  • This is... amazing! It restores my faith in music to know that there are guys out there like this :)

  • great sound !!!!!

  • I like how the saxophone is played with intensity, it reminds me of Anthony Braxton.

  • it's not the black metal band !!!

  • how i love theses guys... blackjazz is one of the most achieved work i've heard for years and this cover of weather report is huge!!!

  • Thumns up for Fender Rhodes, best electric piano imo.

  • Magma proof....search for Magma De Futura (Paris 1977 recording)

  • Wow...just bought some old records from Magma...and this sounds like Magma on metal ! The drummer seems to be influences by Christian Vander ! But I could be wrong...

  • What I love about black metal is its diversity and experimentation. Bands like Ved Buens Ende, Sigh, Ulver, DHG, Aborym etc. have been challenging the idea of what black metal is for years. There's a definate influence throughout the album but many other influences also (see King Crimson cover for starters). Many of the most interesting bands can never be put into 1 category and black jazz is as close as you'll ever get and catchier than experimental avant-garde black industrial jazz metal.

  • krasser scheiß... daumen hoch

  • Great stuff, for faen

  • Bunch of fucked up dudes from norway. I like it !

  • wonderful!!!! i love this so highly<3

  • the ending bit is sex

  • Shame about the sync, but killer anyway.

I'm guessing the title refers to the fusion band?

  • does anyone know where this is?

  • @OakKeeper - Live at the Øya Festival in Oslo, Norway, 8 August 2007

  • What's that instrument he plays at 3:08?

  • @rambadibow "AKAI EWI4000s" wind synthesizer

  • some one please!! synch this shows!!

  • @pawnielpanter says the kid with some emo bands in his favorites, lol!

  • oh, really, little emo rocker?

  • The part at 3:10 is beutiful !

  • inspired by King Crimson?..

  • I totally agree, it's SHINING!! Fantastic =D

  • i think its neither Blackmetal nor Jazz...

    It SHINING!!!

    amazing...

  • This is quite unique. Blending Jazz and Black metal is not exactly cliché. I just wished i could sense more jazz feeling and/or black metal feeling... sure its mellow, dissonant, technical and has a lot of jazz style playing. But to me its more inspired by it, and doesnt have that very typical black metal feeling, or jazz feeling for that matter. its more like jazz and bm inspired chaos or something.

Still cool though, nice drum grooves. coll with that electric woodwind.

  • I really don't get where do you hear black metal at all in this track. I guess that without the obvious reference to the famous swedish band, there would be no such associations.

  • @93riven I agree with you. There is not much or any black metal on this track. Their latest work on Blackjazz, is another story. That's where all the black metal references come from.

  • @nunoepls I've only heard a single song from Blackjazz, but still could not hear anything black metal about it :)

  • @93riven Indeed, you are right.

This sounds more like : Rush meets some kind of dark Jazz than Black metal meets Jazz. I still think it is cool nonetheless

  • @93rivenmaybve because its not black metal, its black jazz. Also, don't judge a band by one song.........

  • @93riven I don't think the black metal tag fits this particular song, but black metal has always been a very diverse genre, and I think Shining have edged closer and closer to it, especially on Blackjazz.

  • @somefierce I don't hear anything 'black metal' about it. and I listen to some pretty diverse stuff, also in the bm genre. whatever, it's good music nonetheless.

  • @93riven Have you heard the album "Blackjazz"? Listen to that and understand.

  • @93riven Probably because this track is from one of their earlier albums that was released 5 years before 'Blackjazz.' Also as their career evolved their association with the progressive black metal band Enslaved on their latest album was very influential to their sound. Either way, i like jazzy Shining and heavy Shining - I expect great things from their next album :)

  • i think i would just label it very progressive metal. it reminds me more of dream theater or liquid tension, than charlie parker + mayhem, i must say.

  • Best. Band. Ever! <3

  • Love the use of the EWI.

  • Mad Genius!

  • I have never liked saxophone. I have allways hated the screaming sound. I still do. But you guys make me understand why that horrible sound is so important to the world of music.

I don't like jazz either, so why oh why do I find myself buying two of your albums and loving them both. YOU GUYS FUSTRATE ME.

  • Sooo...maybe by now discovered you actually do like some jazz as well? :-p ...and that way you also discovered that saxophones can be very soothing as well...and that you won't generalize like that ever again? :-p

  • @Fanouriou gay

  • @Fanouriou because you were listening to the wrong kind of jazz. jazz is probably the most diverse kind of music, it's unwise to say "I don't like jazz" without being specific. jazz is awesome, btw :DDDD

  • Luuuuuv da shit

  • definately sick!

  • great song.

    thanks for posting this...
