They hit a lot harder before than now, it is because of the heavier racquets. Trust me I was there watching this game 1990 and 1991 the same pairs. You should watch the MS SF Korean vs the Indo. Park Joo Bong did put a hole on the carpet in one of the rally.

@trueshot007 heavier rackets make your smashes slower, not harder. Why do you think they're so comfortable lifting in this match? They're not really that fearful of their opponents' smashes from the rear court. If these heavier rackets really produced harder smashes, players would be using them nowadays.

Yep, and listen to the sound of the hits... those rackets were strung 10 lbs looser than today's - you'd get those tonks from factory strung rackets nowadays :)

when your playing its alot deferent i suppose. Like in hockey also (i am a goalie) i face shots like 80 milesperhour and i see them comming but if i was in the stands i wouldnt be able to see it. Also i think the same and if i was wrong well. fix me on it.
