Sorry in advance for saying this...andrew wouldn't use the word "disgusting"...but i would...some of the food is disgustingly horrible...jus by the look of it...again...sorry if i offended anyone
you call the hairy fruit is "Ngoa = เงาะ" in Thai language. Almost of Andrew's bizarre food in Thailand is the traditional food of northeastern of Thailand. It isn't normally Thai food because Thai food culture in central, east, north and south have been only take vegetable and fish for long time ago. and pork eating tradition just have been starting about King RAMA V of Chakri dynasty.
@nutchapabha It's that smell. Some people are okay with it, some have a fetishistic love of it, others just can't stand it. Zimmern and I just happen to fall into that later category. It's just hard to get into eating something that smells like a homeless zombie in July.
I have become vegetarian due to the living conditions in processing plants (and the torture that occurs within), but I would eat Kobi beef in a heartbeat. I mean, it had a great life and then died right? Isn't that the best anyone can ever hope for? That, and the taste apparently...
I don't understand why people have problems with eating certain foods, I was raised in a Christian home and I'm white but somehow I manage to eat foods that this guy sees strange like the collar bones of chicken, and heart. I ate them before and think it taste okay, not great but not bad. Just eat it, if others can then you can too
$1000 for a few grams of bird spit, hm? I wonder if it's worth all the fuss. Dunno if I could part with a month and a half rent for a few bowls of soup, no matter how good though!
@morwenna Just got back a couple days ago and it was fantastic! I had cockroach, grasshopper, beetles, silk worms, and giant water bug. I also got to eat durian and bird's nest dessert. YUM!!! Just stay away from the beach food though, I got bad food poisoning from (I suspect) raw green mango in Pattaya.
$150 for a bowl of birds nest soup. That's just a alot of fucken bs. No way in hell bird saliva is worth that much. If you stupid enough to spend that kind of cash, then your a fucken idiot
It costs so much because the birds nests are found in the most dangerous places. Men risk their lives to get these nests, the supply is limited but demand is high. Thats why.
@amabelrocks Yes, I've tasted it when I went to the Philippines with my friend for a vacation. It was so yummy! Lol, it was like lychee =D It's so goood, I wish we had it here in Vegas lololol

He's mistaken here. The red bird nests are way more expensive and could go up to 10,000 USD a kilogram.

If you hate durians, have you tried fermented durian? It's a paste eaten with rice, popular in north east Malaysia.
