  • I'm sure there were probably some trouble-makers that joined the protest as an excuse to cause trouble; however, it seems as though the police are overreacting. They are turning it into a bigger problem than it would have been, it seems. Although, I'm only seeing a few choice minutes that the news covered here.

It is sad that trouble-makers joined the peaceful protest and contributed to creating a war with the police. I wonder if some of the trouble-makers even started looting.

  • "police tell us" should never be a sentence in credible news in a situation like this.

MAD props to this reporter for exposing himself to a dangerous but important to cover situation.

F#ck Jean Quan and Homeland Insecurity!

  • "police tell us" should never be a sentence in credible news in a situation like this.

  • FANTASTIC!

  • those police should be shot by the protesters, their batons should be stolen and the cops should be attacked and held under arrest in some basement somewhere by the citizens. those cops don't deserve a paycheck. they deserve to be fired and imprisoned and/or killed. The protesters had every right to throw knives at the cops. they were being attacked by cops for something that is supposed to be their right..

  • why can't people just shut up and keep paying the rich like good peasants?

  • freedom costs a buck o'five.

  • @getreal77598 - What you just said is described as "apathy" you are the "apathetic". Its not a great trait, but it doesnt make you a bad person. It just makes you a bit weak, and accepting. Things CAN and WILL change, they always have in all of history. This kind of increasing oppression and corruption in government never stays for long, even if we have to dismantle the whole things and start over. However all we really need is some 'repairs to go back to the constitution. MONEY OUT OF POLITICS!

  • There is a picture floating around... with the tea party blaming the government, and the occupiers blaming the banks... and you look up and the two buildings join as one, they are both protesting the same exact building, they just have a different message. In reality the government and the corporations have become one, you have members of the board of Monsanto working in government making the decisions that help or hurt monsanto or the public. Sever conflicts of interest all over washington

  • @getreal77598 - The news makes you believe they are disorganized. Each protest has a daily general assembly where meetings are held and it is re-organized on a daily basis. The protests are in 900+ locations, this is probably the most well organized protest in history... Yet they will say "its not organized" and "they dont know what they want" , when in fact they are all mostly saying the same thing, but it scares the establishment, The message is "MONEY OUT OF POLITICS" stop selling the vote!

  • Pigs - plyaing victim card.

    Speed-freaks should be fired.

    Fascism is strong in Oakland.

    Fuck you Mayor.

  • bah bah I deserve better generation your ether the problem or the solution Sorry we don't give every one the lucky sperm gene pool. The rest of us pursue our happiness. But while your protesting I ll go ahead and apply for the jobs that are open. You will have a arrest record

  • @MsVbender - Most of the people at the protest already have jobs. This is why the general assembly each day is a HUGE amount of people, they are not all camping out. The ones camping out are the ones making the bigger sacrifice, while the others go to work as normal. Its not a protest against working, or against corporation. The message is loud and clear GET MONEY OUT OF POLITICS! We are tired of our politicians and their vote being bought and sold. The vote doesnt work when they are paid off.

  • @getreal77598

you are so weak and pathetic haha I would gladly die for my freedom than live a rats life.

  • I wonder what the police gonna do when they see their own child or father in the crowd, fucking puppets.

  • our military fighting for freedom in a country where the people's freedom is becoming less and less with each passing day, this event is similar to what provoked the uprising's in N.Africa,

  • of course they got the ONE person who threw the rock. fuck that noise.

  • @skaguy88 - It was very clear who it was, and would have been easy to take care of. Instead they just use it as an excuse, even if nobody chucked a single rock, the outcome would have been the same. This is why they came there dressed in full gear from 16 different departments. They came to raise hell. No matter how peaceful people are.

People should realize - when you are in a LEGAL peaceful protest, and you are attacked with weapons for speaking out. You may chuck a rock (or canister) back

  • the apathetic ones are the sheep, this is blatent breach on our rights as americans.

  • Good on the cops! throw bottles at police and they throw tear gas back. they warned them countless times! occupy needs to stop

  • @airfury17 - Even the news didnt say bottles were thrown at police...

however even if tney WERE... bottles DO get thrown at concerts and bars or even sporting events all the time... no tear gas gets thrown back... Right? most of the time its handled by private security even! they just detain and charge the couple idiots.. but its ok to attack entire group of people if its a protest? Do you think they should lob tear gas into the stands too? Or just have no problem being hypocritical?

  • @brainphreak oh i beg your pardon the cops where shot with paintballs and had knifes thrown at them as the news reporter does state. What part of move in 5 minutes or we WILL move you with FORCE dont you understand. You cannot protest in the middle of a street. Occupy needs to stop. OH and stop buying your occupy gear like tents and sleeping bags from walmart the people who occupy seem to me to be the hypocrits

  • @airfury17 - Yeah there is a lot of video of people throwing knives at the police... that doesnt even make sense... The police also made an official statement that no rubber bullets or less than lethal rounds were shot, and only 4 cans of tear gas sent... but that was obviously also false as was later proven.

also you prove again your ignorance when you claim that occupiers should not buy from walmart. The occupation is not "lets become amish" or "all corporations must go" , wrong protest..

  • @airfury17 - BTW, yes you can protest in the middle of the street, in fact MOST protests take place in the middle of the street. often blocked off with the help of the police themselves. So quit talking shit you have no idea about and go back to watching television and pretending everything is ok, and all cops magically have only the publics interest at heart. You are only fooling yourself with that kind of blind faith, you must hold people accountable WHEN they make mistakes, this was a mistake

  • beware. It WILL happen: youtube.com/watch?v=_3LVgeOTjqg

  • Wow. The Police and the families of police officers should really be concerned for their own safety. It's not a hard stretch to realize that these cops are shooting shotguns (with rubber bullets) at point blank range at these protesters. It won't be long before protesters begin bringing their own weapons and once that happens I fear for the safety of all police officers.

  • @senorchili

    Right ON!!

  • Comment removed

  • NATO needs to REMOVE the TYRANNICAL GOVERNMENT IN POWER HERE!

There is no reason to TERRORIZE these protestors!

    COPS = NAZIS

  • i so much would love to get on a plane, fly to the us and support you guys in oakland. the whole world is watching!

  • LOL @ 3:20 - 3:24

  • @thiizzman510 a veteran with skull fractures is lol? get a brain!

  • @MoodyWanderer no u moron.....what the girl was saying!!!!!...im the 99%

  • Respond to this video... lolol.."i was shaking his face with blood coming out of his mouth"...lololololol

  • To think these protesters are the same people who elected the president who gave the money to the company's they are protesting

  • @MsVbender - I voted for Ron Paul :)

  • @MsVbender

When you have to work all day and come home relax watch tv you dont have much time to "think" and the little free time people have they spent being brainwashed by media.

Wake up at 6 prepare breakfast send kids to school spend 1 hour getting to you job, slave out for at least 8 hours, get back at 5 coock do some small business and its 6 in the evening already relax few hours by watching tv get brainwashed go to sleep and repeat 5 times a week. weekend evening, cinema get brainwashed.

  • @MsVbender Occupy Golden Gate Bridge Nov. 29 2011

just spreading the word. Someone emailed to me so i am doing the same.....Our voices will be heard.

  • @MsVbender You know what? I say that's good. It's a good eye opening lesson to learn when the party you defended betrays you. I learned not to defend either party.

Maybe it'll make those formerly idealistic young people wake up and see that Obama's entire cabinet is made up of Wall Street Execs

Not only that, but they need to learn that when the Republicans fuck up, the answer is NOT the democrats. AND VICE VERSA.

Investigate the false left right paradigm. They're playing us like a fiddle.

  • The guy at 4:30 should be the LEADER of this organization! He has what it takes to show these Pigs that they are nothing but paid puppets of the higher ups! He is no punk and he makes me proud to be an american! Occupy new york needs to take lesson from oakland instead of being a bunch of pansies! I hope to meet this man someday and shake his hand! Good Job!

  • Someone should hand out gas masks to the protesters! See how effective the tear gas is then....lol

  • and watch as this protestor throws a rock through a chp window....

    AWESOME

    GJ kid.

  • @kryptocake - Yeah that kid should be arrested for vandalism and destruction of property. Just like the kids who throw rocks and break windows at disneyland or down the street from their house.

  • @brainphreak

Kind of like how the USA went over to Iraq and Afghanistan and vandalized entire countries with heavy weaponry, like playground bullies with deadly toys. These people protesting have the balls to stand up for what the rest of us want: Freedom from tyranny, jobs, and living wages among much more. The kid who broke the precious cop's window is no more at fault (in MY opinion) than a small Iraqi boy throwing rocks at the USA tank that just leveled his home. FUCK the FSA.

  • Currently Oakland and San Francisco occupations are both surrounded. Some protestors from oakland are on the way to San Francisco, the police have blocked and closed the bart, many protestors are walking to get to the occupation in SF. In SF there are multiple prisoner transport vehicles and the police presence is high. There will be conflict most likely at both locations as the police attack the peaceful protestors. We can expect more of this tonight and through the morning in both places.

  • Into the fire!

  • I Think that we should ALL go to DC or to each capital of their state and if that doesnt work then straight to DC if these politicons want to get elected well then they will have to answer to us THE PEOPLE Can Do Anything ANYTHING with numbers and with the same idea no one would be able to stop us this USA has not been based on the poeple for at least 100 years its time to get THIS GOVERMENT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If your not mad then your not paying attention! !!

  • PROVE OF POLICE BRUTALITY!

Copy an Paste this on Youtube:

Oakland Policeman Throws Flash Grenade Into Crowd Trying To Help Injured Protester

  • "Illegal assembly" "announced that this was an illegal assembly" "decided it was an illegal assembly"

Ok, we get it that somebody, somewhere has decided this was an illegal assembly, but WHY? Nobody ever tells us WHAT exactly makes it an illegal assembly, just that it is.

Instead of citing what they were doing wrong, and giving them a chance to correct it, they just get gassed instead. Wtf?

  • @FlipLogic - gassed, shot at, and attacked with high tech weaponry like sound cannons, flash bombs, and they even have a tank.... The cops gave them 5 minutes to leave! Even though they were not doing anything illegal. Now there is an injured soldier, veteran of the IRAQ war who is in critical condition fighting for his life...

To serve and protect??? who? not the public... not the people... not the rights... not the law.. Just corporate interests, and those who buy them the tank...

  • @theblackpacket - "even though they werent doing anything illegal"!???? Are you really that ignorant!? plz listen to what the news broadcaster says between 0:55-1:01 . They were breaking the law! The protesters chose to put themselves in that situation!

  • @shmoopify So anything that happens is justified? Come now, you don't mean to insinuate that do you? And what law? A law that prevents people from marching on the very streets of their own community? And that's CRIMINAL? Come now, you know better. Jaywalking is a crime. Is a jaywalker a criminal? Ease up.

The irony is, like I posted on your video, that you are one of us but haven't realized it yet. The reason SJPD is cutting is because of DEBT. THAT's what these 'criminals' are protesting.

  • @2eelShmeal - What are you rambling about? There is no law that prevents people from PEACEFULLY marching. Its only criminal when they refuse to disperse after having been given a LAWFUL order to do so. SJPD is cutting because of HORRIBLE money management done by its city council!!! The money to pay SJPD wages ,benefits and retirements was set aside years ago and there was plenty of it to handle things. The city "leaders" over the years blew that $ on ridiculous projects.

  • @shmoopify Ok. Thanks for getting back to me. I appreciate your pov and I think (obviously) this country is headed towards increasing chaos and the more dialogue we have the better. It beats violence, but unfortunately that's what's going to happen.

I do sympathize with your position. It's not an easy spot you're in, it sounds like you are a bit torn, understandably. I just wouldn't want to be you after the next election sadly, it's going to get ugly. The system gives us no choice but violence

  • @2eelShmeal - I was there at the protests. I saw how these "peaceful protesters" turned into regular street thugs. (NOT MOST, but many) And dont tell me that "i dont know im one of you".......I am a police officer and my wife is a elem school teacher. We both set goals as young adults and reached them. EVEN STILL, we r looking at losing our house due to the banks raping our country! So i know what its all about! But i also know the way they were protesting was wrong!

  • @2eelShmeal You're right, the elite see the rest of us as trash, that don't have rights.

  • @theblackpacket Yes, that's what it looks like. It is as though they are treating American citizens like terrorist! It's truly sickening!

  • @FlipLogic You can't rationalize with a mob, for one thing. For another, they were told to disperse and did not comply but instead advanced. Protesters knew this would happen and it was their intent. This is WTO type tactics, figure it out.

  • The guy hit in the head was so badly injured he was immediately texting on his smart phone. Ok.

  • @LadyLiberty1885 he has a fkn fractured skull btch

  • @MoodyWanderer "he has a fkn fractured skull btch" <-- Aren't you just a lovely example of civility...

Perhaps the young man should move next time police start firing tear gas cannisters. He was standing point blank in front of them. Sorry, no sympathy.

  • @LadyLiberty1885 so it's ok to almost kill him because...he didn't move!? btch i really hope you die a slow and painfull death soon

  • nothing wrong with shooting people with teargas. Do you think these are members of the NTC fighting with NARO weapons in Tripoli? Take your Nazis and go back to democracy school.

  • Is this the Oakland you dreamed of?

  • I like that the reporter emphaaized that protestors IGNORED police commandments....YES WE DID AND WILL!!!

  • @MATESOLUSA Then you get what you deserve when they gas the crowds. Stop crying and man up to your choices.

  • I like that the reporter emphaaized that protestors IGNORED police commandments....YES WE DID AND WILL!!!

  • Fkn dumb asses!!Get a fkn job!!Obviously if they say leave they mean it.

  • Could not watch this whole thing, as I'm suffering from stress-induced adrenal illness. But I will say this:

The citizens of America 200 years ago would slit the throats of anyone who dared tell them they could only have free speech in certain areas and during certain times. The coppers of 200 years ago wouldn't be dispatched for protesters. Unbelievable how things flip flop in two short centuries!

  • this is just fucking insane, this whole world is going down the drain

  • Nobody ever said Freedom was Free

  • ok, a few assholes broke a cop car window and set a fire. They do NOT represent or speak for the MASSES that are peacefully protesting. Get the fuck over it. All in All, even the people that don't support the Occupy movement will be grateful when they see change.

  • it will only escalate. this happened in libya, syria etc...

  • Well looks like our second amendment is working well...

  • The occupiers were told to leave 5 days ago for health, safety and sanitation reasons.

You can hear the police warned them to leave.

Why would they demand people who were arrested be released? If they are innocent they'll have their day in court.

Paintballs shot/thrown at the police? - Illegal

    Fires started? - Illegal

Vandalising a police car? - Illegal

When there is a mob and the police must control them expect tear gas, rubber bullets and flash bombs.

  • @dennis48124 - Incorrect assumptions you made. if you are protesting and participating in a classic "sit in" protest where you do not budge. It is your right to continue to do so as long as you and the large group deems necessary. This is protected by the constitution, they can claim there are illegal activities all they want, but the reality is, it is not illegal. Now if someone shot a paintball at the police, you arrest him. Not bomb the entire area with gas and start opening fire on people

  • @theblackpacket The effectiveness of "sit-in" style protests is due to the fact that it often takes excessive force from authorities to remove them, and the victims of the violence then win sympathy and support from the general public allowing the overall movement to achieve their goals. This has remained true throughout history, such as during the Civil Rights movement and Vietnam War protests.

  • @pantsboy121 - I agree this is a big part of it. When you show that you are completely peaceful and force others to exert their obvious abuse of power, it becomes painfully obvious to any viewer. If they see people getting hurt, abused, mistreated etc. they will of course be more sympathetic in many cases, the real power is that these events get shown on tv. Normally the protest is the lowest importance of news, but when violence occurs, and abuse, only then it becomes a headline. Sad but true.

  • @dennis48124 - To put this simple... Imagine you are at a concert? or a sporting event? thousands of people.. now imagine the guy three seats down from you starts smoking a joint.. Maybe he gets drunk and chucks a glass bottle onto the field, could hurt someone! What happens? You may have guessed it... The security or even police come, and escort him out, or press charges is needed. They do not shoot tear gas into the crowd, and open fire on everyone in section D-F. Simple rent-a-cops handle it

  • @dennis48124 - In a crowd of thousands in a small venue, in the dark, with HIGH energy sporting events and concerts. Even when someone vandalizes, even when someone actually STABS someone at the game which happens... they do not tear gas the entire areas and attack all the people of the stadium. If a handful of rent-a-cops can handle the energy of a sporting event/concert, a team of 175 cops can pull out the guy who is committing crimes. Its just a not-so-clever excuse. They brought 16 PD's.

  • as for "Why would they demand people who were arrested be released? If they are innocent they'll have their day in court."- if you follow the system, what generally happens is you get arrested. you get released. then you have your day in court. They were not arrested for murder, they should be in and out of the system as they always are, In fact the police never even press charges, just round em all up, and let em go.

They 'hold up' the process making it take days, to punish them illegally

  • @theblackpacket I agree, I was being sarcastic and frustrated beacuse they keep saying its illegal. I know its not and they have the right to protest.

  • @dennis48124 I agree! This is far from a protest. This is a riot. I see nothing wrong with what the police did. 5 day notice is plenty of time.

  • @dennis48124

Told to leave for health and safety reasons? and If they don't leave their health and safety will be compromised anyway? "It's not healthy here so if you dont leave we're going to fire tear gas at you" Makes no sense...

  • @dennis48124 its not a mob you fucking moron its people, its your neighbors, its the guy at video store, its a mother that you see walking with their kid in a park, its a vet who spent 5 years fighting for your "freedom". They want justice they are tired of being fucked over and over again by the system.

  • Where is the proof of the knives, etc? I have seen many videos of this protest and have observed a few "agitators" who may not even be part of the protest, but either plants or possibly just caught up in the energy. I have also seen where the pleas for those who are agitating have been ignored. THOSE persons are the ones who should be arrested and held accountable...

  • LOVE FROM OCCUPY BERKELEY.ORG! THIS IS WHAT A POLICE STATE LOOKS LIKE!

  • I hope this is the beginning. We are overdue.

  • This reminds me of those old 80s futuristic movies like escape from new york or demolition man etc....since when do we have free speech zones??? and since when have we been regulated to perform said free speech at designated times??

  • @wookiep - Exactly, and since when does protecting the public include lobbing bombs of poison gas into innocent crowds and opening fire on them with less than lethal rounds , concussion flash grenades, sound weapons etc. If you ask me, that scene looked a little more dangerous than before they started...

  • Every single one of these protesters should should file a lawsuit against the Oakland police for having their rights violated....period!!

  • The protesters are peaceful. The enforcers for the elite create violence in order to push the agenda of the elite. Our protesters need protective gear and it looks like 'we the people' need our own protection enforcers as the 'cops' are only working for the elite. Stay peaceful protesters and do not give up. Those of us who cannot be there appreciate beyond words what you are doing for all of us. Do not let the elite enforcers get their way by making you, the protester, become violent. Peace.

  • STOP QUESTIONING THE TRUTH! SLAVE YOURSELF AWAY AT A JOB YOU DON'T LIKE SO YOU CAN BUY THINGS YOU DON'T NEED! GIVE IN TO YOUR FEAR!

  • WHY IS IT AN ILLEGAL ASSEMBLY!!?? We should be afraid. Use the UK as your example, they are taking our civil liberties away.

  • @masitello09 - its illegal because some dictator said so. In reality it is not illegal at all, protected by the constitution, not only beween certain hours, or on certain dates, or in certain locations... The right to peacefully assemble at anytime and indefinitely! That is protected in the constitution. The mission to evacuate the locations are ILLEGAL, so they are just saying the camp is illegal to justify their illegal actions. Its all lies, thats why nobody is ever prosecuted..

  • The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that local law-enforcement had no duty to protect individuals, but only a general duty to enforce the laws" [South v. Maryland]

  • Its a fact ,the police pigs are the 1%.....they are getting extra pay ...nazi pigs are the enemy this will be the end off the kapitalist empire.....

  • @mactube1958 - in total 16 police agencies were used in this RAID/ATTACK - 1. Oakland PD, 2 Alameda Sheriff, 3. Berkeley PD 4. University of California PD 5. Hayward PD, 6. Fremont PD., 7. San Leandro PD., 8. Pleasanton PD, 9. Emeryville PD., 10. Newark PD., 11. Solano Cty-Vacaville police, 12. Alameda PD 13. Cal Highway Patrol 14. Santa Clara Sheriffs 15. San Francisco Sheriffs 16. San Jose Police

  • @mactube1958 Thanks for the Overtime

  • @mactube1958 Thanks for the Overtime!

  • So hows the not fuck with the protesters strategy working for Albany?

  • These protests will be deemed a "National Security Threat" to the fascist economic system of the corporation of the USA (Profits private & Losses Public). The US Government will order Police to escalate the violence while using the media to spread propaganda to justify their actions of force to the rest of society so as to maintain THEIR status-quo.

How do you know you live in a fascist dictatorship? Force them to show their hand and allow them to act like one.

    Stay peaceful.

  • An "illegal assembly"? That describes the entire occupation of America for the last 500 years.

  • Comment removed

  • It's official. The USA is a police state.

  • Welcome to the end. Welcome to Orwell's nightmare made reality. People, please wake up.

  • @Sion6 - Yes this is 'peace keeping' and 'protecting the public' - Ignorance is Strength, War Is Peace, Slavery is Freedom...

  • Fuck those "police". Fucking sickening.

  • Is This America ? or Some Kinda Fascist State ?

  • @CazyDayz both..
