I watched this video yesterday at the Priests and Laurel Conference. This message has really touched me. Im so happy to be a Mormon and being able to have the gospel in my life.
Studying the scriptures helps me to feel calm, understand what to do, and have peace inside myself. I find it easier to be nice to other people, more patient, and if I study the scriptures AND pray fervently, life is so much better.
I have done this for the past few months, intently almost every day. Tonight I realized that my life has become truly rich. I have discovered how to really feel the love of God, most of the time. I am understanding things that have puzzled me for years. Injoy!
An ancient solution just as relevant now as it always was, love love love this message, it's my new life mantra. Please keep these Mormon messages coming, I've come to rely on them!
I love that they used the word static. When I'm spending my energy and time thinking about and trying to be worldly all I have in my head is static and it gets exhausting. This video is beautiful.
I find it hard to understand why people criticize and try so hard to find fault towards Mormons. By listening to these messages I reinforce what I believe is good and true. Those who go against us will only fail at there wasted attempts. There is no fault in the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, just individuals, just people who don't understand what they are missing.
This is precisely why I now have a little girl. #4 in my family after thinking after 3 I was done. I'm so grateful I was receptive. I shudder to think of my life without her!
I loved this message so much that when I was at a garage sale and saw an antique radio that I had to buy it to help me remember this great message. Very well done, thanks! It sure makes me miss Pres. Faust!
The Bible is not our only guidance "Hero man". I'm not down playing the Bible or speaking ill of it. There are many religions and people you can draw on. I know, put not your faith in the hand of man. Search it out and you'll know by the spirit of God if it's true. Open your mind. You'll never progress if you shut your mind down my friend.
@TheoneHeroman Hi. You are not a pharisee, but that is exactly what they said about the 'Old Testament' and Christ's message in his day. I beg of you to pray to God, and search in even more places than you know of now, for the Spirit of Christ, and with an open mind, and with sincerity. God has so much more information than we do, and shares it openly to the sincere.
@TheoneHeroman : I love the Bible. I rejoice in the Savior's words in the book of John chapter 14 verses 16 and 26. The Holy Ghost is another comforter--the voice of the Spirit--whom the Savior promised would '...teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.'
@TheoneHeroman John 15: 26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
If the bible is our only guidance to God, what makes us different from the Pharisees and Scribes who lived only by the written law and not by faith? How miserable is our fate, and hollow our worship if that is true? 1 Cor. 12: 3
@82duckie Yes, you move your mouse to the top right corner of the movie, and you will see the "Download this video" sign. Click on it and it will download the video on your machine. Then you can find it and watch without using utube. Good Luck!
@82duckie The only way that I know of is to click work offline in the File tab. Then you can use it without the internet and possible click the Save Page As in the File tab on FireFox
i also love watching and listening to these videos and I am not a member of the LDS church. But the Spirit has borne witness to me that these messages are of great benefit to people seeking to come closer to Heavenly Father and to serve The Christ during this dispensation of time, the time above all when so much is expected of and demanded of us.
This is James E. Faust speaking!!! When I was 12 years old, in 1996, only a decon, in the aaronic preisthood, James E Faust came to our ward!!! That day, it was my assignment to pass the sacrament on the stand, and James E. Faust was on the stand, also, so I got to pass the sacrament right to James E. Faust!!! I was scared, but at the same time, it was a wonderful experiance!!! He came to my ward for a missionary farewell!!! One of his granddaughters was that missionary's girl friend!!!
@blackday12341, one way that I have come to recognize the voice of the Spirit is by the feelings that come with thoughts that I receive. The feeling of peace can only come from the Prince of Peace. Whatever you do in life that brings you peace, and brings you closer to Christ will help you learn to hear the voice of the Spirit. The things that bring you closer to Christ are those done in worship. For how to worship see "How to Worship" by Bruce R. McConkie. (continued on next post)
@blackday12341 (continued from last post) Another good one is "Elements of Worship" by David O. McKay in the Teachings of the Presidents of the Church. If you do not have these, they can be found online for free, just search the titles I gave you. You can take your question, and search the scriptures for the answer. As you ponder on how you best hear the voice of the Spirit, I can promise you that you will have it communicated through the very voice that you want to learn to hear.
How does the Voice speak? The Voice speaks with a burning in your bosom and It fills your heart and mind with a light that is incomparable to anything you have felt before. It comes to you when you ask it to. When you invite it, you will know when it is there and it will fill you with joy and peace and all reasoning will try to convince you that what you feel is not of the Voice.
@blackday12341 : The voice of the Spirit is calm, peaceful, and comforting, bringing gladness and joy to your heart and mind. It may be a sudden, unbidden flow of pure intelligence into your mind--otherwise known as a prompting or as inspiration.
The voice of the Spirit is gentle. You must study your question out in your mind, make a determination, and then ask God if it be right. The Spirit will grant you an assurance if it is right. You will feel and know it is so without a doubt.
It's always good to hear President Faust speak again,
I like the way that the church has found a way to reach and teach all ages about the gospel, I find these videos useful for sharing a message with my family for Family home evening. I hope to continue to emulate President Fausts words in my life and help those that I care for.
The more you listen follow the counsel of the Spirit the easier it gets to hear its counsel. But you must keep your thoughts free from evil as the spirit will not compete with unclean thoughts. The more you resist Satan and his enticing inevitably Satan will give up. This is the war you must fight in your own mind. Remember this that if Satan wins you lose. Here and now is where you decide who will win that war. Chose wisely.
With the voice of the Spirit, we can know the truth of all things!!! We can listen to the voice of the Spirit by turning off the t.v.s, radios, computers, ipods, phones, and other electronic devices!!! We can listen to the voice of the Spirit by sitting very still, in a quit and peaceful place, where there are no distractions and noises!!! The voice of the Spirit brings you comfort, peace, happiness, and joy!!! Obey the voice of the Spirit!!! The voice of the Spirit never lies and is honest
"do not spend money for that which is of no worth, nor your labor for that which cannot satisfy"
Why is a car shown during this scripture? Do cars have no worth? Value is subjective, when you ask about a things value you must add on, "valuable to whom?"
@billysunerson The scripture is talking about eternal worth, or relationships. Relationships, covenants, and knowledge are all that we can take with us after this life. Of course a car could have worth, just of a temporal sort.
The simple truth is that we are all being called to the work more clearly in these latter days. We are apart of the christian army marching as to war...of love and service. The best part of this whole process is this-our agency to choose our path. Those that hear the calling, will come and join us. I am grateful to know a few of you!!! KB-Gilbert, AZ.
I'm thankful and grateful to the chosen servants of God here on earth to guide and warn us everyday.. this is so comforting and inspiring.. I will try more of my best to listen to the Holy Ghost....
I love this! It is good for my soul. "Listen to and follow the voice of the Spirit. This solution requires you to have patience and to walk by faith in a world governed by sight and instant gratification. Hearkening to the voice of the living God will give you peace in this world and eternal life in the world to come."
If there is one thing in the gospel that needs to be better understood and practiced by us all, it is probably the ability to hear and follow the voice of the Spirit of God.
What I love in this mormonmessage as Preident Faust adresse us - it gives me so much in so many ways .
A lovely perspective of life .
This message is beautifully taught out as every Mormon message is -
Here I get the feeling that President Faust is addressing us from the other side of the weal , trough Gods special freakwense spoken when he was here - beautifully put through the spirit of the Lord to inspirer to be taught once again
thank you i startig not to belive in god until i found the mormon religen im going to start this relginen its a first in a long time that i feel alot of faith in my self
I'm also pretty happy about them deciding which comments to include. It is always pretty sad to see comments that bring down what this video tries to give people.
@AtamaNKrasno Gotta love that feeling, especially since the video could have been about almost anything. It's what you get from it that makes a difference.
This has to be one of the most significant and powerful messages yet produced. I will ltry better to follow the guidance and hope all my family do so as well. This is the answer the world seeks.
I love President James E. Faust. I miss him so much!! It's so good to hear his voice - his is a voice that references me to a good place in my mind. I'm grateful for men like him who choose to follow Jesus Christ and set an example for us to follow. I will forever remember and love President Faust!
What more could you possibly ask for? Peace in this world and eternal life in the world to come. There is nothing greater!
Thank you for producing these videos. I've heard some of these talks before. At the time I remember thinking, "That was a good talk." But they hit me like a ton of bricks in this format.
It really does take a lot of effort to filter out the static and to fine-tune your ear to hear the promptings of the Spirit. I thought the message in this video was a great reminder about how we can find peace throughout our life while being constantly bombarded with distractions and temptations.
Here i sit with a cell phone with amazing features a computer with dual monitors, my satellite radio with a remote control, and my work cell phone. I am realizing how inundated I am with technology and stuff. This is a great message. I need to just shut it all off. It's hard when work requires a lot of this stuff, but I need to take time and just disconnect for longer periods of time than I have been.
What a wonderful message. I wish more people today would harken to this message and take heed to what they listen to/watch. Thank you President Faust, for that wonderful message!
The spirit is a delicate and sensitive thing to keep as a constant companion. Now is the time to avoid the grey areas of right and wrong choices. Lay aside the worldly vices and stand in holy places. "Let virtue garnish your thoughts unceasingly" You won't ever regret a choice that strengthens your spiritual resolve and character.
@pottershand - I hope that this doesn't sound argumentative, but the contrary is true, Mormonism teaches everything in harmony with the Bible. In fact, there is more in harmony with the Bible than any other.
@pottershand Glad you enjoyed the video. I don't want to begin a "Bible-Bash" because they are never productive and certainly aren't conducive to The Sprit. Let me just say that I know exactly how you feel - I felt the same way at one point in my life. After sincere prayer I discovered that EVERYTHING the LDS Faith teaches is in perfect harmony with the Bible. When the fruit is sweet, the tree is good.
I listened to the whole speech just a couple of weeks ago (it's a 199something CES fireside) and have loved it since. It's such a blessing to have these strengthening messages from the Lord's servants.
I love the image of calm, quiet reflection. Only by finding quiet time can we here the voice of the Spirit in our hectic lives. Thank you for this reminder.
@OriginalAdler24 Welcome, I am glad you enjoy the messages. Their purpose is to make us all better people and closer to Christ. I hope you continue to visit the channel to see more future messages.
I watched this video yesterday at the Priests and Laurel Conference. This message has really touched me. Im so happy to be a Mormon and being able to have the gospel in my life.

What are you spending your efforts on?
This is a great question we all need to ask ourselves every once in a while.

I thought he was going to die at the end. This was really depressing. I got the message... but I really think it gave the message of "sad old man" .

I liked this video. However, Mormonism teaches some things which are contrary to the Bible.
