  • Divino!!!

  • STREPITOSO!

try to find nowaday a bass like that.... 10% maybe...

  • SUBLIME !!! DIVINO !!! IMMORTALE !!! Uomini come questo segnano la storia : un COLOSSO della lirica come pochi. Per sempre PLINIO nell'OLIMPO del CANTO.

  • Excellent, just... excellent

  • Clabassi is one of my favorite basses! He is the stellar King on two AIDA recordings (Milanov/Bjoerling and Price/Vickers) and a wonderful Alvise on the Milanov/di Stefano GIOCONDA. His sound is instantly recognizable and he is unafraid to use portamento, wonder of wonders in this Riccardo Muti-ruined world of today. I sometimes think there is a plot to destroy opera.

  • splendid,i never believed i could hear something so good like the Ferrando of Ivo Vinco in a 1962 recording with Bergonzi,Stella,Cossotto and Bastianini, but i was wrong.

  • plinio clabassi, nicola zaccaria, raffaele arie, giuseppe modesti, rossi-lemeni hehehe. they were the best

  • How could you omit the best of the best: Cesare Siepi, Bonaldo Giaotti and Ezio Pinza? :)

  • @Cavaradossi1981 zaccaria, arie, rossi-lemeni were awful. I don't know why Callas always wanted them.

  • He is one of the reasons I prefer the Gencer Bolena to the Callas Bolena. 1000x better than Rossi-Lemeni.

  • Wow. Stunning. His voice is so flexible and agile. One of the best interpretations of this difficult aria I've ever heard. Thanks for posting this.

  • wondeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrfuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuulllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

  • It's a shame more people haven't seen this video. This is, by far, the best performance of "Abbietta zingara" on Youtube, from a criminally underrated post-WWII bass. Jose van Dam (from the Wiener Staatsoper in '78) is also excellent and sings with consummate ease, but he lacks Clabassi's timbral darkness and plushness, as well as his authoritative presence.

  • Well, van Dam has never been a true basso--he's a bass-baritone. I was shocked to see he'd sung Fillipo in Don Carlos, and he was sorely inadequate. But van Dam is so good in other roles--especially Escamillo!

  • @khankonchak van dam lacked the bass singing

  • we have definitely something in common : we love bass singers...but only good !!!

  • only good :)

  • wow wow wow real opera singer

  • I've never heard this aria sung more perfectly

    what a great artist!

  • @ultrogote do you know if the record is live or play back?
