Traktor was around before SSL, BUT, It wasnt a DVS, It was a software only DJ tool. DVS means Digital Vinyl System, and Traktor has no Vinyl option until after SSL.
Final Scratch was tho, but I wouldnt consider V1 of FS to be a DVS, Because it was the biggest pain in the ass!! You needed to run on Linux, when back spinning you got white noise instead of music playing backwards and the software crashed constantly. FS2 was slightly better, but then SSL dropped and killed FS dead in its tracks.
this is an excellent video, best one showcasing the bridge I've seen yet. I have ableton and an APC40, but am having a hard time deciding which turntable to get. I'd like to go the CDJ/Midi controller route.. any recommendations? im leaning towards the Numark ndx800 or the American Audio Radius 1000 or 3000. do you know if ill be able to use these controller with serato scratch live? Will I need a timecode cd? or can I just control it through midi?
@gammaplayer There is a "Feeling" of being connected via Serato, with the CDJ or Turntable, that you just don't get from the APC40/ other midi interface, especially if you scratch, it is too hard to create an analogue experience 100% in the digital world. The variance/ Human error factor with the turntables add's to the the sound/ art of the scratch. It's our flaws that make turntableism so special.
@Twentysixbillion its been a feature of serato for along time... you can change between 4 modes. its all on prefrance. I dont know how you havnt seen it before most serato djs i know play with it vertical or wave forms off.
@clanoue1167 I come from vinyl mixing so it's all new to me. I really like Traktors horizontal waveform it feels much more natural to me having worked with software DAW's, but I'm not sold on either yet.
i love how i go to a few traktor vids and all they talk about is how djs can... cut corners, make it simpler, easier. then i click a few serato vids and read ur comment... "most serato djs i know play with it vertical or wave forms off" wave forms off loll :P i think imma have to get serato seems much more professional
@Twentysixbillion That would be a no since Serato was around long before Traktor..... And you can change the way the waveforms are displayed in Serato from Vertical to Horizontal or to a stacked horizontal where you can have 3 decks displayed at the same time........

When the only thing played in serato is an acapella why not dump serato and do it all with Ableton/Maschine? I don't see the sense.

Did Serato make the soundwave vertical so it didn't look like Traktors horizontal one? It looks very wrong to me

@Twentysixbillion
YOU CAN CHOOSE BETWEEEN EITHER IN SERATO, AND A COUPLE OF OTHER SOUND WAVE MAPS.

Ur beat is painful.

The only thing impressive about this video is the scratching. Try Omnisphere or M3 for some legit synths.
