  • Next Time you're in Milwaukee, film it at night since it lights up

  • @trball8 I did film it at night, just didn't like some of the footage, check the previous video to this, you see some of it at night.

  • Best City in the World

  • Amazing!

  • I havent uploaded a video before. how do you get the annotations?

  • @beepbeepme50 I do the notations on my editing software before I upload the video. I know YT has a way to do it after the fact but I've never used it.

  • love the music!!!!!!!!!

  • Great video, and choice of song wasn't bad either. My very favorite part was when you drove on Saint Paul Ave., and went on the lower levels of this interchange. Probably b/c I've never seen this interchange from Saint Paul Ave., or the perspective of the Marquette Interchange's lower level ramps.

  • @prfsnlwannabe Thanks!

  • @Freewayjim One more question I should've asked you earlier, where did you find this vintage scan of the Marquette Interchange(back then, obviously called Central Interchange)? That's a cool scan of how it used to look.

  • @prfsnlwannabe It's from a book I have by a construction company showcasing their work.

  • I loved this travel in the Interchange of Milwaukee. What an awesome video. Perfect choice in music. I will always be a fan!

  • Man down at 4:40!!!!!1

  • $810 million? That's roughly the same amount as the new Twin Span bridge at New Orleans.

  • To The I-35/I-635 In Texas

  • Loved the "Bonus footage." Nice to see Dallas has been the trendsetter for "High-Five" construction. Great song as well. It's so funny. If you're over 40, you think of The Whispers version. If you're under 40, you think of the Will Smith "Going to Miami" version.

  • @lakebay972 Thanks, LOL I've never even HEARD the Will Smith version. I have heard his butchering of "He's The Greatest Dancer/Gettin' Jiggy With it"

    .

  • @Freewayjim Yes, they are from his 1997 album "Big Willie Style." He also did the theme to "Men in Black" by sampling Patrice Rushen's "Forget Me Nots."

  • @lakebay972 Another great song butchered! : )

  • I gotta say, I have more respect for somebody covering a song with their own interpretation of it (good or bad) rather than sampling the heck out of it in to some mish-mash like Will Smith does.

  • @lakebay972: Here you guys. The official music video for "Welcome to Miami." Well, the first half of the video at least. /watch?v=860XBqj0suI&feature=related

  • @foxboy1618 Are you talking about the Whale mural that used to adorn the parking structure that was ontop of some lanes on I43? Yeah it was a neat piece... kind if wish it lived on, but that ugly parking structure did cover up the Court house which is also magnificent looking.

  • @foxboy1618 if anyone is interested, search Milwaukee County Courthouse on wikipedia, they have a picture of the structure and mural.

  • incredible work & nice music 5 stars to you. This remind me how big was this interchange again ! O_O

  • @Franks4488 Thanks!

  • Super video, this song reminds me of roller skating!! !

  • @0marigolds Thanks, yes, it is definitely an iconic song from those days and times

  • that is big interchange; there is a big one near my house; I-696, I-275, M-5, I-96!

  • @fentonmsu Actually this interchange is pretty compact in size, the one you live near is all spread out.

  • Another winner! Thanks!

  • @packerlandmike Thank you!

  • Great video Jim!! I loved the Kilbourn Ave exit and West St Paul Ave view of the interchange. BTW, what caused the "dropped frames" at I-794 East Lakefront?

  • @cochrab Thanks, since I film with MiniDV tapes, my best guess is the camera just had a hiccup for lack of a better term, not sure what caused the dropped frames to be honest.

  • Is it always sunny in USA? I don't think I've seen a video of yours with raining weather :P

  • @CallMeEmaxe That's because I can't film in rainy weather (it would look like crap, I've tried it). You obviously have not seen the St. Louis Dusk to Dark video :)

  • What an awesome video. Perfect choice in music. I will always be a fan.

  • @3unis3 Thank you, much appreciated!

  • Wicked video and song Jim! :D

  • @bschaven Thanks!

  • Amazing interchange, especially from street level, does the old interchange look more impressive or the new one?

  • @FreewayAndrew I never saw the old interchange in person but I can't imagine how it would unless you have a fetish for 1960's freeway design.

  • @Freewayjim I don't imagine either, the blue paint on the ramps make the new design more impressive than the old one.

  • @FreewayAndrew The new interchange is MUCH more handsome. The old one was inefficiently designed (left hand exits and merging), and it's last 5 years was really crumbling apart and rusty... it was really sad looking interchange before.

  • @saintsouleyman Thanks!

  • Awesome:D Your videos are always amazing, Mr. Jim:D

  • @VHM072010 Thank you!

  • Awesome footage and a great song to boot! The view from St. Paul Ave is out of this world!

  • @eluko79 Thanks, I took about 100 photos from that parking lot on the left under the ramps.

  • Excellent videos!

I love all of Milwuakee's many church spires!

  • @casmatori Thanks, yes there are a lot of them!

  • .. great views Jim - loved every bit ..

  • @GeoffJennyOliver Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.

  • I Approve 100%, no doubt in the top5. perfect. i love that song..

  • @ScrewdUPClickV2 Thanks!

  • go back to Dc

  • yeah song works love the ride

  • AMAZING!

I'll tell you what. I've driven through all of the mega-sized interchanges in this country, and I'll say that the ramps here do not rank anywhere near the longest that I've seen. However, the aesthetics that WisDOT implemented are top-notch; the best I've seen of any mega-interchange. I-43, just north of the interchange, looks beautifully reconstructed, and it's not just another faceless stretch of gray concrete.

Excellent idea to film it from street level, too. FAVORITED!

  • @FreewayBrent Thanks, I completely agree with you on that, it is a great looking piece of engineering, the rebuild was superb, thumbs up to WisDOT.

  • Superb footage!

  • @FreewayTitan Thanks :)

  • I drove through this yesterday.

  • Awesome coverage you have here! Love the video!

    More Milwaukee Vids?! AWESOME :D

  • @colinstu Thank you, I have two more coming before going back to Chicago.

  • @Freewayjim Very cool, I look forward to them!

  • *watches excitedly!*

  • great song for it

  • @bigM10231 Thanks, it was tough finding one that "worked".
