  • When a kid first starts playing it takes3-5 years I'm a bit addicted but growing bored and I'm on year 3 and starting to sell games at a time and at one point I'll get rid of them all

  • vgahelp(dot)com really helps with this kinda stuff :P

  • its real in korea

  • I'm here in this video to play snake.

  • prents r better of having a game addict then a sex or drug addict cause unlike thoes, game addict quit on there own and r less likely to kill someone or themselfs.

  • there no thing as game addict, trust me they WILL get bored and quit all u have to do is give them time and leave them alone. THEY will quit lol its been proven.

  • Richmond Dad Rick Macdonald... try to say that 3 times fast

  • @JRComicHighway Não consigo.

  • he would have helped his cause without the hood halfway up

  • Hes hobby is to game for hours. So if some ones hobby is to collect guns or loves to work on cars that means they are addicted to and its going to ruin their life! take it from them and take their asses to counseling!

  • ZoMG, I work 40+ hours a week. I must be addicted to work! Help me!

  • SO you can sit an watch TV for 5 hours but we cant play a competitive game for the same?

  • Video games stimulate the mind more than the majority of TV programs. It annoys me that so many people accept television but dismiss computer games as degenerative.

  • Got addicted when I was 4

  • lol i get addicted when i was 20

  • We should ban all technology. Hale Hitler. Stupid media, but they did get me to push the play button.

  • 0:15 OMG! they can go to public libraries and go on the computers?!?! WTF that is so wrong!

  • @gbrandt3 shut the fuck up im on the kids side

  • @dnvntm not sure if you're serious, or really that stupid. but in case you are, that was sarcastic. welcome to the internet, you seem to be new here.

  • my mom said to get off mw3 to watch tv... wtf?!

  • huh....CANADIANS ARE ADDICTED TO GAMING! I WENT TO A FUCKIN INTERNET CAFE AT TORONTO AND>>>>SHIT IT WAS HUGE FULL OF NERDS!!

  • Such idiots. We're in 2011. People make their lives playing doing pro gaming fucking christ the medias are dumb.

  • I hate parents that ban their kids from using the computer! Why? Well... If my parents banned me from staying non-stop on the computer, today, I wouldn't be an Network Security Engineer... They ban what's best for the future! And also what's best paid jobs...

  • wtf gaming addiction doesnt exist let us game alone stop making everyone scared go to hell bitch!!!

  • Not addictive? Bullshit. Give up video games for an entire year. Anyways, the only thing worse than video game addiction is being addicted to shitty games like Eve Online.

  • @SuicideBoner8IIIIIID too bad bitch. ;)

  • I think he's addicted, but not heavily. Seriously, if you finish all your work + socialise what is wrong with playing games? Playing too much is obviously bad because its excessive but parents can't think that whatever they say is right when they have no fucking idea what their children do. Maybe if you understood what we're doing we can talk...

On another note, playing too much at one time has serious health detriments, so I encourage all people to take a break every hour.

  • Man this is a perfect example of how much some adults out there a just too ignorant to notice, they think they know all about their kids but they really don't

that kid rite there is just like us

  • you can play games at our computer labs at school before school starts XD

  • @gus0509 the fact that you responded to his comment means that you are against learning excersising and other useful things lmaoo

  • @SuicideBoner8IIIIIID Nope, I'm pretty calm. After all, you're the one throwing the insults around. Its well know that people who can't create effective argument counters instead resort to insults and threats in an attempt to win the argument over in other aspects. Carry on humouring me with your logic though, I like watch you squirm as you attempt and fail to spell basic words.

  • @SuicideBoner8IIIIIID You seriously have nothing better to do with your life other than get angry at someone over a YouTube comment?

  • @SuicideBoner8IIIIIID Re-reading it I realise that I'm wrong. Although this was mainly due to your failure to use punctuation, meaning your the last person to call anyone a "dumb ass". I can also think of several ways that it could've been read wrong and a persons intelligence is not studied via responses to a crudely written comment on the internet. Also learn how to spell and capitalise.

  • @SuicideBoner8IIIIIID Last time I checked you die if you don't eat, so telling people to play an instrument instead of eating is a pretty stupid move. Also everything you said is complete bullshit especially the part about saying having sex makes you a fat loser.

Unless you're trolling, in which case good show sir.

  • see look here i game and yes i play mine every day but im in school im doing realy good and y is it if you play a game your addictoed?

  • if my dad was like him i would punch him then run and take my games with me

  • He plays for several hours a day? OH MY GOOOOOOOD! NOOOO WAAAAAAAY!

  • Here in Croatia is summer time and we dont have school...Its fucking hot here and what to do?...playing Black Ops multiplayer with friends...

  • What Andrew says from 1:00 to 1:15 is absolutely spot on.

  • Oh I am sorry for playing video games with my friends. How about we go smoke some dope or snort some sugar instead? Sounds great!

  • Rick is a Dick

  • this video has inspired me to stop playing video games and pick up some marijuana

  • league of legends is extremely addictive

  • Wait let me get this straight he's 20 years old & still in high school? Sad.

  • Wow this is retarded. This guy seems perfectly fine, WTF!?

  • Ummmh... what?

The dude seems fine. I think there is a problem with his parents.

Gaming addiction exists, but this is not the case.

  • How to stop someone from playing games even with internet cafes? Cut their allowance. Wait, the guy has a job, so he can pay for it himself? THEN WHAT IS THE PROBLEM!?!?!?

It's like drinking, and gambling - and that's the absolute worst you can see it as. I view it more as a lifestyle choice.

  • >.> Omg god kids getting together with common interest and having fun.. Gasp! We must put a stop to it. News flash parents, not every kid is social accepted in school or is good enough to play sports. Would you rather they get knocked up and drunk at teen parties are be at home in their room playing? At least you know where they are.

  • Some fucking bible thumpers trying to control someone who rightfully has the choice to make his own decisions. Like fuck off, some people are dumb!

  • Lol, andrew is just some fuckin normal kid. leave him alone. seems like his parents are the ones that need therapy.

  • why do they hate seeing their son enjoying doing something like that too much? if a kid plays the guitar all day you don't see his parents calling him an addict, he is just "talented"..

unless playing games hurts the kid its just a hobby, and hobbies are meant to kill time.. the father is not being overprotective of his son, hes being an idiot!

  • @baseballiszebest Thanks Bro. Gaming is a gift of technolodgy that improves hand eye co-ordination. Alcholism destroys your liver. Woo! Ban Gaming Lol, Look at the real problems :)

  • cool jacket xD

  • hey if ppl are addited 2 games whats the prob srly?

just cuz u sit on the pc for like 4-5 hours a day

but if u watch tv for like 7-8 its not an addiction right? o,e

    kinda find it stupid

and the kid actually has some points and i think his dad is being kinda overprotective

  • What people doesn't know , that in gaming its like the real world , you meet new people every day , you have some down times and fun times... the only different that its fun to do it . i'm addicted to gaming and i'm proud of it

  • I did not look at all at this video, so don't understand why I will have to react on it.

  • im 15th prestige! addiction?...no way >:D

  • this dude has no life

  • Gaming addiction: Best "disorder" there is!

  • i play 8 hours a day sometimes more

  • @robthatguyx cool.

  • The kid talks well.

  • Several hours a day hahaha. What do they want you to do? Watch TV during that time? I think you really have a problem if you play over 8 hours a day.

  • Gaming addiction...I love it but sometimes I hate it

(when I think that it eats my social life)

    P.S: League of Legends FTW

  • @asdcvbert Y same feelings lol

  • Its only an addiction if you hate it and want to stop, but cant. This kid is not addicted

  • HOPE HE FAILS FOR PLAYING MORE THAN ME!!!

  • keep pressing 7 he's a pervert

  • Gaming is for fun and it should stay that way.

  • Gaming Addiction = COMPLETE OVER REACTION

  • I can tell you straight up and I only watched 0:18 seconds what is wrong here basically the parent/s are being too soft simple get a back bone tell them what for and if they don't listen smack them silly until they do listen or throw the little beep out if he/she is old enough

(I'm a gamer and I chose to game)

  • Public Gaming Areas are not helping the addiction? Do they know Bars exist?

  • im not an addict im just a gamer ^^

  • so... you can watch dvds, for like, 4 hours straight, and thats ok?

  • Maybe we should shut down movie theatres and take their DVD players away too huh? Oh, wait...that's "normal".

  • It's not like the young lads are developing herion addictions or anything like that. There are so many worse things they could be doing.

  • This isnt unrealistic, dont know why they re makin a big deal, gamers consist of lil kids, teenagers, and adults. The kids have nothing to do, so they game all day, teenagers have nothing to do, they might have a part time job like what 2 days. They chose to spend their free time , all day in the mall, all day at home, either way ur being social, cuz ur gamin. Adults have no parents on their bak, they get home from work , play all night.

  • the liked comments are by gamers

  • That dad sounds like the one in the song "Institutionalized" by Suicidal Tendencies. i would hate that.

  • what the fuck at cofe shops what are we gonna have a joint while playing world of war craft WTF and by the way i play call of duty , minecraft and world of warcraft 80 hourers a day and i still have A and B at school so GTFO

  • what the fuck at cofe shops what are we gonna have a joint while playing world of war craft WTF

  • Blame Canada?

  • Daddy took the 20 year old's computer? what a fag.

  • lmao he hangs out with asians

  • PLAY COD or halo

  • wtf is with his jacket. he is a Loooooser xD

  • Its ironic that to the right of this video is an eve online gaming advert

  • When ever I hear the words gaming addiction, I think of spykids 3

  • 9 degress? god damn its cold...

  • i like how people say im addicted to xbox, yet most adults i know sit on their asses all day and watch tv, seems like when most of the population, mostly adults are addicted to television..its suddenly ok but when us kids/teenagers wanna play video games while the adults watch tv ..uh no we cant have that something must be done..."lets complain about pointless things that our children may be experiencing/enjoying..hopefully we can get money off this."

  • As long as you do what you need to do, it's no problem to play. I always do my homework and do stuff around the house, then I play games. But it should be okay to do w/e you want to do,like how the guy plays games a lot, as long as it isn't interfering with your life.

  • Ugh i hate how just because we play games for sometimes extended periods of time we are "addicted" this kids right If i were working out instead of playing games people would think oh THATS AWESOME! they would be like eww hes addicted to working out!

  • People who find gaming as an addiction so badly they cannot stop are most likely suffering from a disorder or something.

Seriously, I play games and stop playing whenever I feel like.

Its kinda sad how many people may call you addicted because you spend one day gaming 5 hours in a row... I mean seriously, perhaps we are just playing because we are bored, because we just came from school etc.

Gaming is not exactly dangerous... its just a way to sphere some time ;)

  • He right most people play because there a social outcast we don't have no friend so we look to video game it's a social thing no game thing get that through your thick mind America europe Asia and etc. Stop limiting are time it makes us more stressed are grade don't go down in tell are parents start getting suspicious and limit time then we start get more stress when we get bad grades and then so on

  • Dam I have an addiction...I can play League of Legend for 14+hrs straight.and everyday off work..just to lose cuz of MM system blows. I just uninstall all my PC games today and wrote a big note in my FACE. Hopefully i can stop wasting my life and focus on a better future.

  • It is not the game that is addicting I play black ops probably 6-7 hours a day on weekends (mostly at night from like 7pm-4am im a late person) and I only play for about an hour is none of my friends are online. I hate any game that Im not talking to actual people. It is defiantly a social addiction and that is more of a positive thing. I think most gamer would agree with this because it is true.

  • @SoopahUltraTV it explains it much better shows what addiction really is not like this that doesnt explain it very well

  • if the kid is doing fine in school and is healthy, what is the problem?

  • hey look mcdonald is Conan lol, or i just missed him for for quite some time.

  • Well just be glad its not a Crack addiction.

  • My dad used to limit my gaming time to weekends only. Then I moved to my mothers house. Which means, that there is no limit what so ever. My school grades shot up, when I moved to my mothers house. I need at least, 1 hour of vgames to relieve stress.

  • go to gaming cafes plant it and steal there passwords and sell thier golddd

  • theres a great program on bbc that talks about gaming addicton much better than this

  • What the fuck? There saying that playing games for a few hours a day is bad ?

    Fuck these people are ignorant.

  • @xLiam96 chill you are a fuckin trip

  • addicted......im not addicted......HANDS OFF MY LOOT!....QQ

  • ZOMFG! it is so sad i almost felt like crying. BUT I AM TO MANLY TO DO SUCH A THING!(jk we all do it, >.> Denying meant you cried recently[not officially] ) But seriously, kid gives a good reason, i mean if the kid wanted to go skateboard or play chess, if the parents accept it then its perfectly fine, but some parents are not accepting of it. Ive been gaming ever since i was little and my parents at times were against it but they know now that its not a problem(though they blame stuff on games)

  • i got black ops on christmas and the first day i played 11 hours then i played 10 then i play 6 hour and today my parents are making me take a brake cause i already played for 4 hours and tomarow i plan to play alot but in a couple of weeks the game will get boring to me and i will take a little brake but it is cold adn i cant go outside so what can i do

  • o its real all right i kno i got a problem i play like 19 hours a day. and im stuck in the game i dont want a job or anything.

  • it's not the games that are addictive it's the society, you can socialise with other gamers over the mic.

  • Oh and this father needs to get a life. His kid does what is needed hell he dosent even spend more than 5 hours a day. He goes to school, goes out with friends. All this "Gaming Addictiong" is is the media labling people who spend more than the "Normal" amount of time on a computer to have something wrong with them, some kind of a desease that is bad and should not be. Back 30 years games were only played by people who were fat and lived in a basement. Nowdays its normle too play some games.

  • @GrandDesignsSims ahahahahahah lmao at your comment yeah basement live with food.

Yeah dude like he does go to school goes out with friends? Whattahell u talkin bout' a addiction?

I spend myself usually like 2-8hrs a day with pc. need to get out of the fucking addiction im trying to get some help

  • So wait doing something you love constantly is bad? Sure I play on and off throughout my day, I spend most of my time behind my computer and xbox but that dosent mean im adicted does it? It just means I am doing something that I find fun, Im not fat, sure im not fit but I am health, I go to school, I constantly get up and spend 5 mins with family making conversation, Get out of my room at were my family is in the lounge. Go bck to my room at about 7 most nights.

  • @GrandDesignsSims I am not addicted to my computer even though I spend the same amount of time as addicts. The reason is because I can pull myself away from the game and do something with my family, cleen up something around the house. I do not need to get to that next level as soon as possable, sure when I am in the midle of a game I would like 5 mins to complete it but after that I get up and do whats needed.

  • @GrandDesignsSims Addiction isnt about how much you do something but wether you can stop doing it if needed to.

  • are you saying they take a harddrive to the library to play world of warcraft or left 4 dead

    that is fucking EPIC

  • 1:40 - 1:50 is the answer

  • i play games alot but if tests are coming up ill revise i can take it or leave it so can most people

  • well the media are always filling our minds about how unsafe it is outside, and how gun crime and knife crime an shit is on the rise, so what do they expect?

were not encouraged to go out and socialise anymore, and when we find other ways to have fun and socialise its the start of the apocalypse all of a sudden.

dont get me wrong, im not saying sitting in front of a screen all day is good for anybodies health, but until someone's got a better idea then this is it.

    twiddlywinks anyone? :-/

  • If you're kid is going to school, getting off school and playing video games all day, I fail to see a problem with that.

  • Staying on the computer is not like being addicted to sports. Playing stimulates the brain. But online gaming fills your head withs swords guns etc. which rots the brain. Playing online for 5 hours is sitting and clicking but moving is better.

  • @TheKayandblake Sure there are benifits to sports but saying people who play games for 5+ hours have no brains because of "Mind rot" is totaly retarded. Gaming has showed that it stimulates far more brain activity than most sports. What are you going to do? Force people who just do not have an interest in sports to play? You cant dictate people to do something they dont want to do. It is just uncalled for.

  • He looks like Liam Neeson.

  • Addication is a choice not a disease, and seriously every topical paper i've done that has to have counterpoints, i choose this. People in general don't realise that games aren't evil, in a sense they're educational. I learned high school level vocabulary when i was a kid, from just playing final fantasy for hours. Sure its a waste of time, but people waste they're time on dumber things.

  • the time spent shouldn't matter at all as long as the person realises its not the most important thing in the world. and even if it is pushing out more important stuff it has nothing to do with addiction but rather the person should learn what the rest of us like to call "managing your life"

  • Runescape sucks

  • Not very true about the loser thingie lol, I was addicted to games. Still am, but I have a addicting personality. I have been addicted to smoking/weed/sex/sport. Everything that gives me this dopamine shot, I cannot controll myself.

  • dude the solution is Introduce a Vigina into His life, Sex > Video Game.

  • Andrew is actually right. he speaks the truth

  • Hahaha "Well thats a great idea!"

  • Gaming is NOT an addiction, it is a passion. I mean ffs you can be addicted to your sport, job etc. and people don't give a shit. But when you start playing a video game which in some cases can even make you more intelligent, then that's a big no no.

  • @HowtoOfficial Whoa! I almost passed out you're suck a dork.

  • @HowtoOfficial exactly. people think you cant learn things from video games and its unhealthy. bullshit. nintendo brought out brain training games even for older adults and also the wii fit thing. ps introduced the buzz quiz series. mmo's can teach team work, build confidence with others and help solve problems in different ways. if you can manage your own time well, video games work. i know people that are in their 30s/40s that play video games regularly and still have time for other things

  • lol i like how some people argue that gaming is bad if you spend alot of time on it... consider the time you have wasted watching videos on you tube commenting on just how bad video games are. i used to play alot of video games but then i got addicted to face book and you tube.

  • I've heard that watching television, and especially television news is addictive. I think that it should be banned outright.

  • I do know some game companies try to make the video games addictive so that you will buy the next version of that game

  • @def2humans421 EVERY video game company has that intent.

  • @def2humans421 if it is not addictive than why the hell would you be playing it? Addictive is just a dysphemism for fun.

  • i truely agree with this! my brother is addicted to gameing! he skips meals because of it! he even runs the whole way home sometimes because of this addiction! hell even stay up till 2 oclock in the morning when hes got school the next day! i feel bad for the kid but its gotta stop!

  • realy dont know why people have so much againts gaming -.-

  • what i think to be fair is that gaming and computing is still a young industry and hasn't won over the older generation purely because it isn't what they are used to and they have no idea how deep it goes. but i still agree that it was an addiction for me, im a grade 4 guitarist and i could have easily been grade 7 by now if not for gaming, but if you want to spend time on games then fair enough, the older generation shouldn't have a problem in enjoying your hobby, it isn't right

  • As soon as someone sees another person taking up something they personally dont like as a hobby, they call it an addiction. This is sad. Why is there not fishing and hunting addiction, golfing addiction, basketball addiction, tailgating addiction, ...?

  • @GRKiller im so addicted to gaming and pc as like the pc. but i gotta admit is that a joke? or u serious?sarcasm? if srious thats not true.

  • @xLycosax I'm saying it's ridiculous that things that are obviously non addictive (as in there is no chemical secreted by gaming that creates an addiction) are called "addictions". I dont call LeBron James a basketball addict because he likes basketball. He's just doing something he enjoys, same as this kid.

  • @GRKiller That isn't entirely true. Gaming causes emotional responses, emotional responses are governed by brain chemistry. In fact all addiction including substance addiction is the result of attempting to trigger the chemical rewards offered by the brain, not the substance or activity itself.

  • @GRKiller i feel you man. good point

  • @GRKiller I had that same exact mind set. I USED to, because that is an ignorant mind set. A hobbie is something someone does for fun when they have free time. But when your on your ass playing blackops(or any game) for hours straight a day and not going to the bathroom "cuz ur in a middle of a round" or not doing homework. YOURE ADDICTED. People dont do "hobbies" every hour of every single day.

  • @GRKiller

    TOTALY AGREED

  • @GRKiller um there are addictions like that....

  • @GRKiller Have you met people that obsessively fish 10 hours a day, 7 days a week? I haven't.

  • @GRKiller i agree strongly but i also agree its dangerous to be a game addict.

  • @GRKiller How many people do you know that spend all day, every single day fishing? and that loose sleep and skip meals over fishing? and neglect family, friends and important day-to-day activities to fish?

It's not the same at all.

  • @Chris180Z Theres a song by a country singer named Brad Paisley about just that, go figure.

... and you completely missed my point. ANYTHING can be "addictive" (and yes, I know dudes who have dropped classes in college in order to go play pickup basketball games), the media just chooses to go after games since their target audience (middle aged people) loves to see it.

  • @GRKiller I know anything can be addictive, but if you look around you at how long people typically spend on games and then how many hours typically a bball player play bball then it's not hard to see that gamesers spend way more time on games than a avarage bball player does playing bball. I'm not attacking games, I am a huge gamer,it's just I am writing a paper on this and it's so misunderstood. Gamers seems to get verty defensive over this, ANYTHING can be addictive, games are no exceptions.

  • hey guys i made a website about obsessive gaming for a school project

please check it out and post a comment [feel free to rant as much as you want]

    obsessivegaming.webs.com

...and pretty please don't mark me as spam, i need a good grade on this project or else i'll epicly fail and i'll go cry in a corner and cut myself :(

  • "The key to success is getting parents and children on the same page."

So the goal is to convince the kid in question that they have a problem?

Last I heard, counselors were supposed to treat problems in behavior, not create them.

  • anyone else think the kid makes a valid point?

  • @subteleferic22 about the social scene
