  • great job looks great

  • Just an idea...angle the feed and air tube down at a 45* angle, and you should have a self feeding stove. The air vacuum should keep the fire from creeping up the fuel source. Of course, this is just theory. Nice job!

  • I hate these attempts at music vids, they all suck!!!

  • Slick stove! I thought I might mention that it's worth checking with local companies that install exhaust for free scrap tubing. I built a pit smoker a few years back and was able to get some nice pieces of scrap pipe for free! My project required 2.5" but I'm sure it's possible to find 3" exhaust pipe as well. Thanks for posting the video!

  • Very cool way to save.... well as long as you have welding skills.

  • Looks like a pretty good stove.Have to look into making one.

  • nice job looks great

  • did grover one better stainless, great job

  • Great stove! I saw the one for sale, yours is better. If you cut the pipe on 45 degrees you would save pipe and maybe some time, I'm here in MS, I'm gonna make a pizza oven outa mud, there's alot of mud here!!

  • @tirionson1 Thanks ! You should do a vid of the oven! I'v e been thinking of making a cobb wood heater !

  • I made one of these with some large tomato cans and a big decorative tin. It burned the wood so fast, that I started loading it from the top. Have you considered any other designs that include self loading?

  • I built a rocket stove with 3" pipe. It burns fine, but takes 30 minutes or more to boil a gallon of water. How long does yours take. I am interested to know. I used 1/8" thick steel pipe. it seems that a lot of the energy is used to heat up the mass of pipe. I also made one from thinwall stove pipe and it would boil a gallon of water in 10 minutes. Go figure!

  • @wtlegits this one will boil a quart of water in about 8 mins, roughly..thats in a regular pot.i used exaust pipe so its pretty thin. thanks for watching!

  • 2:02 looks like the fire is making a 16

  • you should work for A-Team :)

  • What's not to like about this video? I think it's a fine stove.

  • great video some very good ideas

    thanks for posting it up

  • I made one from that hardware store tin for exhaust gas from a hot water heater and cooked through it it was great while it lasted but it croaked when the hole blew out and my insulation got into the combustion chamber. Best to reienforce the elbow as best you can that is where it will fail one day. That one is heavy duty when you go to clean it dont tap on it you will loose some of the sidewall where the greatest heat accumulates. Great to sit by at night when you listen to the game.

  • @cdltpx You in Louisiana? That sure looked like a crayfish boiler.

  • Me likes ! I'm going to build one too because nothing beats doing it yourself !

  • thats sick! :D

  • Nice work there. I love making stuff like this, main part is sitting down afterwards and enjoy the benefits especially on your pocket!

  • @survivingoutdoors yes sir its a good thing to have in emergencies too ! I would recommend everyone to have something like this ! you never know when the grid may go down...thanks for watching! I must say I truly enjoy watching your vids ,I wish I could get out into the woods more often!

  • I wonder if a rocket stove this size INSIDE a big flash stove would have any advantages? (obvious first advantage is clean looks inside the house.) But would that offer a heat-gain advantage?

    Great work, thanks for posting.

  • Very nice job on the stove..........the stove you are duplicating is one I am considering buying.

Have you looked at the Grover Oven.?

Do you think the oven would be a good choice for baking.

  • I did not see that so ,I checked it out. it looks great! i believe it would work very well, his new style stove will probably work very well too,These are a lot of work to make and I think he does very good job...if you buy the oven hit me up and let me know how it does! These are well worth the price he is charging! awsome in emergencies and camping,i have had my family wanting me to make them some but I told them just to buy one its well worth it!

  • So you're the common man? How common is it for a man to have his own shop space, wielding supplies, the metal pieces, and s kiln to bake the heat insulating brick cylinder? Anyways it seems like it paid off for you. $40 Chinese pre-built stovetec 2 door charcoal burning stove standard is a little more economical for a lot of other people.

  • Great stove, good job.

  • What did you use to insulate?

  • vermiculite, you can buy it at ace hardware in the wood stove section its very light wieght but works very well

  • hehe you know, i have exactly the same thing, using it for 6 years to cook exclusively, but yes the 3" is fine, just that you cant use a bit larger twig.

  • fab rocket stove !!! the stisks i use are about one inch at the base and 5 foot long, also i burn palletts from the lawn mower factory next to me, they are four inch, so my brick rocket bbq had about a 5 inch inlet.

  • These are great I have found another old tank and Im gonna make another one!But this time with the 4 inch tube! its finding the tube thats the problem ,but Im on the hunt....I dont want to pay alot for it.your stove sounds awsome too!!! thanks for the feedback!

  • The next one I build will have a four inch tube ,But I have not had any problems what so ever out of this one! I built it in march and have used it many times with no hang ups at all! Ive fryed lots of stuff and also cooked many pots of soup on it!

  • you should make it with at least 4inch tube, 3 inch is too small and you will have difficulty with maintaining fire as well as feeding the fuel.
