Skins were an offshoot from the Mods when they started getting all psychedelic and shit. Original Skins listened to Ska, Rocksteady and Soul. The Skins of 68-69 need to be looked at in the context of the time, while fiercely patriotic, some did indulge in some Paki bashing etc mainly due to ignorance and fear. They were however not at that time associated with the far right - this was later in the late 70's and early 80's. Unfortunately the majority of people only remember this minority.

The wonder about Woody's past life. If you remember from the film Woody makes a statement welcoming Combo back from prison and says "this man took the fall for me he kept his mouth closed" I understand that combo turned racist but it appears that Woody and other skinheads were caught up n some criminal activities. Great movie, but I think too much emphasis was put on Combo, who turned racist . They should have focused more on Milky and the roots of it all- the Jamaican-influenced side of it. That's the side the public needs to be educated on, anyway. The media already spreads lies about how skinhead is a "racist" phenomenon. But true skinheads know the National Front hijacked the scene to recruit angry British youth.
