What people fail to realize is that the mongols had a different way of expanding than other empires this was the reason for their extremely fast growth. The way was to not assimilate the population into their empire but to wipe them out. They murdered them. There was no diplomacy with the mongols (save for gold). What people fail to realize is that the mongols had a different way of expanding than other empires this was the reason for their extremely fast growth. The way was to not assimilate the population into their empire but to wipe them out. They murdered them. There was no diplomacy with the mongols (save for gold). This is why this was such a short empire. Only lasted 120 years. And what the poster failed to point out is that 2/3s of the empire were tributary states. Like Novgorod and Korea.

Not true, the British Empire was significantly larger than the Mongol empire; this is especially remarkable seeing as how it was the horse archer which enabled the mongols to conquer vast (lightly populated c. asia wouldnt have offered much resistance, so take that into consideration) areas. All the european powers had trouble controlling the natives of the americas, even today there are native organizations fighting for self governance. Nunavut, Canada for example has allowed the Inuits to self govern and manage their province. In the end the british, spanish, french powers failed to hold on to the western powers.

Without them Russia might be peaceful. Russia has had a long history of cruel ironfisted leaders, which tradition comes from the Mongols. They held the Russian land for a hundred years or so.

Actually without them, the Russians would still be fragmented and fighting each other. In fact, they would even be under the Germans(Teutonic Invasion), or Polish, or Hungarian, or even the Turks(Ottoman Empire expanding north). And possibly later on other major invasions. Napoleon, Hitler, etc.

Russia has been around as a faction for over a thousand years... Novgorod then, but still. Russia wasn't fragmented when the Mongols invaded and took over. Possibly without the mongols, Russia would be further up to Europe and with no influence from the Mongol brutality when it comes to leadership, they might be a respected part of Europe right now.

Wrong, the Russian principalities were divided prior to the Mongol invasions, fighting each other both in military and politics. This is the Medieval period, the series of brutal leadership persisted even before the Mongols invaded. Dungeons, public torture, and public executions, were common in the principalities, along with the rest of Europe. Without forced unification, the Russians would be forced to unify by another invader, or overrun and exterminated.

No, Mongol brutality in the battlefield differed from their management during times of peace. Being nomads, and following the ideas of Genghis Khan, the Mongols allowed religious tolerance and free trade. In fact the so called "Tatar yoke" and terrible oppression wasn't even that real. The Rus were just forced to pay tributes. The rest is exaggerated propaganda, to unify the Russians into fighting back the Mongols.

the mongolian empire didnt even last long it last for like 130yrs max and it quikly crumbled pluss the muslim mamlukes defeated them in syria and iraq and most converted 2 islam and became part of the muslim empires

ok, ur facts are a little messed up. Mongol empire started in 1197 and reached its peak in 1298 and started loosing land. First they lost the middle east because the mongol empire was divided into four section between Ghengis khan's sons and they kept on killing each other. In 1400s mongolia lost china and in mid 1400s they lost russia. Mongol empire ended in 1600 when manhurians took over. All of middle east was ours and arabs never took over mongolia, so whose here to laugh?

and lets not forget about other mongol warlords that followed after the slow decline of the empire. Timur the lame reunited parts of the falling empire quicly taking the middle east, persia and Russia forging them together again. He also conquered india from the sultanates teh next stop was china but he died before reaching china. Also lets not forget about babur, great warrior who was the descedent of genghiz khan and timur he founded the mughal empire in india, mughal is persian for mongol!

the mongol empire was by far the greatest, largest and most culturally diverse empire the world has ever seen or known besides the British and Russian empires. An empire strecthing from the sea of japan all the way to the baltic and black sea. Mongols conquered advanced nations like china, persia and the abassids of Iraq. Mongols created religious tolerance with muslims, christians buddhists and hindus even though most mongols converted to islam. Mongol empire is my favorite empire.

the mongols never go deeper into western europe mainly because they cant afford a defeat anymore. mongols never fight western europe even after their new great khan is elected and after china is conquered. cavalry is weak in hills and forest and the germans are gd in that. germany is hre homeland and mongols doesnt really know the terrain well or even manage to get a advantage a
