I think its because of the feeling it gives off. The actual death music sounds... grim.... compared to the rest. of course, that's a personal opinion.
Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which has electronic music inspired by great game series such as Donkey Kong Country. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!
NOTE: At the ripped OST on various places, it contains the Failure Music (even a guy what put the K Rool on Stronghold Showdown did heard the music death on K. Rool...
May they not put... placed to be an DEATH OF STRONGHOLD SHOWDOWN... But they decided to make K. Rool on the flying krok, may that's because they forget...
i recently discovered by re playing this game that if you get to have 99+ lives the little number on the corner doesnt change from 99 to 98 if you lose a life... like if you have 102 lives the number shows 99 but changes to 98 once you lose 4 lives... i dont know if i make myself clear... but it was a curious discovery
DK2 is a great game, but it has so many little glitches scattered throughout it, I could go on for hours. But I think Rare intentionally left the death music out.
I think because it was K.Rool that you are fighting, the death music wasn't supposed to be there if you did die or not. To me, it was more of K.Rool saying, "I'm still alive!"
I think they decided to not trigger the Death Music so that the "Ouch" sound effect plays. Normally it doesn't. And sometimes you would be able to hear it but just for less than half a second.
In DKC3 it plays but because they game is programmed so that if you die or beat the level every sound effect would not be played except for "ouch", "cry", "baloon pop", "coin collected", "coin appearing" and the "level flag raising".
I've heard a soundtrack video that included the death tone when you die in the battle against K. Rool. My guess is that there was death music, but they decided not to put it in, as it would somehow interfere with the K. Rool battle song.
ahm, does anyone among u selling ur nintendo snes and a tape of donkey kong1 2 or 3, i want to buy it sure buyer hir just txt me 09064779554 or 09228821883 manila, phils hir...pls i want to have it...sure buyer hir
Yeah, I noticed this a year ago. I have the DKC2 soundtrack on tape and from 2002-2006, this single music track near the end of the tape always bothered me. I then found out it was an unused tune that was suppose to play if you died in the K.Rool battles.
Strange that it's not used even though it's still in the game.

My opinion is you have to get hit by the butt of the rifle for the music to REALLY turn on x| Otherwise its not much of a death xp

@vampcorpse Yeah, I noticed that too. A lot of Rare games do that, like the Donkey Kong Land games and Banjo-Kazooie.

well to me no music kinda makes u think " well im dead life will go on and poor donkey and diddy"
keenmachine80 1 year ago
I think it gives a feeling of "OK, you died, try again..." rather than "HAHA! You lost!"
BollyBibby 1 year ago
Haha. I love when you die you hear the little, ow or ooh, then the little life balloon pops.

There is a video on youtube which plays the music that should have played, not sure the reason they left it out tho, would have been cool

I'm SO going to try putting that death music like if it had happened for real, just to see what it would really sound like.
Saestrol 2 years ago
I wonder if I could put death music in via a hex editor... ten bucks that it's just two bytes that need to be changed.
Flotonic 2 years ago
Probably. DKL2 and DKL3 were programmed like that, so I wouldn't be surprised if the DKC games were like that too.
Blaziken257 2 years ago
Same here.

lol that's so messed up with the music not changing probaly cuz nintendo made a mistake or sumthin

KCjones707 3 years ago 3
Its a design choice. It was probably left out as to not ruin the dramatic effect of the final boss fight.
SpaceYoshiX 3 years ago 5
most likely right
KCjones707 3 years ago
Except have you heard the removed death tune? It's pretty dramamtic, and has a slightly different tune to all the others aswell.

Yes. It's still interesting though to why there still is death music on the soundtrack.
PS: That death music is the best! I wonder if they didn't put it because it would make people WANT to lose!
