  • well, I'm liking it for the squirrel :D

  • I liked the Scotland Rock

  • @Emomoz I believe you mean Irish... As its Irish

  • I think this is pretty good, though it's not really a stedicam on a fundamental level... A steady cam uses weight to move the center of gravity down precisely to the handle attachment point (gimbal) . This has a bit too much weight (a lot, actually) at the bottom, and that causes the camera to tilt as it is flown. Sometimes that's a good effect, but generally, that's not what you want.

One difficulty is that the phone is so light. A perfect gimbal is needed and even then wind will be a pisser

  • Not enough steadicam shots to call this a steadicam demo.

  • its still shaky.

  • You should probably try and stick a little weight on to the iphone mount itself, this should make it a bit less shaky according to the guys from the Hague stabilizers, don't know if you still care though :P

  • Name of the song please? :)

  • @xLoNaDaRx Forget that I said that (I skipped the last part of the video). If anyone is as lazy as I am, song is: The rocky road to dublin - The drop kick Murphys

  • ha ha! I like the part where they dance together

  • Liking the Irish music :)

  • it still shake left and right caz of the balancing , u can improve that ;) but its already very steady :D try merlin concept , it will prevent from shaking left and right , i bealive u know wat is merlin for sure ;)

  • Oregon is Beautiful! Screw Phoenix, Az.. Cool project!

  • shit quality. buy normal camera !

  • Swietny pomysł

  • great steadicam, but tons and tons of the shitty jello effect from the rolling shutter, apple shoulda left it at 480p and upped the quality as opposed to the resolution

  • wow ppl are writing books down here lol

  • Another clever viral marketing campain from Apple. For these two (and only) videos "jessper" got an iphone. Cool. Cheating all around (software stabilizing at postproduction, lies, etc).. whatever. Simple and works, just like hypes with iPad-DJ. Although the thing (ipad/ipod/iphone/icrap) is not realy nor suitable nor capable for the task, it gets advertised for that. Whatever.

  • Nice! Almost no shaking! The steadycam worked excellent!

  • good job

  • Nice job, like the music in the video

  • Dude! Awesome little invention! I have actually been filming like crazy with my new iPhone 4. I shoot and edit short commercial spots for local churches and I have found that the iPhone 4 does a really good job for small easy shoots, however the need for something to steady the shots is great! Your idea is AWESOME! I am going to try building one of my own. Any tips or tricks/problems you ran into that I should know about? Thanks and cheers, -Clint

  • @clintcollins dear god!!! Just buy a real camera... its a phone.

  • @Jmidd33 Hmmm... Yes, I know it's a Phone, but it also has a REALLY nice built in camera that makes filming things on the go very easy and fun. So what's the problem??? By the way, I have a "REAL" camera. I shoot with a Sony HDR-FX1!

  • @clintcollins Your trying to add to much stabilization to it. Makes it look worse... and thats not a real camera. Thats a toy camera. To small... sony sucks

  • Where is this awesome skate park with a full pipe?

  • @UrbanDEV That's Pier Park in Portland Oregon. It's pretty small, and in kind of ghetto area (lots of drunks and tweakers), but still really fun.

  • Good job but you have clearly also used post-stabilization to smooth the motions further. Tell tail signs are in the subtle directional blurs that are the result of motion blur having the motion taken out, as well as the random skewing of the image to show where it has been corrected. I often do stabilization and use a type of steadicam also and know how it looks when its done. Could you show us a raw video please, before its been stabilized.

  • @duophonix Wow, good eye. Yeah, on a couple shots I did get lazy and try to fix it in post to remove some of the my slight hand shaking. I'm not very good with it so I probably went overboard (and didn't feel like going back and redoing the shot). Instead of reposting the video, I'll post another video that's a lot smoother. I didn't realize going into it how much technique is involved with even the best steadicams. I'm a lot better at it now, so it should be a better demo of the rig.

  • @jessiper I was going to say the same thing after about 5-10 seconds into the video. Some one is editing stuff on Imovie lol. Try to put it on like 50% and not like 110% it just makes it look bad then better.

  • Iphone 4 camera + steadicam = EPIC

  • I'm really impressed on the results of the steadicam but not so much on the iPhone 4 video quality (BAD jello, high saturation, jerky video, artifacts, brightness correction, etc).. If you want to produce better amateur videos, definitely go away from the phone and go with a Samsung HZ30W or Aiptek A-HD - or step up to better cameras. Trust me it will look 5000% better and is a small investment with lots of return.

  • @FTNJeff

With those cams you mentioned, of course you'll get a whole lot better results, but you're missing the point. This is a fun project to try.. especially if you 'own' an iPhone4.. (if you own)..

I think it isn't worth doing this Rig if iPhone4 doesn't make good quality videos and images in the first place. Another point is that those cams cannot edit within the device, upload and do all other things iphone can do.

I bet you could text and make calls with hz30w or a-hd.

  • squirrel: the f is that thing?
