  • I live in Florida and still can't believe that this con man was voted into office. Scott's medical clinics "Solantic" are now being investigated for fraud yet people still voted for him. We live in a society of idiots. The Hispanics here are the real dummies. 50% of them voted for Scott yet he's going to deport their illegal family members. When the deporting starts we don't want to hear shit from the Hispanic community...not a damn thing.

  • the biggest mistake, florida has ever made... next to rigging the election for Bush. It put people like this in office. BUY YOUR WAY THROUGH... buy some hookers while you are at it you....

  • Listen, only an entrepreneur can create long term growth. Its a gift some are born with. Rick Scott is a true leader. He will make this the greatest state in the nation and in turn get this country turned around. Look at the debates; even Alex Sink has alot of admiration for this guy! I will debate this with anyone.

  • Nope not at all what we need farrrrrrrrrr from what florida needs... Believe it or not for once i think we my need a democrat

  • Mr. Burns says "Excellent, those fools will vote for me.... Smithers add another $10 million to this week’s TV campaign ads... Fraud you say, it’s not fraud when you steal hundreds of millions of dollars from those sheep called the taxpayer”.

  • @naplessell

Florida has incredibly low political standards whether Rep or Dem and countless 1 issue voters in both political camps.

  • Only interested in your own corporate profits.

  • Medicare fraudster Rick Scott bears a remarkable resemblance to Voldemort.

  • fuck u rick scoot.. go fucking jump the a cliff u piece off shit... in take does big ass hears and shove im up your asshole and also your "shocked" up there too. i hope u read this shit... u races fuck ...

  • this man, with his record will likely be the next governor of florida JUST because he is a republican that claims support of the teaparty and a vast majority of conservatives in florida.

how does this make you feel youtubers?

  • Rick Scott is a crook who had to pay $1.7 billion in fines for defrauding Medicare. He's the last person any patient should trust in any way.

  • Hey Mr. Scott, how much did your company have to pay in fines for defrauding the government? At least $1 billion, right?

And how much did you receive after being forced out? $10 million sound about right.

Who the hell would take your advice on anything, other than how to be a professional conman?

Don't tell the rest of the country what's best for them, you have zero authority and credibility and should be in federal prison.

  • Rick Scott is the Antichrist. Yeah, don't let the government (ie. the people) control healthcare, because we, the corporations, have a god-given right to exploit your disease for every penny it's worth. I hope Rick Scott burns in hell for a lifetime of putting profit before people.

  • CPR-Rights is a lobbying group for 20 Health insurance companies. We would have to be really stupid to believe anything they say.

    Rick Scott, You Lie!!

  • Rick Scott is a corporate terrorist responsible for killing sick people who needed health care and for stealing billions of taxpayer dollars. Lets waterboard the healthcare terrorist to learn the true extent of his terrorism and identify the other health care terrorists before the murder and steal for the taxpayers again. WATERBOARD RICK SCOTT TODAY 4 A BETTER USA!!!

  • Republicans = republicunts.

  • Yeah lets listen to a little weasel who tried to steal from the elderly by defrauding medicare.

  • Rick you are the biggest fucking crook in health care. Tell us about your fine you fucking pig.

You belong in jail Rick and you know it.

  • Funny thing. No one writing in these comment boxes can walk into an Insurance CEO meeting and demand they cuts their profits, lower costs, get rid of "pre-existing conditions" or guarantee anything. But we CAN vote to keep Congress in office to keep a public option, work to lower costs and not deny anyone based on income or illness. We can work to make government better, but we can't, in good faith, expect the private sector to be fair. Stop being slaves to corporate profit.

  • Conservative Republicans are Embarrassing, Remember these are the same people who told us there's WMD in IRAQ and free Lawless Trade is Good for America and will create jobs.

Don't be fooled BIG HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES sucks and they make the decisions on your Health Care Monetary Funding to treat your illness! I'd rather have a National Health Care Service make this decision on Health Care Monetary Funding than a scumbag from Cigna or Humana!

  • Sure. Can FEDEX compete with USPS, or UPS, DHL compete with USPS? Of course they can.

Are the RULES made or will be made monopolize power in the public system? Have U SEEN THEM....? Do YOU KNOW what these RULES entail...? I thought so. Rhetorical nonsense.

Besides if your assertion is that gov't will do a worse job than the corporations on healthcare- why is the industry so afraid? why would they even be PUT OUT OF BUSINESS?

Ur right it is "CONTROL"- control over money by the CEOs.

  • Plus, if these RULES monopolize power in the public system, and puts UNFAIR rules over pvt. insurers- can the system be brought before a court of law ? Sure it can, presumably by the lawyers of the insurance co. or even a pvt citizen, right. That is why we have 3 SEPARATE BRANCHES of govt. Whats the matter dont you trust our system of democracy?

  • Another FACT-

Gov't now OWNS most of GM. You think GM will put Toyota, Honda, Ford...out of business?

  • But lowering cost for the ppl. would mean less profit for the insurance co. and RIck Scott.

I guess he will have to make 5-10 billion in revenue instead of the 20 billion he raked in in 1997. Man I feel so sorry for his ass.

  • Yea, now the republic-nuts are saying a universal health care system will put the private insures out of business.

    ROFLMAO!!

First they say a gov't beauracrat will decrease the service of healthcare....then they turn around and say the public health system would deliver health service at a lower cost than they could- thereby putting them out of business!

Does anyone else see "double talk" here? Economic theory: Supply and Demand. Lowr ur cost deliver better service and u will get customer.

  • No double talk. When the government competes AND MAKES THE RULES... do you really think insurance companies will be in business very long once Uncle Sam enters the market?

Everybody is missing the point, this is more about "control" than it is helping people who aren't insured.

  • excellenceinamerica -

LOL...more about "control"- who is doing the controlling?

  • Fun fact. Conservatives for Patients Rights is run by Rick Scott. He owns the world's largest health care provider Columbia/HCA. More than $20 billion in revenues in 1997. He's also a partner with Fox entertainment. .... Also, he's for YOU and YOUR RIGHTS.... not ensuring his profits stay high. I LOVE THIS COUNTRY.

  • And this coming from the same guy who defrauded Medicaid out of billions.

  • Damn asshole conservatives with their "fear mongering" - gov. bureaucrat telling you who to see...HAHA....

Yea...lets listen to the GREEDY CEO's like Madoff, Angelo Mozilo (CEO Countrywide) and the "dimwit republic-rats" that they paid off in congress to tell us which Dr. to see- and which procedure they will pay for.

Europe, Canada...all hate their health care system.....? Yea tell us another lie....conservative pricks!

  • Ok. Liberals are intelligent people. There... that's your other lie!

Remember to stay with your shepherd mr sheep. Dink lots of Kool-Aid too.

Looks like you already have that done.

I know of two doctors who are moving from Italy to my home state to get out of that system. I know of one doctor who has moved from Italy and he tells me it sucks!

I know of two people (family of friends) who lives in Canada and hates the system there. Stop watching Sicko and form your own opinions mr sheep.

  • Yea, I know of 2 doctors going from England to US too. But it isnt for providing better care for the PATIENTS. They are coming here working for the insurance companies that are paying them more so they can DENY coverage for people who need healthcare. Funny thing is THEY ADMIT THEY KNOW THAT!- but money talks and YOU (BULLSHIT) walk.

  • It's providing much better coverage. Give everyone free health care and you will see the waits, ect... You also will se an increase in patients which will create MORE waits. You will see a decrease in doctors sue to burnout as well as decreased income. They will simply tell tehir children not to become doctors... which is also happening in countries with socialized medicine. This is stuff your liberal media will not tell you.,,,, see below.

  • LOL...yea..another LIE!

Median wait time in Canada for medical procedure ~ 4 weeks. US over 70 days to see a provider.

Increse in patients...??!!! why..is there an inc. in population all of a sudden...? You actually think the people who r sick dont go to an emergency room?

NEWSFLASH...these people w/o insurance r already WAITING...xcept in a ER, where u are ALREADY picking up the tab.

  • Dr. income...? well...I guess they will have to settle for 300k yr as opposed to several million working for the insurance co. denying needed health care.

Most Dr. I have known went into medicine to care for the sick 1st. If their 1st priority is money...well then they shouldnt be Dr. then. But I guess that is too much to ask for in your DIMINUTIVE MIND.

Not a single Dr. in any industrialzed country..lives in homeless shelter...so u can drop that silly point now.

  • mccoop221- "Give everyone free health care and you will see the waits, ect... You also will se an increase in patients which will create MORE waits."

This has got to be the most IDIOTIC point made. You think going to a see a Dr. is like a trip to a candy store. Do you go see ur Dr. if nothing is wrong with u...?

Again, these ppl. w/o ins. is already WAITING in the health system.

  • mcoop221-

Most of my family live in Canada and they told me it isnt perfect but it seems a, "lot better than what you guys have to deal with."- Yes their words exactly.

They dont have to worry about going to a diff. hospital during an emergency and then having to pay $1,000 bucks - all b/c EMS took u to the nearest hosp. the insurance co. denied your claim, b/c u "WERE OUT OF NETWORK"

Keep up the lies...u corporate lapdog...maybe the CEOs would give u a crumb after.

  • Furthermore, my doc told me flat out if this passes and salaries are assigned, which is very common in those countries, he would only see five patients a day until forced to see more. This will overload the already overloaded hospitals.

Another question. Will your liberal plan extend benefits to illegals or not? Who pays for that? I thought our savior wasn't going to raise taxes on anyone below 250K. This will obviously happen... even to the liberal eye.

  • Comment removed

  • Problem of illegals is NOT a healthcare issue. Nor does the Illegal alien issue validates any of your points or invalidates the merits of a good plan.

That point has to do with implementation of a new health system. Get with the program.

  • It has everything to do with the system and who pays for it!

Believe it or not, I am all for immigration... illegal if necessary... The problem with that lies with who else will cross our border.

  • Comment removed

  • mccoop221- "he would only see five patients a day until forced to see more. This will overload the already overloaded hospitals"

Bwahaha...I like to know how many patients he sees w/o insurance, and CANNOT pay him with $. If he SEES NONE, then...these r the ppl. OVERLOADING the hosp. that u r proclaiming to be the result of a new system.

Maybe if they had ins. ur Dr. friend wouldn't turn them away so they WOULDN'T OVERLOAD the hosp. Hmmm..that sounds like a good idea.

  • I can see your argument is getting weak. But to answer one question, I will attest (whcich doesn't mean anything to you, since you don't know me) that he sees numerous patients (mostly Latino/Mexican) that do not have insurance. Obviously, he sees them for free. He IS a good guy who actually cares... go figure, a doc that cares.

The payment he receives is nothing he asks for. Somtimes at certain restaurants, he receives his meals for free.

Otherwise, your retort makes no sense.

  • mccoop221-

Ur right about liberals being more intelligent.

Now maybe u should go and "waterboard" urself with that douche from "fiction news."- who said he would undergo it just to show it isnt torture- maybe that will inc. ur intelligence.

  • Such a witty retort. The best argument against democracy is a two minute conversation with a liberal. lol

    You libtards crack me up!

  • hmmmso you think it will be better to pay for everyones healthcare- cause you and i will be taxed for this it is not free... everyone has healthcare now---you just have to pay for it

  • we do, a person with health care pays for 9 others with out health care.

I got blue cross blue shield worst health ins ever. I needed to go to physical therapy for my back and parkenson. I cannot afford it because I have to pay $50 each time 3 times a week

it is bad when you got health ins and cannot use it because of out of pocket exp

  • CONservatives are just lossing this arguement on health care just wish dems would get a back bone, get some balls and pass it

  • You want one inadequate health care system for the people, while another top notch health care system for congressman and their families. Typical hypocritical Washington politics.

  • I do not want blue cross blue shield telling me who to go and see, what they will and will not pay

all the polticians who votes agaisnt this we ought to take away there free health care they get it from the gov and love theirs

  • This video is an embarrasment. Viva the NHS. Viva Tommy Douglas.

  • nothing wrong with business do not want them telling me that i have to buy my health insurance from them let me choose public option if i want to

if you want to pay 3 oto 4 times as much go ahead

  • Anyone who listens to this guy needs to watch the youtube video "Who is Rick Scott?"

  • health insurance spokes person probably

  • he is on CNN today

  • CONS i do not want big busienss in my health care I do not want them telling me that I have to go to one of there doctors in there health care plan I want my own health insurance so that I can go to the doctor I want and the doctor would listen to me instead of the health insurance agency

  • Under a single-payer health care system you can go to any doctor, at any hospital, and at any time you want. Just like the rest of the Industrialized world.

  • I know that is what I want and to get big business out of my health care

  • Australia also has government run health care

    1. Life expectancy is longer there

    2. Taxes are only slightly higher there (i.e. 24% for 65k/yr)

    3. People are more likely to be denied by their health insurers in the US for life threatening conditions than Australians are to wait for care on a life threatening condition.

Smoke and mirrors. Who are these 'conservatives' really fighting for?

  • They are messin wid my heawf care, yo. Dem, dos guys in Washingden. Stop messin wif it. OWW I BROKE MY ARM MY LIFE IS OVER!

  • In the UK, more than half of people are treated immediately (no wait at all)! For planned (non urgent) referrals the 18 week max. wait time (not 6 months) INCLUDES time for scheduling the first appointment , doing all the preliminary tests getting the results, deciding next step and the op. if needs be. And if the NHS fails in this, you have the choice to go private at NHS expense. Nearly everyone is seen within 18 weeks these days. Half of those planned jobs are over within 8 weeks.

  • Are we getting what we're paying for? We pay more for Medicare and Medicaid per-capita than individuals in other countries pay for an entire national health care system.

  • That's because most health expenditure happens in the last years of life when most people are over 65. The U.S. private insurance money making machine rakes in the dollars when you are young and its the government that ends up paying out when you are old. A smart move by the insurance lobby to get the government to take on their worst risks. Single payer would kill this profit taking.

  • Barack just sent me an email asking to share my horror stories about why Health Care is so out of line with reality. I sent him my story, you can too!

It's so refreshing that a President will actually read these! Send yours here:

  • Having Scott as a "spokesman" for health care is like having Bernie Madoff handle your investment needs.

  • Rick Scott is a criminal.

  • Rick Scott, the douchebag behind these ads, is a charlatan and a fraud. Some of the British people interviewed in CPR's ads weren't even informed they'd be appearing in them and were completely taken out of context. Shame on you.

  • Can you prove it?

  • yes, the passion to get rid of all unnecessary middlemen in healthcare is extraordinarily strong. "the people" have finally risen up and are now in control of their future healthcare... so it's time to rid all costs that are NOT related to "health" out of the system.

it remains to be seen how this legislation will take final form, but rest assured you will not have a job in health "insurance" once we are done. yes, more OPTIONS are coming.

Rick Scott is a CANCER on America.

  • Hey lets listen to Rick Scott whose company Columbia he ran got busted in 1997 for medicare and medicaid fraud. Then the company had to pay a 1.7 billion dollar fine and then when he left the company had a 10 million dollar parachute. Lets listen to this crook.

  • Can you prove Rick Scott was materially involved in the fraud? Becuase you know Tim Giether works for Obama but committed massive tax evasion. Does that mean we shouldn't listen to Obama, because he's a crook?

  • Two words that would make health care much more affordable in the USA:

    Tort reform!

Trial lawyers, ones like 2004 Democrat VP candidate John Edwards, have driven up the cost of health care in the USA with all of their ambulance-chasing frivolous law suits. Of course, these same trial lawyers are big-time donors to the Democrats.

Both work hand in hand to make the US health care system overly expensive, so that then the Democrats can ram through their power-grab agenda so as to "save" us.

  • Correct, and that is part of Obama's plan is to reform malpractice, so you're on the right track...

  • Actually , tort reform is nowhere to be found in Obama's plan. Lawyers donate way to much money to Democrats for them to try to pass that. You know, like how the Democrats screwed over poor black kids in DC in order to appease the teachers union.

  • don't make everyone laugh... Obama said it just the other day... "tort reform is a important component to driving down health care costs". so you might want to do research before you post incorrect information. thanks.

  • Yeah, the last 100 days or so have really taught all of us that what he says and what he does are always exactly the same thing. Have you seen or heard anyone in congress working on the bill seriously discussing tort reform?

  • Yes, it's really remarkable how well Obama sticks to his word, but smart enough to update direction if better information becomes available. We are a lucky country to have such a great and honest man.

Yes, we won't see much in congress about malpractice reform for a little while, it's best to keep that under-wraps so the people get the best deal and the money grubbing lawyers won't have time to react.

It's so refreshing that we now have a leader looking out for US and not big business!

  • Everything Obama says comes with a hidden expiration date.

"Obama lied - the economy died"

  • can you get an example? he's been highly honest so far.

the economy is looking up, our world reputation is coming back, the bank problem is being cleared up.

    he's basically a miracle worker...

  • Here's an example - Obama went to the Caterpillar plant last February, where he made an urgent plea to pass the porkulus bill, which would then get Caterpillar to start rehiring its workers who were laid off. Afterward, the CEO of Caterpillar said that there was no such plan to rehire these laid off workers. Since then, Caterpillar has actually laid off even more workers.

Obama now is in the process of destroying the auto industry. Unemployment is still up.

    Economy looking up? Yeah right!

  • He passed the excellent stimulus bill, so he held firm to his word. Yes, Caterpillar will be hurting for awhile longer, but not sure how that is connected to Obama? Recoveries take a couple years but Obama has done his part to make sure Caterpillar will be healthy again.

Obama now has the auto industry back on the road to recovery, GM should declare bankruptcy soon, which will get rid of a lot of those overpaid workers, then they too will become strong.

The economy is certainly getting better!

  • $11 trillion dollars in budget deficits for generations to come is your idea of "excellent," right?

Obama flat out said that Caterpillar would start rehiring if the porkulus bill got passed, and right afterward, the Caterpillar CEO flat out said that wouldn't be happening.

That seems like what is known as a "lie" to me.

The economy is getting better? Try telling that to the Mayor of Las Vegas - Obama won't even meet with him. To you, everything turning to shit is somehow not Obama's fault.

  • No, the Bush legacy deficit next year will be $1.4 Trillion, so Obama is cutting it as much as he can.

Obama said Caterpillar would be rehiring, but he never gave a timeline... learn the difference... these things take time and Obama was honest about it.

Have you ever been to Las Vegas? I have, and they need some belt tightening... so it's no loss.

You just hate America and everything it stands for, how sad.

  • FUCK YOU! You are the one who truly hates America and the CAPITALIST FREE MARKET ECONOMY, which has made it great.

I am a decorated military combat veteran. What the fuck have you done for America besides cheering on its demise into a Marxist hellhole here on YouTube?

Obama is not cutting jack shit. He makes a big deal over trimming a few million on expenditures for office supplies, while spending trillions on pork projects and taking over various parts of the private sector.

  • Why so angry? You are the one against freedom and letting PEOPLE decide... NOT the Government.

Obama is a HUGE believer in capitalism... he believes in the FREE market by the PEOPLE for the PEOPLE...

Bush & Cheney hated freedom, hated free markets and only wanted America to fail.

Obama is cutting the most out of Government in our lifetimes! $2 Trillion in cuts just the other day!

You are anti AMERICAN.... SHAME on you!

  • Look here, you douche - it is NOW, not during the Bush years, that the economy truly sucks, all thanks to Obama and neo-Marxists running this country from their central planning committee.

The Fed Reserve just released a gloomy projection for the rest of 2009, despite the optimistic remarks made by the Obama administration. It said unemployment could reach 9.6% during the 4th quarter, compared to initial projections of a maximum of 8.8%. Unemployment is 8.9% percent, the highest since 1983.

  • Yes, but only people with 3rd Grade educations would surmise that the world's largest economy can be repaired in 4 months... after the extreme damage Bush caused over a full 8 years.

Obama has done wonders, we are clearly back on track, but yes... it will take time to fix the Bush era.

I would like a quick fix too! But intelligent people know it's better to repair a foundation, than to whine and complain the roof leaks.

We all know you aren't educated... but please be patient...

  • Obama's optimistic quotes are for the people not paying attention and his dopey fans like you.

So much stuff is happening that is going to contract the economy for the long term, and the really terrifying thing is that these things are a vicious cycle which will compound one another, like a snowball rolling down a mountain.

There's a lot of buzz about countries dumping the dollar as the reserve currency again, and just yesterday, Bloomberg reported that the dollar is at an all time low.

  • but the Dollar is has rebounded ever since Obama took office, today, it's UP again... so it looks like you have bad data.

Bloomberg reported no such information, if so, please post it... waiting!

    See... told you!

  • Here you go, asshat - Google this:

"Dollar Slides to 4-Month Low Versus Euro on U.S. Credit Concern "

"By Theresa Barraclough and Ron Harui"

"May 22 (Bloomberg) -- The dollar fell to a four-month low against the euro and weakened versus the yen on speculation the U.S. governments creditworthiness is deteriorating, sapping demand for the U.S. currency..."

When it comes to debating with Obama-ass-kissers like you, it's like I'm in a real-life version of "The Emperor's New Clothes."

  • that's just against the euro, check against the pound, yen, etc and you'll see it doing quite well.

you just hate america and everything it stands for.

  • Hey fuckhead - did you miss the part I quoted above which said the dollar "weakened versus the yen" when you told me to "check against the pound, yen, etc?"

    Also, Google this, Mr. Obama-ass-kisser:

"U.S. unemployment likely to peak above 10 percent: CBO"

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. economy will likely start growing again in the second half of this year but unemployment will likely keep rising through 2010 to peak over 10 percent, the Congressional Budget Office said on Thursday..."

  • weakened, is far different than fallen.... since Obama brought our country back from the brink, the yen has done well... told you!

    x-rates. com /d/JPY/USD/graph120.html

yes, unemployment will continue to rise, that always happens after a republican has been in office for awhile.

  • I keep come up with documented sources to show that Obama is fucking up America's economy with his neo-Marxist agenda, and all you can do is counter me with weak platitudes and ad hominem attacks. Plus, you have the nerve to try telling me, a decorated military veteran, that I "just hate america and everything it stands for."

You're likely thinking that you are being cute or funny or whatever, but you'll be getting angry soon enough when Obama gets called out far and wide for what he really is.

  • the fact remains, Obama is putting our country back in a leadership position. He's fixing healthcare, putting us back in business with science, getting the sick auto industry back in gear, strengthening our banks after poor federal management. getting us out of Iraq, on and on...

you just aren't educated enough to understand his incredible leadership. I realize Bush was your hero, but it's time for intelligent people to run the USA, not cocaine dazed, bible bangers.

  • hahaha, oh man, you guys are always good for a laugh. "Incredible leadership?" HA. I love how you think Bush was my hero even though I said no such thing. I'll make 3 predictions: By the end of Obama's first term, GM and Chrysler will be in worse shape than they are now, the financial sector will continues to be weak due to excessive federal meddling, the "green" economy will still be a myth, and we'll still be in Iraq. Also, way to be tolerant with the bible banger stuff. Classy.

  • one word that would make health care affordable "compete" let them compete with gov. thought CONS say gov cannot run anything so why are Companies so afriad of leting people have a public option

  • Republicans who are against some form of national or public/goverment form of Healthcare and Dolts like Scott are ruining our country. We pay more for health care then othe countries yet we have a lower life span. People can work for years at a Company giving their heart and soul to the company, yet the company does not have health insurance for them and if they do have a problem they will get fired.

  • The republicans are bringing back the 1990s scare machine. We pay twice as much for healthcare compared to any other industrialized nation because these swine need to make exorbitant profits. Fuck 'em! These insurance companies we have need to pay for healthcare or be put out of business. We need every american covered!

  • This commercial is garbage! If the private healthcare system actually took care of people, we wouldn't be having this debate!

  • We need universal healthcare now!!! It is time to take the profit and greed out of healthcare and cover all Americans!!!

  • Oh I agree...let's continue to let the private health insurance companies screw us over! Great idea!

  • Conservatives talking about solving the healthcare problem is a bit of an oxymoron since they believe private companies will better provide healthcare even though it doesn't spread to everyone. Also, private healthcare companies have profit motives thus, they will try to cut services that are important for patients long term health.

  • HC CORP "F E A R" based campaign begins!!! The problem with American HC is GREED, GREED, GREED!! Not unlike the American FINANCIAL INDUSTRY!! Government OVERSIGHT is NEEDED NOW before it's too late!

  • Comment removed

  • Conservatives for Patients Rights is a front by Richard Scott, the former CEO of Columbia/HCA Healthcare who was forced to resign amid fraud charges. You can bet that patients is his last concern.

  • More conservative propoganda. Americans pay more for healthcare than any developed nation on EARTH! And get the minimum in return. This is just another attempt by insurance companies and their Republican shills to keep Americans paying as much as possible and receiving as little as possible in benefits.

    DON'T BE FOOLED AGAIN!

  • Americans I live in a country witch have have Universal Health Care since 1938 and NEVER EVER became communist

and we live about 5-6 years longer than americans

  • Yes but you see, you're Swedish and that means you're smarter than these idiot fucking Americans who are TERRIFIED of change and believe everything they hear! They're too stupid to realize the rich people at the top lie to them to keep them from socially/economically advancing. I'm Armenian and sadly I have to deal with these assholes on a daily basis because I live in this shitty country.

  • aww poor poor baby....

  • Weird...Congress writes the legislation but then spends money without seeing all the details???This ad is suspect. We pay for lifetime national healthcare for every Congress Member even if they serve just one day. And theyre not interested in exchanging that for an HMO plan that includes sky-rocketing premiums, co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, and then a denial for pre-existing conditions.

The big question is: Why does Congress get national healthcare, but we dont?

  • Rick Scott was lucky to avoid going to prison. And yet, he's stupid enough to put himself back in the public eye. When America learns about Rick Scott's past, he and C4PR will be the laughing stock of the country. Rot in hell, Rick.

  • The rest of the cuntservative goons already are the laughing stock of this country!

  • I work for pharmacy and with the Medicare D program, why would conservatives want health care reform? According to conservatives, It is okay for AMericans to pay alot out of pocket so it's all good.

  • "Universal" healthcare KILLS. People are told by the government which treatments they get.

My grandpa and my grandma both died from socialized medicine. If you don't like America's healthcare system go to Canada or Britain and see how awful it is there!

  • Bottom line is Universal Single Payer Healthcare kills waaaay less then the American healthcare system as of current. How do you explain that? On top of that the general health in UHC countries are overall better then in US. Strange isnt it?

  • Grandmas and Grandpas do not die from socialized medicine (or private medicine for that matter). If you really want to know what peolple in the UK think, read independent international surveys such as Eurobarometer, not people who post videos like this one!

  • Without individuals and business paying for healthcare it will cost far less and we can finally live without worrying about whether or not we'll be taken care of in case tragedy strikes. Don't believe anyone that takes money for nothing, i.e. insurance companies.

  • Are you sure you want Universal Health Care? I mean, are you really CERTAIN? Because in Holland they have it, and its great. But guess what? They pay 50% taxes! Do you still want it now that you would be losing half your pay check? Most of that money would end up in greedy hands anyhow, and not the doctors.

  • The greed of insurance companies has made the health care problem what it is today in America.

  • The for-profit healthcare system kills people because the easiest way for healthcare insurers to make a profit is to deny healthcare claims - which they do.

(see the testimony before congress of former medical reviewer of Humana, Linda Peeno)

  • The profit motive makes the US healthcare system the most expensive and least accessible of all wealthy nations, in spite of the fact that medical technology in the US is among the best.

  • "When the state controls your health care, it controls YOU"

When corporations control your health care, corporations control YOU.

Difference is, the government formally does have the obligation to represent your interests, but corporations have no such obligation.

  • Corporations need to compete for your interests. Governments can legislate what you can and cannot do in a way that corps cannot.

  • Government needs to compete for your vote, and is supposed to protect your interests as an American citizen. Corporations only has obligations to their profit margins, and only need to compete to offer the least crappy of the crappy deals. Ever tried calling an insurance company to ask them to change their policy? Ever tried petitioning to pressure a corp? There is reasons this doesnt work in regard to the private sector, but does in regard to elected officials.

  • Ever changed banks because you didn't like the terms? Currently we have two major political parties pushing virtually the same agenda. With national health care, it would be the equivalent of having one bank. Would you have wanted GWB legislating on women's rights? Would you want fines for obesity like in Japan? Would you want the health care system run like the DMV? Or what about that embarrassment that just happened in Canada, which even the state officials said it was due to underfundg.

  • In my experience, the lines at the DMV are far shorter than at most emergency rooms. Besides, your analogy is completely false. The vast majority of workers don't have a choice about what healthcare plan they get.

  • Rick Scott, formerly uber-entrepreneur of Columbia Hospital Corp WAS FORCED TO RESIGN FOR MASSIVE FRAUD in one of the largest fraud cases in US history, 1.7 BILLION. How do they do it? How do they have the hutzpah to bring this right wing mafioso back? Same way they put Sarah Palin as VP, nominating a 72 YO as president, Michele Bachmann as spokesperson, Michael Steele as chairman, drug addict Rush Limbaugh as self appointed king- maker. I wonder why no one in their party speaks up?
  • "Call Congress today" and ask them why this criminal Rick Scott was merely allowed to resign from Columbia Hospital Corporation. Ask them why he was not prosecuted for stealing millions of dollars from the federal government by defrauding Medicare

  • The first step must be to get the insurance companies out of the medical business. The goal of these companies is to make money, nothing more. Once they are out we can call concentrate on helping patients. Maybe then American infant mortality and other health indicators will begin to match the rest of the industrialized world.

  • feriwarlock, wow, that public education is really paying off for you.

See if you can complete this quote, einstein:

"Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man...."

  • Alright, well then why don't you allow the big, bad government to tax you until you join the legion of the impoverished, asshole? You sound so indifferent to the idea that poverty is a "normal condition"; maybe you'd change your tune if you actually knew what life in poverty was like! We have the money to help those who are too poor to see a doctor so let's change the system and make health-care available for ALL!

  • it is exactly because of the taxes that will be taken from me to pay for everyone else's health care that explains why I'm against it.

who taught you to expect an equal result for all regardless of their abilities or contribution? they are two different things.

read the quote in it's original context, smartypants.

  • Because no one is more human than anyone else. We all have feelings, thoughts and needs! If you WERE a good person you'd want everyone to thrive and be happy, not just yourself.

  • yeah, like i need you to define what it takes to be a good person. i would rather teach someone how to get their own health care than had it to them for free at my cost. you are laughable.

  • jfk jr lover? really? wtf kind of strangeness are you?

  • feriwarlock -

do you get all your opinions from rolling stone, or just your opinions related to healthcare?

The single payer system KILLS PEOPLE. People who otherwise would still be alive today, if not for bureaucratic incompetence and the inevitable rationing. Why do you think so many people from countries with single payer systems come to the US for treatment?

When the state controls your health care, it controls YOU. Excuse me if some of us out there would prefer a different solution.

  • Jackass, I can't even get health-care now! Some health-care is better than none! America is only a good place if you have money, but what about the people like me who are poor? My sister visited France over New Year's and was BROKE but still she was able to see a doctor for like 30 or 40 euros but if you live there it's free! And in France they DO have choices in doctors and treatments so stop preaching lies about what universal health-care entails!

  • ok, let me see if I can make this crystal clear. Medical care is a finite good. There are only so many doctors, hospitals, nurses, etc. That means not everyone can get all the healthcare they want. It sucks, but until doctors work for free, thats the way it is.

  • In a free market care is rationed by individual consumers according to pricing signals. In a single payer system, health care is rationed by bureaucrats. There is no way for the government to give everyone all the health care they want because doctors, nurses, etc. don't work for free.

  • Now government can ration health care in one of two ways.

It can control costs by paying doctors and other health care professional, hospitals, drug companies etc. less than they would get in a free market. This creates a shortage in medical personnel, thereby creating a shortage in health care services. It also slows down or kills of the advancement of medical technology as companies stop making enough profit to fund R&D.

  • Or the government can deny expensive but life saving treatments to the citizenry it purports to protect and defend. Inevitably this leads to people being dead who would otherwise be alive in a free market system.

  • Now I will not deny that health care in this country is expensive, but if you blame the insurance companies but you (and everyone else on this thread) are pointing at the wrong people. Medicare is the number one reason why it costs so much. The government has instituted price controls for nearly every medical procedure, which is of course below the fair market rate. As a result doctors/etc have to pass that cost on to consumers/insurance companies, which makes it more expensive for everyone.

  • Additionally, Medicare (and Medicaid) are HUGE programs, rife with complacency and fraud. Medicare fraud is estimates at 60 billion a year. It's also running an unfunded liability of around 85.6 trillion. That's completely unsustainable. If you include the rest of the population in a medicare-like program those number increase by at least tenfold. That will utterly destroy the economy of the US, and then no one gets any health care at all.

  • The key to making health care less expensive? Deregulate it. Eliminate the burdensome regulations that stifle competition. Phase out Medicare and Medicaid. Eliminate the tax structure that makes it easier for companies to be the only affordable way for workers to get health insurance. The key is to give people the freedom to make their own choices (even the choice not to have health insurance), not to make all of us mere serfs, dependent on our political masters for our very survival.

  • One last note: I suspect you've never read the Constitution. It's really a remarkable document. It lays out specifically the limits of the federal governments power. You should take a look, and let me know where it gives the federal government the authority to provide health insurance or health care to the people.

Also, you should try to not be so angry all the time.

  • not so in marianna fl where I'm a lady had cancer while in the hosptial for it the insurance company cancel her they already paid 3 treatments for her and denied any future treatment

  • What bullshit-in Britain we have the NHS- and produce 10% of all research and recieve 13% of all citations-massive proportional to the size of the country. Companies still recieve enough for R+D as the 3/5 of the worlds biggest drug companys are european all with similar healthcare systems. Why is it that America has the lowest life expectancy and highest infant mortality rate of the developed world if the system is working?

  • Actually, you couldn't be more wrong. The companies receive enough money for R&D because the US market allows them to jack up the price to make up for the money they lose by selling their drugs in countries with socialist health systems.

  • Example: GSK invents a drug that costs a dollar a pill. They need to sell it for $1.50 to make back their investment in R&D. Britain requires them to sell it for $1.25. They make up that lost $.25 by charging patients in the US $1.75, thereby covering their costs. And that, boys and girls, is why drugs in the US are so much more expensive.

  • To the second part of your argument in which you so deftly beat that strawman down, I'm certainly not arguing that the US system isn't broken. It is, and horrendously so. But the problems with it come directly from the governments interference in the health care market via meidcare, medicaid, and the endless reams of regulations by the feds and the states. The solution certainly won't come from more government involvement.

  • Lastly it's not the case that higher infant mortality rates and shorter life expectancies indicate a failure of the US health system. Shorter life expectancies are largely caused by a greater tendency for Americans to die in things like automobile accidents and homicides. A single payers system isn't going to get us to drive less or take murderers off the streets.

  • The higher infant mortality rate is actually a sign of medical progress. Advanced prenatal care allows for babies in the 2nd or 3rd trimester with health complications to be born and given a fighting chance, whereas the same babies would likely be stillborn (or killed via abortion) in European countries. Since these premature babies are still considered born, but have a low rate of survival, that drives down the US infant mortality rate.

  • So African countries are actually the most advanced by your logic? If the babies were stillborn this would be reflected in the infant mortality rate. At my institution government funded research has found a potential cure for human trypanosomiasis which kills 50-100K ppl a year and yet no research is done by pharma companies as it is a disease of poor africans. Vaccines, Antibiotics, Germ Theory and Pasteurisation were all developed by scientists working outwith drug companies, in Europe.

  • Heart disease, cancer, cerebrovascular disease and respiratory disease are the 4 major causes of mortality in the UK and US- populations with similar demographic and bad diets. The number of septicaemia fatalities in the U.S. is also massive: very indicitive of poor care."The US emerges as the country with the highest share of GDP devoted to health. (15.3%)" (BMJ 2006) Compared to Germany 10.9% France 10.5% and the UK 8.3%. That money doesn't appear 2B buying alot-just lining fat cats pockets

  • Yes! A great map showing how America is behind in health care is at this link... Wow! Take a Look!

(cut / paste... remove extra spaces of course)

    infonaut. ca /blog/images/ gapminderlarger.png

it's time to REMOVE all the fat cats, so we can compete again!

  • Why should the drug companies charge ridiculously high prices to the detriment of the ordinary person?-the protectionism of patents makes it very very profitable in any case.Only a tiny proportion of is actually spent on R+D. Twice as much is spent on baldness cures than malaria for instance. Progress is made without big drug companies. And as America remains the only developed country without price controls its your fault for allowing pharma lobbyists to bribe government.

  • Wrong wrong wrong! Average total costs to bring a drug to market in the US is over a billion dollars. Most of this cost is incurred during clinical trails mandated by the FDA. Now if you want to argue the patent system needs to be reformed, i'm not entirely unsympathetic to that argument, but realize without some kind of patent protection drug companies would cease to exist.
