In a much, much earlier interview, during the Johto Journeys, when asked about the ages of the the main protagonists (Ash, Misty, and Brock), Tajiri stated that "Ash and Misty are the same age, while Brock is only two years older". And since Dawn has just started her journey in Season 10, then you are right, and she is only 10 years old (and a total priss!).

Dawn is a stupid priss! She has a Pikachu-obsessed rabbt for one of her Pokemon! Another one is stuck up, a third one is a voracious eater and is listless and cranky all the time (or for simpler terms, a Garfield), and a fourth one left her to play ping pong! Obviously, she fails as a Trainer and she fails at life!
