you cant get any heroin from the plant itself...there are 2 major psychoactive substances in the poppy: codeine and morphine. Heroin is a chemical derivate of morphine.

well that depends on the size of the pod. I am not sure how much milk is needed for 1 dose if you are going to smoke it, but if you want to make some poppy tea, just use dried pods (1-3), get rid of the seeds and grind the pod. This is best to do with a coffee grinder, but you can also use mortar and pestle. Then pour boiling water over the grinded pods and let sit for 15minutes, strain it and drink....but dont boil the pods!

I have heard this a few times but can't grasp why.

morphine and codiene do not decompose until very high temperature, thats how come you can smoke them at probably about 300 degrees +!

@tpvalley morphine, codeine etc. degrade at cca.82 degrees Centigrade. when you smoke it, you never apply direct fire to the opium, you just heat it until it vaporizes, therefore reaching only relatively low temperatures

Thebaine is also present, but its effects are more toxic, resembling strychnine poisoning and yet, Thebaine is used in the manufacture of oxycodone, oxymorphone, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, and etorphine. Thebaine and Oripavine are also found in the "Oriental Poppy", Papaver orientalis and Papaver bracteatum.

u need 8 gram opium for 1 gram heroin. average.

one plant will make about maybe a gram of opium or more, plus opium varies in strength.

if grown in england its not that good, in higher intensity light like mountains in afghanistan or vietnam it grows very well.
