@mkfag77 All any of the Get a Mac commercials was Windows bashing (and showing off a few show tricks like the magnetic power cord) without saying actually stating any objective positives about the Mac
@wilhamlin 1) are you saying that apple hardware can be used in any other computer? 2) but its significant that it was faster than all but one. 3.5) that's because of a particular hackers know how, not the weakness of the os 4) apprently your experiences arent the norm, are they?
@mkfag77 1) yes, they can 2) but it still wasn't true 3, 5) if a hacker can break into a system in under 5 minutes the day after a "security" patch, i'd say there's something wrong with the OS, why do you think the military doesn't use any Apple product? they just aren't as safe 4) it isn't just me, go to the Apple store and ask around the people going to the "genius" bar, it's alot of viruses and spyware problems
@wilhamlin lol, the dvd drives are different, the hard drives are different, video cards are different 2) it was true of all they had tested 3)the government in us had recent breach of windows look at this:ht tp://ww w. menafn. com/qn_news_story_s. asp?storyid=1093453536 4) then this would be big tech news, show me an article saying this has happened
@mkfag77 1)i'll give you the dvd drives are different, but they can be used, the only thing different about the HDDs are the connectors, and the GPUs are mobile graphics which means you can use them if you know what you're doing 2) but they did test the Phantom, so it wasn't true 3) This article has nothing to do about the military
@wilhamlin congrats on two old viruses for osx. heres one from THIS WEEK for microsoft:ht tp://technolog. msnbc. msn.com/_news/2011/11/04/8635521-microsoft-issues-duqu-virus-workaround-for-windows

@wilhamlin are you saying that the mac vs pc ads were incorrect? if so, which one (s)?
mkfag77 4 months ago
@mkfag77 1) the "breakthrough"- claiming that all the Mac hardware are made by one company.
2) "Misprint"- technically incorrect. PC world DID say that Mac was the fastest laptop to run Vista, until 2 weeks later.
3) "biohazard suit"- implying that there aren't any viruses for Macs OSX
4) "computer cart"- saying that Macs don't get "cryptic error messages"
5) "Trust Mac"- claiming that there is no need to worry about spyware when running OSX

@wilhamlin 1) which one is that because i have seen them all, many times and none states that
2) all i could find was this, where was it updated? ht tp://w ww. pcworld. com/article/135062/apple_macbook_pro. html
mkfag77 4 months ago
@mkfag77 1) youtube.com/watch?v=gvcmOBWieu8
2) engadget(.)com/2007/12/07/macbook-pro-really-was-pc-worlds-fastest-tested-laptop-until/
3 & 5) well considering that OSX is easier to hack than windows, one could say that OSX is more vulnerable
4) I haven't gotten one since ME, with snow leopard, i'd get one about every other week
wilhamlin 4 months ago
@wilhamlin 1)lol that means merely that hardware and software are DESIGNED by one company. only teeny tiny solaris does the same
2)lol, did you see the PRICE of that pos? 3,5) where are you deriving that osx is EASIER to hack? 4) you didnt answer my question
mkfag77 4 months ago
@mkfag77 1) Apple hasn't DESIGNED their own hardware since the G3
2) that wasn't the point, the point was that Apple wasn't the fastest
3,5) every year since the competition Pwn2Own started, OSX has fallen first, with the record time being under 10 seconds
4) It apparently was more of a problem in my experiences

@wilhamlin the gpus are different :ht tp://ww w. nextag. com/mac-graphics-card/compare-html
2) ht tp://ww w. pcworld. com/article/135062/apple_macbook_pro.html
note the date of article, then date of end of reign
3) are you saying there was no military breack as a result of microsoft?
mkfag77 4 months ago
@mkfag77 they aren't any different than the ones in any other PC/ Laptop
2) so it lost its fastest notebook title about a month sooner, and the ad was still released after the Phantom review
3) The last time there was a possible hack in the military was when china attempted to hack NASA in 07. And NASA doesn't use Windows, they use Solaris
wilhamlin 4 months ago
@wilhamlin you cannot use any pc gpus in a mac and vice versa
2) it had title in july, lost in sept, i think.
ad was released BEFORE that
3)ht tp://ww w. securitymanagement. com/news/top-government-lab-hacked-008447?page=0%2C1

@mkfag77 but you can is the point, perhaps not out of the box, but you can.
2)It was given the title in july, lost it in september, and the ad was released in December.
3) and that link is dead :/
wilhamlin 4 months ago
@wilhamlin and you can't, is also the point
2)actually the ad is true, the mac CAN run vista faster than pcs (all but one)
take ALL spaces out, nonetheless:ht tp://tinyu rl. com/7q4bzs2

@wilhamlin 3)are viruses much more of a significant problem in windows or osx? that's the "implication" that i derive from it
4) which os gets them far more?
5)is spyware much more of a concern in windows than osx?
