By the time this movie is made all candidates will be too old. the character of artemis will have to be portrayed by some newly dicovered young actor as he is twelve in the first book. also, even though statham is not as solid as butler in the book he most resembles him.

Personally Ithink Frankie Muniz (Malcolm from the show Malcolm in the Middle) should get the role of Artemis, and Arnold Schwarzenneger should be Butler.

I LUV Artemis Fowl!!! I started looking on my classroom bookshelf for a book o read. I had seen them over there before, but I NEEDED a book to read so I grabbed it. I am almost on the 3rd one. Okay so the characters suck I read the whole series of Artemis Fowl, and there NOTHING as I would expect them to be I'm dissapointed. I think with movies it's easier to cast someone that has the acting chops to play the role, and then worry about what they look like. Jason Staham, as an actor, is perfect imo. Sure, he's not tall enough, but what actors in Hollywood are almost 7ft tall and can pull the role? probably none. Directors have a lot of tricks up their sleeve to make people look taller than they really are. look at Hagrid in the HP movies

i thought about him too..but he's too old to play 12-year-old Artemis...besides he's gonna be in Percy Jackson...so i don't think he'll be in it...haha..lest we confuse him with criminal mastermind or a half-blood...erm..i know i said to much...pls don't feel offended...I think Logan's cute too..^^

Personally Ithink Frankie Muniz (Malcolm from the show Malcolm in the Middle) should get the role of Artemis, and Arnold Schwarzenneger should be Butler.

I prefer Holly in thr books, because I think that she would really look that way. I am SO making a cast list. I thinl her and Opal she be played by older looking kids or short adults.

I think its all pretty good!
Except Artemis sucked....that guy looks nothing like an Artemis.
Currently I am sticking with Freddie Highmore, although he seems too nice, he can act it.
I say that because his face, and hair have the right picture in my mind, he just has to do GOOD acting.
Jason Statham is good for Butler, however I think Butler deserves a HUGE wrestler or someone. I am thinkign someone along the lines of Dave Batista from WWE.
Good cast, but difficult to cast all.

I LUV Artemis Fowl!!! I started looking on my classroom bookshelf for a book o read. I had seen them over there before, but I NEEDED a book to read so I grabbed it. I am almost on the 3rd one. I would have been there sooner, but I am VERY busy for a 6th grader. Thinking about a boy MY age that is a genius and gets to meet fairies is OUTSTANDING!!! I love anything that has to do with mythology.

in my own personal oppinion i think child actors should play holly,opal n artemis bcause holly likes artemis but i would be freky if holly is played by an adult and opal bcause i will stay true 2 the book n artemis 4 odvious reasons

Okay so the characters suck I read the whole series of Artemis Fowl, and there NOTHING as I would expect them to be I'm dissapointed. Artemis Fowl, and Mr.Diggums we're my favorite characters Artemis Fowl's character SUCKS Mulch's look the best out of all of the characters because the person actually fits what he would like in real life we all pictured Butler being huge in the book, and shouldn't Opal be ugly she is the sexiest character out of them all so yeah this kinda sucks I'm dissapointed.

I think with movies it's easier to cast someone that has the acting chops to play the role, and then worry about what they look like. Jason Staham, as an actor, is perfect imo. Sure, he's not tall enough, but what actors in Hollywood are almost 7ft tall and can pull the role? probably none. Directors have a lot of tricks up their sleeve to make people look taller than they really are. look at Hagrid in the HP movies

Hm. A lot of the people you put here are really good, but I think that the casting director might find a better Artemis Sr., Artemis Jr., and Spiro. =/
But I love the books! I've only read the first one (about several times..xD) but I've read bits and pieces of the others and they all sound great!

perfect for butler, jason statham, ok good for trouble, ok he could pull off a root but i think he's a little tall, i guess for opal, definitely for holly short, great one for foaly, nice for juliet, err maybe for artemis's dad, ok good for the mom, not for jon spiro, i think they could use some1 a little more mobster looking, yes for mulch, i guess for arno, ok good for grub
