I saw this movie in theaters when i was 6 after christmas day 24 years ago and MY GOD it terrified the hell out of me cause i did loved Disney's version of Pinocchio and was excited about this movie then it disturbed and terrified me as i was clinging on my mom when i saw this in one of the mall theaters in St. Louis that night and had a few nightmares, and when i rented this movie i would run away when the scene is about to show as i would hide one of my house's bathrooms until it was over

I didn't even see this when I was a kid, not even knowing about until I was like 11 or 12. But I can't help but agree with you all. It's even more scary seeing as the bad guy here has actually done this to other children. BTW, I no longer think the Tod and Copper fighting/grizzly bear scenes from The Fox and the Hound are among the scariest scenes in the history of animation. I found the fight scary because Todd makes this really demented face.

I always thought the scene in The Last Mimsy was scary where the little girl that finds the stuffed rabbit from the future (forgot her name) and she sticks her face into the fuzzy globe thing and she sees pictures and stuff and tries to get her face out then when she does, she looks like she is having a seizure. Listen to that music, it reaches deep down into the soul and has that threatening tone that makes us tremble in fear. Of course, if another music was playing instead, this scene would make people go "Ah crap, our hero is turned back into a puppet..." but with this music, it makes us think of the horrors and fate the puppets have to go through. No longer having the right to move by their own will.
