  • At 25 hours that pretty good. Area doesn't look too confined in the vid but good starting point. Good luck with the rest of your flying

  • The only thing I can visual spot which is concerning is flying so low over the trees, if engine failure happened, It would be hard to autorotates to a safe place. I tried some steep landings and vortex ring state (from a high height). Just remember when going downwind you can fly into your own downwash and if you do steep decents, then keep it nice and slow, only trouble is you tend to be in the avoid curve. I know this video is more of a normal aproach, Land slowly if on slope with level disk.

  • @benjyboba There's some good tips there, thanks for posting!

  • this video makes me think of the movie "snatch" ... "tyrone you could land a jumbo f**king jet there.."

  • Is translational lift hard to compensate for?How much collective needs to be added when slowing through it?

Know you need some left pedal too ; )

  • This depends on many other factors, density altitude, amount of weight being carried etc. Landing an R22 with two passengers requires a high power input during the transition.

  • @motokid032 If its windy then you can actually have translational lift whilst in the hover. When passing through translational lift, you need to push through it to keep a level attitude, when slowing you just lift it smooth as you slow. When your in ground effect, its not too bad. Remember to be smooth and put in left pedal in r22 as you aply collective. Remember the helicopter is using 90% power to hover and best climb rate speed is 53 knotts which is at the bottom of hte curve.

  • @motokid032 Alot man, when ETL goes away, depending on the temp and weight of course, you might need alot of collective, especially if bringing it to a hover at altitude.

  • i dunno whats wrong with the other people who commented, but i like it...not soo confined but i like it(nice landing)

  • Thanks for that!

  • lol

  • hahahaha if this is a confined area i'm a superman!!! lol

i'm a pilot and this fields are the biggest fields that i practice

  • what sized area did YOU use for your first time at 25 hours..?

  • he's got a point....it's not really confined but that was an amazing approach to hover

  • We would have landed but the grass was very long.

  • i bet you never flew a helicopter.

  • Nice Landing, the arm chair pilots will always pick fault. If they sit in the wrong place on their sofa they get a collective up their @@@@ lol

  • Ha, well 11 months has been, Hope ya still loving the flying. Fly safe and enjoy.

  • HA, If that was a confine landing god hope ya not flying hunters into the bush!!!!!

Do ya know of a high recky, low reacky and down wind cheeks??? ha as well of doing all that dont lose sight of ya LZ. Ha i dont think enen the camra can can zoom in that far...

  • lets see some of yours then..?

  • hey we all gotta start somewhere ya know. but seriouly im supprised the instructor(if there was one) didnt go throught the neccessarry alt/power check/wind/obstruction/turbulence/forced landing spots/entry/exit/and LZ checks.-or a low approach followed by a go around, just for practice. at the very least a wind check 2prevent SWP-it was pretty open spot.--nice work though xcept you terminated in a hover ;)

  • "down wind cheeks" would those be the ones on you arse then?

  • you should probably learn how to spell if you want to make fun of people on youtube.

  • Spell? Most of the YouTube mouthbreathers can't even say a sentence correctly nevermind putting it in print.

Nice "25 hour/training" confined area landing. I wouldn't have bothered with the landing either if the grass was too high.

  • Comment removed

  • lol you could land a piper cub in that field

  • har har har - I agree but it was my first time after all. We elected to pick the biggest 'confined' area we could find!

  • ok well anyway good job!!

  • How's this confined??!?! As Tryagain1971 said, go to New Zealand (Where I learned to fly the Schweizer 269CBi at Ardmore)

  • Confined??? come and fly in New Zealand, then you will see confined;)

  • amen to that pal

  • confined??

  • The place I learned it was sorrounded by trees 40 feet tall and the r22 had a small area to hover, very claustrophobic.

  • These trees are only 20 - 25 ft. 40ft must have been intersting..!
