thanks for everyones comments and ratings and helping to keep Dan in the EVER ON!

  • I should add, that this was in his college days. I believe he was going to a friends place(apt.) and they weren't there. He hung out to wait and this is what happened. I have read some good interviews.I love to web surf!Going into the abyss of the internet and pull these articles out are quite fun. I love sharing them with everyone. You can't make this stuff up!!

  • Wow D, another fantastic video! This song was always so hauntingly sad yet beautiful to me. And Scott was right, the strings on this are perfection. And that high note that Dan hits at Sunrise....turns me to mush at every listen. Thanks D, your images with this song are again outstanding, I've got goosebumps! Big hugs to you and all out there. BB

  • Certainly one of Dan's most poignant songs and artfully portrayed in the images you thoughtfully chose and pieced together. It's beautiful~~~~

  • Achingly beautiful, heart wrenching, stunningly lovely. You manage to embody so many of our feelings for Dan and his music in your artful creations. Thank you for this treasured gift.

  • Very beautiful, beggarsgame! I think Dan would have loved the pictures. Very haunting and mysterious. Fantastic job! Thank you. Miss you, Dan!

  • Ah Beggars once again a work of art so beautiful that it brings tears to my heart !

  • Beautiful...

    Love it!Thanks!

  • Thanks Beggarsgame, you did it much more than justice, it's a beautiful work, I love it, it fits so perfectly! As another already said, Dan would be proud! Wonderful! Dan Baby gone, but still with us in our hearts, souls, and minds! Love ya Dan! Maria Glenn

  • beautiful and sad

  • Wonderful work D. Such a sad sad song. I've got to give much credit to I believe Norbert Putnam? who produced "Home Free" the string arrangement here fits so well with Dan. When I think of Dan's very best work I think of songs like this, Dan you stayed a bit too long to save our hearts. Miss you.

  • Magical...Dan would indeed be proud. Thanks for stoking the fire as it has been smoldering of late. Always one of my favorites that I've played since the mid 70's. I had read that the subject was a ghost so haunting is valid here...this is one of your best, which is a considerable statement.

  • Beautiful! wonderful as always...
