OH! Mary Ann! so wicked, wicked, naughty and DELICIOUS looking. Lets all sit in the corner while we enjoy this lovely cake! lol. have a great day and week!
Just a follow-up comment. I made this between yesterday and today, sort of a 'dry run' to make sure I can get it right when the time comes. Plus, I wanted to try it myself! >83 Even though the center of it sort of 'flopped' a bit, it is WONDERFUL. I'm probably sounding like a broken record by now, but thanks for posting this recipe, and I love your cooking videos! Take care.
Ohhh, wow! I'm really glad I found this, because I can't afford much for Christmas this year and I was going to bake treats for my relatives instead. I was agonizing over what to make. That is no longer the case. Thank you for posting this!
@JumbaFan Yay! That is great. Make sure you visit the website. I have a whole section of gifts from your kitchen that might give you some cool ideas! Take care and thanks for coming by!
@JumbaFan I've organized useful gift bags. Flour, sugar, butter, eggs, toilet paper, soap, rice and so on. No one was offended! I had friends in NYC who had someone in the office who would give ready to make jars of cool stuff such as lentil casseroles with recipes on them. No one was unhappy not to get "bling!" I send out quality fancy soaps from France around the world and they've been regifted by my clients. People think, SOAP? but when they use it they are so happy & it lasts so long!
@CuteCatFaith I agree with you. Personally, I am happy to just get a card and to spend time with family. If a person has a little time and creativity, some pretty cool gifts can be put together! This year I've got limited materials and time, so I'm having to be choosy and careful. XD
Hm, soup or casserole mixes are a wonderful idea...We've gotten cookie mixes in mason jars before, with the instructions on the gift tag. I thought that was pretty cool.
@JumbaFan I get these packets of French potiron soup for clients. I just double the price (cheap!) and the shipping. You boil a litre of water, add the mix, stir and simmer for 5 minutes. Good enough for company! They don't have pumpkins in France, so they use potirons, a kind of giant squash. No one seems to mind getting 10 or 20 of these packs, and at less than 2 euros each, that's doable! xo
@JumbaFan I've never hesitated to give checks to people for as little as 25 dollars. They love 'em! Here in France, people do not like costly gifts. The only exception is that in January (we don't do Xmas here) quality wines are given. Fresh flowers are required, however, for all occasions. The good news is, if they're from your yard or you got a cheap bunch, you are praised for your frugality and thanked! A wife might get a watch every 10 years for a wedding anniversary gift.
@lfi18593 That is what I should of called it instead of torte! Torture! Great way to describe this! This cake never uses flour Lorraine. It is so moist and decadent you will not even know it is not there! Thank you so much for watching!
mmmm yuuuuum, quiero hacer ganache para otra cosa pero de white chocolate, mismo process del choc ganache video pero con white chocolate would be good? Oh and btw, gente tonta y ignorante hablando del ganache video ni para que decir nada, just laugh about it! can't wait for ya sabes que, saldra delish! a moler con la piedra se ha dicho! lol saludos
@SenorPipaDeLaPaz White chocolate works beautifully with this! Asi que adelante amigo! Gracias por mandar a esa boluda a rodar . . . me rei a carcajadas! I don't now about 'moler con la piedra' pero prometo que hare todo lo posible por hacer el mejor ya sabes que que pueda! Cuidate!
Extra chocolate on the plate. You know the rule Frugal Chef; anything not on the cake is the cook's treat. LOL I'd have half the genache on the plate. OK LM check the Ganache recipe; I'm going to make this for Xmas as a treat.
@reeram I do not, sorry. I have been thinking about this and I really do not have an answer. Hmmm. . . . I mean, as long as you do not leave it out on the counter for too long I think it should be OK. Thank you so much for watching and for your support!
My second grandmother in law was an Austrian Jew and made a dark chocolate cake for Passover with no flour. It was mostly walnuts, eggs, sugar and dark chocolate and was decorated with whole walnut pieces. I never found a recipe but am going to try one freehand. She may have used oil or margarine to keep it parve. It was a winner cuz like this one, a tiny slice gives total satisfaction! Good technique here, I got a lot of ideas. Uprated. Sometimes black coffee is added ...
@CuteCatFaith Yes, black coffee goes great with this. I would love to get my hands on your mother-in-laws recipe! I will have to see if I can come up with something. Walnuts and chocolate - yum! Thanks Lisa!
@pastryparrot1 I have a Kosher cookbook which does a great cake with black hot coffee and salad oil! I am going to try to play with all the walnuts I have here and remember what she told me, in Yiddish, and try to fake it. If it works out, I will show it! She only did it once a year but it was a hum dinger. Many of these recipes die with the cooks, and we have to struggle to try them anyway then propogate 'em! I have no idea where Lottie is or when she may have died. sigh
Heavenly!!
