  • Long live the greatest meanest ship ever built even by today's standards

  • Haunting yet beautiful. Whoever put this together did an AWESOME job. No cheesy music like that "down with the sun" song. I hate that damn song. The soundtrack goes perfectly with the powerful images. Good job!!

  • RIP SAILORS...

  • people have got to make sure neo-nazi trash don't find the wreck & take stuff off the wreck

  • Deadly, and beautiful at the same time. Just one example of superior German engineering. I'd say it's a good thing they're our allies today.

  • seeing shit like this makes me wanna be an underwater archeologist.

  • Bismarck is in just over four thousand meters of water. That translates to over thirteen thousand feet of water. In short, no - - she is not in shallow water!

  • She is in remarkably good condition.

    Is she in shallow water?

  • The Bismarck sunk the hood in 9 minutes , it took a broken rudder, 25 torpedo bombers, 4 battleships and 4 cruisers to sink the Bismarck

  • For all the punishment that ship took she looks like she could hit a dry dock and be battle ready before the year was up.

The bismark is in remarkable condition.

Gods speed to all the brave soldiers and sailors who perished in WW2.

  • yea she sure was in a class of her own and wrecked havoc on the seas.If germany had 12 more bismarcks at the time that would have secured the oceans for germany.

  • je v perfektnom stave nova farba a ide dalej ..pekne video kto hra hudbu?

  • It seems to be in excellent condition for its time under water... amazing

  • @Sledgie555 she's only been there for 60 years.

  • @ZachDangle actually more like 70+

  • That is great footage. There is something so haunting about wreck diving it almost has an etherial quality about it. Its beautiful but sad at the same time.

  • The quality of the video is excellent. Thanks for sharing this historical footage of the wreckage.

  • Beautiful ...amazing

  • WAR WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR FUCK ALL

  • Does anybody know what the music in this vid is called?

  • @memphis1829 "Is Lisa gerrard " - Dead can dance"

  • @DiMoNico1981Swe

    Great, thank you!

  • R.I.P.

  • It was a 50:50 between the Hood and Bismark but at the end of the day the coin landed on tails and the Hood was lost.

I sympathise with the loss of life on this vessel, but they certainly angered the hornets nest by sinking the Hood.

  • @camofrog44

In all fairness, the Brits attacked first.

  • my Father who is 92 now was on HMS Diomede during the hunt for the Bismark he told me the Diomede was sent to find and sink The Prinz Eugen but thankfully never found her as i expect if she had i would not have been posting this comment as Diomede was an old 6" cruiser and would have stood no chance but they looked all the same PS what clear images of what was once a great ship but Bismark had to be sunk

  • the young men were mostly 18.19.and 20...little did they know being on the most powerfull ship was like painting a target to be picked on by the english...Rip all those that served on her and the hood

  • The quality and clear picture is remarkable. The diving team have done a great job. 5/5

  • Man, that is some of the clearest footage I have seen. Good job!

  • 70 years since she was sent into the abyss. A true loss of a beautiful vessel and her brave crew. May they rest in eternal peace.

  • RIP sailors.

  • wonderfully clear film. Shipwrecks always seem such seem such sad places. when it comes to wartime shipwrecks, it doesn't matter which side the ship belonged to ; on either side in any war, sons and husbands died and on all sides mothers and wives cried..... love the music by the way.

  • Very interesting video. I was struck by the image of the Swastika still visible on the Bismark. I can not think of a better or more appropriate place for it to be then 4 or 5 miles below the oceans surface.

  • Gott mit uns!

  • 2:43 German paint is the best of all.

  • Really love the music!

  • All those lives never lived; the boot @ 2:36 is haunting...

RIP all German & English sailors who died in WW2...

  • What's the music ??

  • why they did not make 1 for the yamato too? i dont think its more deeper than bismarck......

  • Im so sick of this Nazi hate shit...Im the most partotic guy youll ever meet, im enlisting in the Marines about 1 year im fighting for something i believe and i believe is right... Thats what a soldier is and does. Doesnt matter what skin color creed or religion. Thats why they fought thats why we fought....it isnt the man thats bad, its the idea that is bad and different ideas will conflict with eachother...So dont sit her and bad mouth men who game their life for something they believed in

  • I glad all of those damn nazi's were killed, but I wish we could have saved the ship

  • @djwallbanger You are right. The Sister Ship was Tirpitz. But the strengh and the weight of these Ships were a big secret. The full weight was 50,900 t by Bismarck, Tipitz 52,000 t. So the ships were the biggest warships in the world before the Yamato and the strongest ships at the Atlantic battle. Real battleships. And extremly stable.

  • If there is an argument here, surely it is the assertion that aerial superiority wins out - but that is just the narrow view of a naval historian.

  • A moving piece of film, wonderfully suited to the music, a fitting tribute to ALL who perished at sea, land and air. Men who in a different time might have been friends rather than enemies.

  • Remeber the fallen - in war there is no victory. Just death and pain!

What a giant of steel and power...

  • What a hauntingly, beautiful piece of film. I am saddened by the loss of life of 2,000 plus ratings of the Kriegsmarine. They must have known that their foray was close to a suicide mission against the Royal Navy of the 1940's; but they still did their duty,

  • That B++++ sunk my HOOD may she burn in hell.

  • There she is...the beast...the terror of the seas...may you rest in quite slumber you warrior of steel.

  • she would kick any of todays modern ships ass any day if she was still floating

  • @bloodfan3 She'd beat anything in a gun fight except the US Iowa-class BBs, which are still in good enough shape to be reactivated. The Iowa's radar assisted fire control and 16" guns were/are very formidable.

  • @AmericanThunder Well she couldn't beat a couple of SwordFish Torpedo planes from WW1 :], So i can't really see her ''beat anything in a gun fight''.

  • @DarkShowdownn Apparently, you don't know the meaning of a gun fight. A gun fight means guns are used in a fight, strangely enough. Last time I checked, a "swordfish torpedo plane" wasn't a gun. As for the gist of your irrelevant comment, the purpose of a battleship launched after WWI isn't to face off against planes, it's to provide a hard armored target to protect soft targets, such as aircraft carriers, and to provide nearly unlimited surface fire support for troop beach landings.

  • @AmericanThunder If you did not clearly read my comment i did not state that the Sword fish was ''A gun''. If my comment is too irrelevant for you then please do not reply to it. The Bismarck was not launched until 1939 in which it did have plenty of anti-air guns such as the 37mm Flak 43 and the 20mm Flak 38. For your information Bismark was definitely made for ship on ship battle as of Britain being an island Germany knew that they would have to go against one of the largest navy's in Europe.

  • @DarkShowdownn Swordfish were NOT WW1 aircraft. Get your 'facts' straight.

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Pardon me sorry, but the basic deign was not different than a WW1 plane. Only difference was it was able to carry a heavy torpedo and rockets. Even so, the rockets were not introduced until 1943.

  • @DarkShowdownn You cannot compare the Swordfish to a WW1 aircraft. The Swordfish was far more powerful in terms of engine power compared to a WW1 fighter, which generally had no more than 150-180 bhp. The SF had over 800 bhp. It might have been a bi-plane, but it was certainly no WW1 aircraft. It was actually perfect for it's intended purpose, extremely robust, tough, with good endurance/range.

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Yes it was a faster plane but you have to take in account that it needs to go at a certain speed and a good height for the torpedo to launch without mistake. So at the speed and height of the plane a WW1 plane could do just the same.

  • @DarkShowdownn Ridiculous comment. Few, if any WW1 bi-plane fighter sized aircraft could carry the weight of an 18 inch torpedo. Like the Bismarck, we are going around in circles here!!!

  • @DarkShowdownn "So at the speed and height of the plane a WW1 plane could do just the same." One of the most moronic things I've ever seen posted.

That Ferrari reversed into the parking space just like the Fiat in the next spot. Same speed and angle of turn, so lets call them the same. Retarded logic.

  • @clearlogicify Apart from the fact that planes can't reverse, just because something can do the same doesn't mean they are the same -.-

  • Was the point I intended to make. Thanks for understanding the difference.

  • @clearlogicify Well done, Find that out all by yourself ?

  • @clearlogicify Ah, just realized your from the US, Not a surprise...

  • @DarkShowdownn Hey, with logic as weak as yours, I'd try to insult random account info too.

  • @clearlogicify Go troll somewhere else, You-tube needs less Keyboard Warriors.

  • @DarkShowdownn and @clearlogicify Both of you are talking about something totally unrelated to the video and being disrespectful to the memories of the dead sailors. So please, stop the flame war and be respectful.

  • "The bismarck was the fastest ship that ever sailed the sea...had guns as big as steers, and shells as big as trees".

  • german engineering wonder

  • Sig Heil

  • look at her, after 60 years on the bottom of the sea she's still beautifull rip brave men

  • @thebiest100 yes she is:)

  • Turrets were only held in place by gravity and their weight. When she rolled over during the sinking they went to the bottom like a rock. I believe they found the turrets but the big guns are buried

  • i am scared bahh chikita

but i know about, big shif..

  • what happened to the huge turrets did they fall out?

  • @zstudmuff1n yes, the turrets (actually hooded barbettes) is held down mostly by gravity, so they would have fallen out when she was inverted. Its the same with all dreadnought battleships (ie: battleships built after and inspired by HMS Dreadnought (1906) )

  • 2:43 , you can still see the nazi sign... :O

  • traurig :(

  • really bad ass wreck you can see people where there

  • RIP

  • @Ialocin1985

You do realize it was a Nazi ship right?

  • @GarrettP130 I thought ships cannot join political parties :-) - the Kriegsmarine was the least 'politicised arm' of the German forces. I think most comments here are about the beauty, the design, engineering aspects and technology of these ships and the poor souls on both sides rather than about politics - in that case we have not learned from WWII - we are still invading other countries for economic reasons, lying to the public - sad affair...nice video!

  • @GarrettP130

my grandfather served in Russia with the 5.SS panzer Div.

he was also a member in the Norwegian NS party, but he was no "NAZI"(criminal murderer or w/e u put in this word).

Like my grandfather, some of these men fought for the side they belived was the correct side to fight for. they were willing to give their life.

    Show some fucking respect!

Some were even forced to join the military and serve their country. USA drafted innocent 18 year olds too.

  • @Ialocin1985

Well forgive me for not knowing your families history. You could explain it like an adult, instead you get butt hurt and say I have no respect. Considering the only circulated photos from this ship are of Hitler and SS officers sharing laughs on the deck, its safe to assume this was the pride of the Third Riechs Navy. Plus the giant swatstika on the bow warranted me asking a simple question, and you blew up on me like I just pissed on your grandpas grave. Be a little more mature.

  • @GarrettP130

Erinner dich an die gefallenen kameraden!

  • @Ialocin1985 my grandfather fought also in Norwegian and Russia for example at the Battle of Murmansk. He was at the Norwegian front for about 3 years.

They should get the most respect ever.

  • thanks for the post. One of the most interesting ships of all time. From her building to her ending, amazing story.

  • beautiful and magnificent ship!

  • I have the James Cameron video from this wreck, He proved that the ship was sunk by her own crew . Yes she would have eventually sunk, But it would have took hours. The British claim she was sunk after being torpedoed by a British Cruiser. But the ship sank less than 4 minutes after being torpedoed, That proves she was already taking on water BEFORE she sank.

  • 140.00 Views and only 351 votes???! People that is proud and honorable history vote for it

  • Oh, I wouldn't trust them. They'd probably give it the 'Titanic' treatment, bring in someone like Leonardo DeCaprico & give it a romantic fictitious storyline!

  • Bismarcks hull is in no condition to be raised if such an effort was to be ever thought out, tested and tried. Bismarcks hull is broken between Anton and Bruno turret and alot of her keel hull has been (popped out by great air pressure and her sides below the armour belt are missing. this 45,000ton ship hit the ocean bottom floor at 55mph! the wreck is just that, a wreck and a wargrave. so forget about raising it.

  • @glynamus did they ever raised a part from it ? or thinks from the dibree ?

  • @666crazytrain1 no. no part of the wreck can be removed. i dont think no one is allowed to even dive down to the wreck anymore in fear that someone would try to remove stuff from the wreck or the debri fields. its a war grave.

  • @glynamus oh ok thanks for all the information :)

  • Remarkable state of preservation, remarkably clear footage. Then again, the Titanic is in much deeper water.

  • Wonderful video! Anyone know the name of this song by chance?

  • bismarck is still in a great shape... but the titanic... is total different ..

  • @666crazytrain1 Bismark went down in May 27th, 1941. The RMS Titanic went down April 15, 1912. Plus Titanic was made of Iron, where Bismark was Steel. But, you are right in the fact that she does still look as though she could be sailing across the North Sea, where as Titanic is almost a complete pile of rust. Sad really, I would love so to go down and see her before shes gone forever.

  • @ImThePutz i think they can raise the bismarck because it is in a great condition ... but if they plan for raising the titanic is hella imposibile to move it :/

  • @666crazytrain1 Sounds like a good title for a film sequel, from "Sink the Bismarck" to "Raise the Bismarck"!

  • @Poopingbotham imagine if they make a new movie like the sink the bismarck movie .. you know the story of the bismarck it would be awesome ! because the movie "sink the bismarck " it is old and how they make them todayy ... it will be like you r in the scene ! you know what i mean ! :)

  • @Poopingbotham Hollywood already made "Raise the Titanic" based on a Clive Cussler novel.

  • @666crazytrain1 The Bismarck is a war grave so best we just leave her where she is. From what study I have done of her for a 1/200 scale scratch build model you could not lift her from her grave any way as the hull is as glynamus said broken between Anton and Bruno and add to the overall tonnage in the condition the rest of the hull is in she would fall apart under her own weight. I think we are just lucky to have the photos of her as she is now and the video.

  • Unglaublich.. Auch der Text am Schluss des Videos. Danke

Ruhet in FRIEDEN,...

  • This is a very well made video. Awesome filming, editing, and soundtrack.

  • "Those who do not understand true pain can never understand true peace."

    Nagato.

  • What kind of paint the germans used... is still there perfectly!!!

  • @tonidmc That's because it's water paint.

  • I always feel so sad to see these ships remembering that once people stood on those decks. I admire the technology, am appalled by the reason and suffering, and mesmerized by the glimpse into the past.

  • Comment removed

  • who gives a fuk shut the fuk up wankers and remember those who gave there lifes. The war was years ago we have moved on. RIP

  • @andymorl i dont think u get it do you.....u know rememberence day? think its just for ww1 and 2 try people who got shot and killed while u ate ur brekfast......fucked your girlfriend we dont move on.

  • @ntroller i think of everyone who has been killed during war and don't think it is fair, and yes you are right we don't move on i'm sad to agree. I was just on about people arguing about what was better

  • So schön anzusehen!

  • das wohl mächtigste schlachtschiff aller zeiten!

  • that would be cool if u could re-afloat that beast and reconstruct it and turn it into a museum like what the uss missouri is down in hawaii

  • man, in 10mins this 45,000.ton wreck hit the sea floor at or around 55mph! BOOM! her bottom keel and hull busted open and bent her like a banana. but I must say, you can still make her out just fine.

  • I saw a poster in a game call of duty black opps and it had this ship on it called der bismarck so i thought i would look it up....

  • Breathtaking footage. May all that perished with her rest in eternal peace. Quick question though; does anyone know what the soundtrack or the different musical pieces played in this video are called? Would appreciate it very much if someone could provide me with an answer.

  • @Schwanabwana

    Hi,

The music is Steve Jablonsky's soundtrack for the film "The Island".

  • She's in amazing condition. In a way its kind of creepy

  • So beautiful. It is sad that such a jewel on the bottom of the sea is. : * (

  • Once it will be possible to dive at this depths with scuba gear :)

  • It's amazing how after so many years the teak deck of the bismark is still intact. It's even more amazing that the top layer of paint on the deck has deterirated and the original swastika on the deck can be seen. She's in amazing shape for being shelled over 200 times and being sunk in the ocean for 50 years!

  • This would be an amazing experience on a 3D T.V or in Imax 3D.

  • did you all see the boot at 2:35 ? unbelievable it looks like its new!

  • RIP Ernst Lindemann & Co.!

  • Bismark would have making to france air space if the biritish didint shot her engine T_T

  • She was build to be unsinkable even she had her control tower blow out or been shot out many times RIP BISMARK!#

  • i wonder if they could still raise it Not in the sence of difileling their graves but to have it restored to it original state

  • @Mr12roundstofred i would love to see her raised from the deep and walk on her decks in the state she is in when they have lifted her, and restoring it would be a great idea but then make it a show model dont use it again so the ship doesnt eventually have to suffer the same fate again.

  • that was a tribute to German Engineering and industry that ship, Shame it went out the way it did, but It took the majority of the greatest navy in the world at the time to sink it, and they had to shoot at it for was it 6 hours's after the rudder jammed and how many torpedo's hit it?? .... way ahead of it's time

  • @jjbernz87 Another lie by bismarck fanatics the RN sank the bismarck in less then 2 hours the obsolete bismarck failed to score 1 hit in her last battle the most overrated warship in naval history along with useless tirpitz

  • @jers59 so what about the hood then...least the bismarck didnt have wooden decks. and i didnt say anything about its military credentials i just said it was a awesome piece of engineering and was ahead of all competition in its class...but it was a battleship and there's days were numbered as soon as Aeroplanes cud be deployed off carriers

  • @jjbernz87 The Hood did not have wooden deck its teak placed above steel making the deck less slippery Just walk the deck of any BB museum they all have teak decks

  • @jers59

Jers59, get your American ass fucking off from here.

You are just a jealous fool, pay a visit in a loony bin,

great performance to spam Bismarck videos for several years.

  • @jjbernz87 Another lie bismarck was sunk by Royal Navy in less then 2 hours 1 british shell knocked out 2 turrets and bismarck could not stop 6 obsolete biplanesLOL

  • @jers59 yeh but planes cud stop any ship which is why battleships are now obselete all together, against other battleship how ever it was a better ship, it went one on one with the hood and what happened? and it still took the majority of the royal navy to go after it even if it did have its rudder damaged

  • @jjbernz87 More lies it did not take the majority of RN to sink the commerce raider bisdmarck far from it. USS South Dakota which was a real modern battleship shot down 26 modern japanese naval aircraft not 1 obsolete biplane among them in 1 battle at Santa Cruz 1942, bismarck and tirpitz the 2 most over hyped lied about warships in naval history. The Hood was over aged battle cruiser badly in need of rebuild which it was schedule for it was not battleship

  • @jers59 just stop your uninformed biased spam... it´s getting old.

  • @ayanye99 No I speak the truth the bismarck and tirpitz were 2 most overraterd warships in history built to WW1 obsolete design and with shortest career of any large warship in WW2 bismarck destroyed by RN on its first mission. Tirpitz fires its guns at weather station then tries to hide out the war in norweigean fjord

  • Unfassbar...
