I was a LPN for 10 years. Please do your self a favor and get your RN!! LPN's are no longer being hired in the facility I work in. Their role has being steadily diminished despite the scope of practice that is recognized by the state board of nursing or nurse practice acts for a particular state. LPN's are allowed only to pass medications and may start IV's if certified or "data collection" If you want to work in an acute setting become an RN in fact get a BSN that will will be entry level.
Yes LVNs have full rights as a nurse to do IVs and phlebotomy with proper certification , usually a IV Bllod Withdrawl class, then they do assesments and administer meds, only thing is LVNs do not have autonomy, they are under supervision of either a Physician, Registered nurse, Physicians Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
yes they do... but it depends on the facility/hospital you work for if they allow LVNs to do blood withdrawal as different places have different protocols. Like in one home health agency, they may allow their visiting LVNs to obtain blood specimens. but others don't but first you need to get an IV and bloodwithdrawal certfification for LVN's.
yes i am CNA now but in the future i wanna be a LVN but i am checking is very very expensive this carrier my dream its going down
