if you are going to do pull ups do them right, swinging around isnt hitting the lats like they are supposed to, yeah you might get tired from swinging or your hand will start hurting from swinging, but having good form works 100 percent better 100 percent of the time, thats what builds strength and muscle.
@kingconstructo muscle isnt a goal of crossfit, the goal is practical strength. if kipping can get you over the bar more efficiently than strict pull ups, then its more practical. strict and kipping both get you from point A to point B. say if you're training for a run, would you run on one leg as training? no, you'd run as training. if your goal is to have sexy lats, by all means do strict pull ups.
working out isnt efficient. doing exercises incorrectly only robs you of their benefits. someone who practices proper pullups could do far more kipping pullups than you guys manage. Xfit is a fucking joke.
@melaniefus kipping pull ups require strength from alot of different muscles including core muscles that don't normally get used in strict pull ups. theres also a neuromuscular factor (ie, your brain has to have a certain amount of awareness over the body to know which muscles to activate at what time to maximize efficiency). all this is trained with kipping pull ups and not strict pull ups. although, i agree that strict pull ups are a good exercise for strength. i do at least 150 per week.
I agree completely. And if they're gonna kip, they should at least touch their chests to the bar. Most of those reps wouldn't count in my gym (especially since we don't even allow kipping). If you're gonna kip and not even clear your head above the bar, then what's the point?
You use two 30lb dumbbells for the burpees, but just one for the pullups. Doesn't matter what kind of dumbbells you use as long as they weight 30lbs. I just did this today (but did 15-12-9)... absolutely destroyed me.
Am I correct in assuming that your total weight for the burpee/thrusters is 30lbs? I misunderstood and used two 30lb dumbbells for a total of 60 lbs. It kicked my ass.

argh. just can't stand watching those kippers. why don't you grow some tits to go with those

@44pullups adding a kip is just another way of doing pullups. kipping pullups happen to be well suited to go with crossfit routines.

It says 3 rounds how long rest between rounds?
McBoxer6791 2 years ago
i would assume as little as possible

@McBoxer6791
As little as you can. Record a total time after 3 rounds with no stopping the clock.
