Thanks for the video. For better sound quality you can bypass the 3.5mm headphone jack. The Camera Connector Kit allows digital audio straight out of the iphone/ipad, bypassing its DAC for a better quality convertor one may already own.
While you could, in a pinch, sum the left and right signals to a single channel as shown @ 2:20, you will get better results if you use a device that actively sums two channels to one like a mixer of course. You could do that on this mixer by using two of the mono input channels using the first cable indicated, and panning both to left or right depending on which output you were using for your mono channel. Some mixers have a mono output in which case panning wouldn't be needed.
@PRIMEproductionsSF That cable is usually sold as a 1/8" (or 3.5mm) to 1/4" FX SEND/RETURN cable. HOSA calls theirs a "Specialty Y Cable, 3.5 mm TRS to Dual 1/4 in TS."
Option 1: plug the unbalanced plugs into a stereo DI box (or 2 mono DI boxes) and connected the other end of the box(es) to the XLR inputs. Those Behringers mixers already have enough static noise without connecting mp3 players on unbalanced connections. ;-)
where the heck do you find the first type of cord? And why not use a cord with left and right TRS 1/4 jacks? Wouldn't that give you better sound quality or is there a problem with that?
@Crosshair0Production Because what you're doing is this... from the ground/left/right signals on the output, the cable splits the ground and makes two conductors, one for each 1/4" plug, and left channel to one of them and right channel to the other. If I saw TRS conductors on both of the 1/4" plugs I would assume it was a stereo splitter where both were carrying both left and right signals, or if being used in a balanced audio rig, both carried the same balanced mono signal.
hey, im like really dumb. i got an iphone and behringer ddm 4000 mixer. i have the tape output and the s/pdf (or whatever its called). i dont really have the money right now for the digital output but i do have a cord for the tape out. do i need a special app to record, i tried and it didnt work. maybe i need to troubleshoot.
Okay I don't know why. But every tine I plug my iPhone to my mixer or powered speakers. I get a almost heart beat sound "popping"real load. I used a 3.5 to RCA. Please HELP!!!!
you dnt know ur cable connetors the 3.5 jack is trs and the two red and yellow are just ts. trs stands for tip ring sleeve and ts stands for tip sleeve. apart from that you seem to know what ur doing.
Can you record from the ipod or ipohne if you play something connected to the mixer??
Couse i want to use ipod for live band recordings.
Is it possible??

The 1/4 cable you're using are not TRS. TRS stands for tip, ring, sleeve, a different cable with three segments.
The ones you're using are just mono male 1/4".

@Crosshair0Production There's no difference in sound quality between RCA and TRS jacks.
