I'm a guitarist and the bassplayer in my band has a good slapping technique, and I always wonder how that triple slap kinda percussive "didididid" is done -like at 0:38, how does she do that? What part of her hand or fingers is quickly hitting the strings? Aside from that I don't know how much I like the amps but her playing is pretty damn sick.
You slap an open string - the E-string for instance - and then you hit the fretboard hard with your left hand, slap the same string as before (which is muted now cause your left hand is muting it) and then you pop the G-string which is also muted.
Slap open string - Hammer-on (just not on a fret) - Slap muted - Pop muted.
thanks for the video a product I couldn't find much on. I think it sounds a little stale. Almost like a good D.I. which would be great for alot of styles, but useless for others.
I don't know how can anyone hear any difference listening to a youtube video. I mean if you hear a difference that's more likely to be a different EQing on the two preamps.
@Specialroos77 That "bridge" is just her hairband used to dampen the strings playing them open.... That's a TRB 5PII exactly like mine and I can tell you it's very far from "thin"
she uses it for a capo. the bass is 35" scale. she does it with her lakland's too. capo off at the first fret, tune to e and it's shorter scale. like 33.5"ish.
wow damn that's some mighty fine bass playing on some pretty sweet ass gear can't wait to get the new staccato combo what's up with wrap around the neck by the headstock? anyone..just dampining or what?
This is a great product demo....... TC you need to have more of this sort of thing with this sort of calibre of players...... Bassida really sells your stuff so well.
very nice clarity , and note seperation , sounds alive , not dull or lifeless , and not to fake sounding, like somany digital rigs , and great playing by the way
I love her face, she is so v much sexy

Very nice demo - but hey you've left your hair scrunchy on the first fret!
eckie4679 1 year ago
@eckie4679
It's there for a reason, it's to dampen the strings so it won't ring or buzz, a lot of slap players do that. =)
GiantPandas 1 year ago
@GiantPandas Yep figured that - a novel yet very economical application but hey i don't have enough hair for a scrunchie!

Nice to see a female playing bass, in a 'normally' male-dominated scene.

raljazz 1 year ago
1) For sure, the hairbands do not act as a capo. It's used to mute the strings and give her a cleaner slapping/tapping sound
2) The Yamaha is stock. It is the most high-end TRB one, so it comes stock with the individual saddle bridge
3) Great playing by Ida!!!
mas502arc 1 year ago
@mas502arc no.1 thats a pretty smart Ida !! i'll try to grow my hair and give it a shot . ta .

The RH450 has more grit/punch to it compared to the Staccato to my ears, where the Staccato is a bit brighter and perhaps mid-scooped.
chjohnst 1 year ago
Great sounding head need to get one. i wonder how it would work in a rock band.
dbt07 1 year ago
Staccato is def a bit brighter sounding in this recording
chjohnst 1 year ago
Holy crap she's fantastic! Great job!
EricAntonik 1 year ago
hey everyone, the hairband is to help mute the bass strings so that she gets a cleaner slap with absolutely no ringing from the other strings.
NikWestBass 1 year ago
@NikWestBass
Thanks! I was wondering about that.

Yeah OK - it looks like a hairband though. Maybe she simply has to short arms ;-)
It is also seen here at the end of the video

not great enough than a Tech 21 preamp bass amplifier lol ^^ but her demo is okay.
Meteotrance 1 year ago
The Stacatto seems a bit more scooped. More top end and low end.
So for a lot of stuff I actually like the RH450 more, it's a bit warmer. (in this demo that is!)
