• Great tutorial thank you!

  • these inveciles that some teachers believe teaching but not build the cube that are explained sedan for themselves morons gross

  • @manutonato It would have been better if you just posted that in Spanish/Portugese and not used Google Translate.....or maybe even just wrote some random words. Please try again

  • You play the guitar in Van Halen rovk band??

  • @dra1221 Yes, but although I have played with them forever they never changed the bandname to van Galen

    (are you dislexic?)

  • @ceaser47:

    1. make the cross CORRECTLY

    2. put 3 corners in CORRECTLY

    3. put in 3 or 4 middle layer edges while using the empty corner on the bottom(keyhole)

There are several ways of finishing after doing the first 3 middle layer edges:

    1. Put in the last bottom corner, then the last middle layer edge (like beginner method, 3 algs needed

    2. Put in the last middle layer edge, then the last bottom corner, 11 algs needed

    3. Put them in at the same time (like Fridrich but unmatched. 42 algs needed

  • theres a lot of cases u didnt explain for this every time i get the middle layer the first layer is never solved and il have the bottom solved but all of the pieces will be in the wrong spot...

  • goede video

    doe je ook andere kubissen?

    zoals sqaure-1 en 4x4

  • THANKS! This can be a great stepping stone (for me anyways) from the beginners method to the fridrich method!

  • This came up because I'm a Chad VanGaalen fan but I decided to watch it anyway. don't understand anything. I have alot of respect for people who can figure these things out. Great video!

  • It's surprisingly quick to learn these, funny enough.

  • thanks!!

  • 1:55 Oh god I hate it when that happens! xD

  • just use R2 U2 F R2 F' U2 R' U' R'

  • I can't tell what you are saying from 4:33 to 4:40.

    Please tell me.

  • You can chose what method you want to use for the 4th empty slot. I think.

  • wtf i dont get it..

  • Thanks.!

    :D

  • thnx man en ja het is te horen dat je nederlands bent ;)

  • U-layer White Up: (RUR'U') 3x

    U-layer White Front: (U' R U' R') U2 (R U' R')

    U-layer White Right: I'm not sure about this one, the one Arnaud posted doesn't work by me. (R U' R' U2 R U' R')

    D-layer White Down: Solved

    D-layer White Front:(R U' R' ) U (R U' R')

    D-layer White Right: R U2 R U R' U R U2 R2

  • ahm yeah thanks for the nice tutorial but ive one question? how do i get the 4th white cornerpiece in the right position without messing up the middle spot above it?

  • the usual way u put them in

    Ri Di R D ( right inverted , down inverted , right down ) i figured out myself =P

  • i looked at all the videos but this helped the most i can do it now

  • Thanks so much. Why don' tthey just teach this in the beginners method. I got the beginners method pretty fast, but I got it even faster with this.

  • thx alot this could same a lot of time! =D

btw u dutch?? u sound dutch...

  • thanks so much man!

  • how do u make the cube more slick so it can turn easier

  • There are lots of tutorials on how to lubricate your Rubik's cube. Just type in Rubik's cube lube on YouTube :D

  • Many thanks! Superb!

  • Thank You SOOOO Much!!

  • how do you put the last 4th corner back

  • I posted the algs for this a while ago, so I will just repost those:

That depends on the position+orientation of the last corner

    U-layer White Up: (RUR'U')*3 or R2U R2U R2U2 R2

    U-layer White Front: y' R' U R U2 R' U R

    U-layer White Right: R U' R' U2 R U' R'

    D-layer White Down: Solved

    D-layer White Front: y' R' U2 R' U' R U' R' U2 R2

    D-layer White Right: R U2 R U R' U R U2 R2

  • what does the y' mean?

I undersand the rest of the algorithms but that one keeps going wrong XD

  • y' means you turn the whole cube 90 degrees anti clockwise.

  • HELP!

I can't get the 2nd and 3rd (and havent come across 5th yet) algorithms! I don't get how you see if the last piece is front or right! And does y' mean you rotate the cube 90 degrees counter-clockwise according to top (yellow)?

  • Does anyone know a fast way to get the 4 corner pieces (or with this method 3).

    I always do -- R' D' R D -- Somethings i got to do it 5times to get 1 cornerpiece.

    Please help this beginner:(..

  • What I do is look at where the top face color is in the corner piece. Here is what to do in each scenario:

    Left: D' R' D R

    Right: R' D' R

    Bottom: R' D' D' R D R' D' R

It is much faster than repeating R' D' R D a bunch of times once you get used to it. Also, this will not work for when you're at the final step getting the last face's corners. You have to use R' D' R D there.

  • Thanks!

This will help me a lot

  • I get 20-22 sec on average with keyhole + 3 look ll i get 28-35 sec with fridrich f2l

  • How long have you been using keyhole and how long have you been using Fridrich F2L?

  • lol ur fingers are going to fast for ur camera xD

  • i read on the speedsolving forums that you insert the 4 edges then the last corner. any possibility of videos examples?

  • Heeej Arnaud wat gaaf! Hoe gaat het met jou?

  • which method is the quickest to solve the cube??

  • god's algorithm

other than that, petrus or fridrich + zbll and/or vh system

  • theoretically, you can solve every cube in 18 or less moves, but you would have to learn like a few bazillion 1-move algorithms

  • oops i meant 23

  • good keyhole explanation and u did the cross freaking fast at 2:30 lol

  • F2L is kinda more used lol keyhole not much used but recommended for begginners ^^

  • if u now wat ur doing that flipped thing wont acure and if u already no exact movements for algoryhthem u no can be faster than if u used this and possed

  • not that good for speed cubing though

  • he uses it himself with speedcubing andhes around 20 secs so its not that abad

  • wow that i pertty good but i still like fredrich

  • ye i use it too, but i average like 38 seconds ^^ he cubes longer than me tho

  • lol my fredrich i average 32 sec buti too havent been cubing long

  • you know full fridrich ? :O

  • ya its pretty intuitive

  • what do you mean with that? intuitive f2l?

  • it means that there arent realy any algs just cases if u want there are algs for every case but thats kindof worth less

  • ya, but its not kind of useless lol

  • i dont use algs i just remember by the colors lol

  • It's so obvious you're dutch, but good vid

  • What do you mean, BUT.

    Like being Dutch is bad.

  • nothing in particulair, just an adverb, i'm quarter dutch.3-0 Disastro Donadoni

  • but is a conjunction not an abverb shitdick

  • "conjunction, junction; whats your function"

    lol

Thanks for the valued lesson in grammar max...

I am looking for a relatively simple F2L for a full solve of 40 seconds average I am working on a full fridrich pll with a 2look oll should I stick to an intuitive fridrich and hope i improve, learn algs for fridrich, Change my method to this, or otherwise?

  • I am new to the notation of xyz, what do they refer to?

  • Whole cube turns.

  • Sorry, I should've seen the whole video + read comments. Sorry.

  • How do you stop the middle one being flipped the wrong way?

  • Nevermind ^^

  • Sorry, do mind. The last one, that's flipped incorrectly, is there a way to avoid that?

  • Thanks a lot!!! Your method saves me a lot of time!!thanks!

  • Thanks dude that takes a couple of seconds off of my solve!

  • One, two, free.....

  • omg!

    you are hilarious!!!

    haha

  • haha sowie :) I gots negatives comments hehe lol

  • Bedankt voor de duidelijke uitleg!^^

  • that's quite usefull thx!

  • After you plug in all four of the second layer edges how do you put the corner back?

  • That depends on the position+orientation of the last corner

    U-layer White Up: (RUR'U')*3 or R2U R2U R2U2 R2

    U-layer White Front: y' R' U R U2 R' U R

    U-layer White Right: R U' R' U2 R U' R'

    D-layer White Down: Solved

    D-layer White Front: y' R' U2 R' U' R U' R' U2 R2

    D-layer White Right: R U2 R U R' U R U2 R2

  • thanks man!

  • If the middle egde needs flipping use R2, D2, F, R2, Fi, U2, Ri, Ui, Ri.

  • Could you write that down in standard notation? (DFRBLU dfrblu xyz)

  • well, umm, sure. I thought I was using standard notation. Here we go:

    2R, 2U, F, 2R, F', 2U, R', U, R'. If that's not right, then oh well. I guess then I don't know standard notation

  • where did you get that algorithm?

  • Which algorithm? Most of them I made up myself or learned from deepcubeDOTnet

  • you should time yourself to do f2l with begginer, fredrich, and keyhole and tell us which 1 is the fastest

  • Beginner: 18

    Keyhole: 15

    Fridrich: 18

But these times would only be comparable if I practised them equally, which I haven't. I have been using beginners for 15 years (on and off), keyhole for 2 years (thousands of solves) and Fridrich for 1 month (intuitive, not algs). Fridrich will be by far the fastest after equal amount of practise

  • what did you use to lubricate your cube?

  • Silicone spray from Griffon and the "floor wax" that is included with Rubiks Do It Yourself cubes (lubethecube also sells it I believe)

  • o thanks

  • Thank you for this video! You rock! I did my f2l easier!!!

  • Thank you for this video! You rock! I did my f2l easier!!!

  • where did you get the 5x5x5 from coz i want one now ; )

  • I got it from rubiksDOTcom, but I buy cubes from cube4you right now

  • cheersh

  • cheersh back to you :)

    Just so everybody knows:

At the benelux Open 2008 I got a 24.26 official average using this method and a 4 look last layer.

At my next competition I will probably use "regular" Fridrich F2L and hopefully a 3 look last layer.

  • congrats!

    <25 seconds is very impressive

let me just say that keyhole helped me understand the cube better, instead of just putting together algorithms

it has cut my solve time from 4 to about 2-3 minutes (i just got my cube, so im still a noob :P)

  • 3 look only requires 7 more algs thankfully.

  • This is the method I started with. You did a good job of explaining it, though. When I try to teach my friends they can't get it because I'm a horrible teacher.

  • what type of cube is that in the backround

  • Rubiks 5x5x5

  • thanks man!! you really helped me a lot

  • You know what you are doing but please do it slowly. It's really hard to follow your pace. The methods that suppose to be simpler becomes more difficult. The fast pace makes everything confusing.

  • this is a method that is supossed to help make u a speed solver, it will be fast yes, because you should know what hes talking about by now

  • the first part is really confusing...how do you get all the colors that fast?

  • i always get the colors in the right spot but switched....

  • You should learn the order of the colors on your cube. I have this memory-trick to remember opposite colors:

    light = yellow white

    fire = red orange

    sea = green blue

Another memory-trick is BOY (blue orange yellow) on Up-Right-Front

  • I have another question:

In the video you spin layers without any effort, while i have to use force if i try doing it fast, is my cube broken or do you spin so accurately that it doesn't get stuck? Becouse some friends say it has to be that hard to spin... Should i buy a new cube?

  • Actually, I am not a very fast turner/spinner. You should watch some videos by Harris Chan, Erik Akkersdijk, Yu Nakajima, Edouard Chambon or any other top cuber. They can turn about twice as fast as me. Having a good cube helps, but performing almost perfect 90 degree turns is also important

  • Dit is cool, ik doe het nu op de manier van pogobat maar dan iets beter door algorythims die

ik zelf bedacht heb, maar nu ga ik dit leren en wat zal ik hierna gaan leren om een speedcuber te worden?

  • Layer by Layer -> Keyhole -> CFOP/Petrus/Roux

  • He jij bent de eerste nederlander die ik zie weet jij misschien waar ik nieuwe stickers kan krijgen????

  • New stickers: cubesmith! (or maybe kubuswinkelDOTnl

  • Hey, its andrewvo1324 from the forums.

How can i in cooperate the keyhole method into a

    frid f2l?

  • First learn beginners, then keyhole, then Fridrich, then use keyhole again during Fridrich to save moves (try this scramble D R U R' D')

  • Yea i know begginers,keyhole and frid.

  • A newbie quesion:

Is there any real difference wether you hold the first (usually white) cross downwards or upwards?

  • No real difference. Only if you are getting fast (sub 30) you should minimize rotations of the cube and optimize lookahead.

Putting the cross on bottom (or left) is better

  • very good! it is really easy to understand, please show a link or make another vid for the 'advanced' part of keyhole thanks! (=

  • When you mention near the end a method which is more advance but requires more algorithms. Could you give me a link to a specific page with the exact ones you use or let me know what algorithms you use?

    Thanks

  • I learned from deepcubeDOTnet, but that seems to be down at the moment

  • i already know fridrich, do you think i should bother learning this and fridrich for the last corner or just stick with her way. please message me cos ive deactivated the email when i receive a reply thing

  • Thanks a lot for the video. I am now beginning to put the keyhole method into my normal beginners method. As of yet it hasn't been much faster but as i get used to using keyhole im sure it will be.

    Thanks

  • Cute Dutch accent!! <3

  • How do you know? Are you Dutch and if so, have we met?

  • Nope. I'm just a French-Canadian girl, but I've studied enough languages to recognize various accents. ;)

  • This is just a Rubiks DIY. I now use on from Cube4You (black type-A) and it is a little better.

  • where did u get ur cube, i use diy but i need a better 1, plz tel me and my average is 43 seconds

    thanks

  • This Doesnt Apply To My Cube :(, I Cant Get 3 Edges Right And 1 Wrong It Just Doesnt Work. Please Explain.

  •
I Cant Get 3 Edges Right And 1 Wrong
If I understood your question correctly you have all middle layer edges on their correct place, and 1 of them needs to be flipped. This is what you should do (flipped edge at Front-Right position):

    (R U' R') (F' U2 F)

  • Ciao. Why you go so fast when you execute the algo ?

I tried several time to see what you do at the 8 minute, to put the corner froma up to down, but i had to give up.

    Impossibile to understand :-(

Where can i fing the algo to resolve the last corner ?

    ciao

    Giuseppe - Italy

  • This is not a tutorial that shows you algs. It is a tutorial about a method to solve. You can use the same method but use completely different algs. That is why I didn't pay attention to the speed at which I execute algorithms.

You can find most algs on many sites. I use the ones on deepcubeDOTnet.

  • Thanks Arnaud for your answer.

Know, after I have seen your video I use the keyhole method. It is very useful, but I'd like to know how to move the corner from up do down. I found an algo in the site deepcube, but is to complicate.

The one that you used in your videi seem very easy.

    ciao Giuseppe from Italy :-))

  • At 8minutes05 that is U L' U L U L' U2 L, only I perform it like y' U R' U R U R' U2 R

  • Tks Arnaud for your king answer :)

    Giuseppe

  • keyhole is slower tan Fridrich F2L. Think of it as a way to improve on a beginners method without requiring any extra algorithms to learn. Then you can gradually learn extra Fridrich F2L algs to improve keyhole untill you are ready to learn all of it.

  • which is faster keyhole of f2l

  • Beginner (2 algs): 3 corners, 3 edges, last corner, last edge (just as in any other beginners tutorial)

Intermediate (5 algs): 3 corners, 4 correct edges, last corner

    (see deepcubeDOTnetSLASHintermediate.html for details)

Advanced (11 algs): 3 corners, 3 correct edges, 1 correct or 1 misoriented edge, last corner

(find algs amongst those at speedcubingDOTcomSLASHf2l.html)

  • i have figured out how it works, but i am still not understanding how to put the last piece into the slot

  • pwn202, what do you mean?

I do regrip the cube when it's necessary/faster to do so, but I try to avoid that as much as possible.

  • you never regrip the cube

  • Sorry for not responding faster, but comments and/or replys don't always seem to work on YouTube.

This video was made for this topic: z12 . invisionfree . com / rubiks / index . php ? showtopic = 694. You could look there for more details.

  • nevermind, i watched it about 15 times, and i under stand, very very powerful. good work.

  • thanks for the post, however i am having trouble understanding, i know the basic method i started cubing last week. if you can help me, please message me.
