Hate to prove you wrong, but moped is a portmanteau of MO-torized PED-al bike. Immediately following WWII, attaching a small motor onto a bicycle was seen as a cheap form of transport. what happened to the lowly moped of the 50's through 80's? emissions became tougher, gas was cheaper, and the baby boomer generation had all grown up.

The bike in this video would be classified as minibikes with a step-through design, not mopeds

in europe mopeds are very common and roadregistered 50cc's are called moped, according to europeean laws.

They are very common for young people becaus in most countries they are allowed from the year of 15. and cars are from 18.
