  • what rpm does this engine idle at?

  • @johndeere4300 This engine has a maximum rph at 1500 r/m, but I don´t think any normal people will run it on maximum speed :) I think it´s around 300 r/ m at idle. At cruisingspeed it´s arond 1000 r/m

    Take care

  • @johndeere4300 I'd estimate about 120 RPM--I counted 60 RPM in 30 seconds before it sped up!

  • This fishing boats engines sound good to hear

  • @jasongohweemeng1 Thanks:)

  • we have an boat with adjustable pith propeller and we have a wheel that you can turn for throttle and pitch in 1 so if you turn the wheel right all the way its full throtle forwards :D

  • Thanks so much for sharing your DIAMOND with the rest of us, deprived of the songs of honest old marine engines. You are a very lucky guy!

  • NIce! Sounds like a galloping horse. Reminds me of the old 2-cyl diesel Donis we have here.

    0:58 to 1:09 actually made me dance a bit:D

  • @zedextreme8177 Thanks :) Can´t you upload a video when you dance to an old engine, that could be something *lol*

Have a nice day and take care :)

  • @sealovers17: That's a great idea! I will work on it during the school holidays with my friends.

    Thanks:)

  • @zedextreme8177 Yes, that will be cool :)

  • No need for nets. This engine will scare the fish to death.

  • that’s just a lovely sound guy, real nice old thumper, comforting aint it….. LOL.

    Thom in Scotland.

  • I had a Norwegian fishing boat 53 ft, called {hav bris } in 1978, with a big single cylinder engine, a hot bowl where you had to blow lamp the cylinder head before foot pumping in fuel, then air start it, the cylinder was about 6 foot tall, sounder just like you’re engine it did, LOL.

    Thom in Scotland.

  • Engine seen at 0:59 in its box. When strangers to the fishing industry see these small inboard engines on display in museums, at shows etc they have no idea how they'd fit in a fishing boat or what size the fishing boat would be, this video also shows the usual box used to cover this small engine.

  • I love this sound, this lifestyle

  • Sounds like a 350 chev..lol.

  • Yes! Or a microwave owen maybe =)

  • mmmmmmmmm nice end pipe weres the engine

  • eru svensk elr?

  • Yes! Visst är jag det :D

  • So THIS is what the boats of "The Shetland Bus" sounded like!

  • sounds like fords new mustang engine,,,lol

  • ^^ ******

  • Love that "TONK ! TONK !" noise. Reminds me of the old Norwegian fishing boats during WW2 that used to carry out resistence work between Norway and Shetland Islands. Yes thats right. Norway to Shetlands with 1 cylinder !

  • Thanks! Everything is possible, but it´s a long way :D

    Take care.

  • Sounds like music for ma hairt!!

  • Yes! It´s a nice soud..

  • it sounds more like my pops 1949 shunter siting in the rail yard. an this sounds like when its starting up xD

but i love the sound 6/6

  • Yes! A big flyweel makes it possible.

    Take care

  • I thought that was the key to a low idle!

  • i like old boats like that one, their engines are cool!!!

  • i love that sound ....

    very good !!!

  • cooler than ever :)

  • I'm in love!

  • Unstoppable!

  • Nice sound, it reminds me of the coasters which would motor up the Ribble to Preston Dock. I was always surprised that some big ships would be powered by single cylinder engines. In the night, I would lie in bed and hear the "pong, pong, pong" sound out on the river. I wonder what it was like for the crew on a long voyage?

  • Thanks! It´s a nice sound, but I always

    use earprotection during long trips.

I know some old fishermen and

    seamen who have bad hearing

    because of hard noices from

    engines.

    Have a nice day.

  • Very nice sound.

  • Would love to see it out running in

the water - under a load - any possible

videos of this -- love the sound - i bet

she sounds better in open water --!!

  • Well, this is under load, the propeller is

    turning.

The engine is under renovation now.

    Have a nice day.

  • We are just beginning to appeciate this quality and efficieny here in the US.Sound absolutely rocks.

  • Thanks

  • it sounds like of it is any minute going to die

  • It´s me playing whith the trottle.

    Just to show you:)

  • sounds like a HIT OR MISS engine :)

is that a single or double cylinder??

  • Hello. It´s a single cylinder Marna, 4 stroke diesel engine 12 hp, weights 370kg. It has a standard regulator, no hit and miss. The engine was built by Mandals motorfabrik, Norway in 1961.

The Mandals motorfabrik has built engines for Volvo Penta to, MD1 and MB10, but that´s an other story.

    Have a nice day.

  • Really i thought it may have been a hot bulb but i guess not.

  • dodo dodo dodo dodo dodo

    LOL funny noise

  • awesome sound...greets from Holland

  • I love this sound!

    Peter de Vries

    Netherlands

  • What is the RPM on this old engines?

  • Hello. It´s about 1500 rpm maximum, but I run it much slower. This engine is a four stroke, so it sounds like 750 rpm.

  • Great boat , great engine, great tickover . Max revs about 100 rpm - you wouldn't want to push it any harder - it would spoil the sound!

  • i love the hollow sound that comes from the exhust pipe at the end of the video it sound really cool and i could listen to that engine all day

  • Yes, it has a nice sound. The engine is in very good condition but the boat need a lot of renovation. I have used the Fordson tractor to lift the engine out of the boat.

    Have a nice day.

  • Me too!

  • its a very cool sounding boat and i wish t could drive one

  • Thanks.

  • Great sound. Seems to rev even slower than my Volvo MD1 - but the smoke stack is a great idea - and a wonderful way of sharing that unique sound with everyone in the neighbourhood!

  • Not much of a bootlegging outfit, You could hear it coming a mile away!!!! Nice Boat & engine!! Love the sound!

  • najs:P

  • Awesome! I love that "TONK - TONK" exhaust noise. The norwegian resistance used this engine in their fishing boats to cross between The Shetland Islands and Norway. Yes that is correct. They crossed the north sea on ONE cylinder !!!

  • Thanks! One of my friends had a 2 cyl engine like this. It sounds nice to, but not so nice like this one. The engine are built in 1961 and are cooled by a pipesystem outside the hull, there are freshwater in the system.

  • What is a pitch propelor?

    Love the exhaust.

    How do u start this?

The end of the vid sounds like a big drum!

  • Hallo. The propeller blades are adjustable.

It´s possible to adjust the speed, ahead-neutral- astern. A lot of big ships has this type of propeller.

  • ahh, "variable" pitch propellor.

  • omg.... i love your boat... more!

  • I love the sound of these old hot bulb engines.
