You shouldn't say "only a silver star". Saying that makes it look like a Silver Star is not worth much and easy to get. This is silly. Almost every military in a country have different special forces. Green berets are not better than delta force or navy seal or devgru or whatever. They are all trained for different missions. But i would say that the US special forces are the top 3 best special forces in world cuz of experience,size and equipment. I guess the Brittish,Australians,Germans and Russians should be on the list too.
Russia have Spetznaz, Brits got SAS or Royal Marines, which are Comandos. The US has GB, Recon marines, but they are some thing else now, Delta, Rangers, Seals. thats all i know.

Honestly I dont think American Special Forces deserve the top of the list. They just get all the media attention. British SAS is definetly top of the list, just because they don't get the attention, it's because unlike the States, special forces should be kept secret. Not used as propaganda. Israeli Commandos are probably up there to along with the Canadian JTF-2, and Aussie SAS.

@flowango the SAS and 1-SFOD-D are on par with each other.they often send operators to work with there foriegn counter parts.the DEVGRU would be on par with these units as well.

really? because if you look up operation redwing you would see that 4 yes 4 Navy SEALS fought off 150 taliban and the green berets had 50 of them plus 100 afgan commandos to fight off 200 taliban and they still had to call in air support.

We don't go around deliberately killing innocent civilians. We invade and fight the people who pose a threat like al-Qaeda and the Taliban. In fact, we helped set up free elections in both Afghanistan and Iraq so that the people could vote in their own governments. Oh by the way, al-Qaeda slaughtered about 3,000 innocent people on 9/11 and the Taliban allowed them to do it and remained their ally even after the attack. Remember that? In the NAM-war (and the first Iraqi-war) the Green Berets were heroes for the Americans - but later - Iraqi-war 2 and Afghanistan - American people called their GI's "poor boys" - what a shame when they came back to the USA - wounded - injuried body or (and) soul - no more honor or silver wings - nothing !! This is silly. Almost every military in a country have different special forces. Green berets are not better than delta force or navy seal or devgru or whatever. They are all trained for different missions. But i would say that the US special forces are the top 3 best special forces in world cuz of experience,size and equipment. I guess the Brittish,Australians,Germans and Russians should be on the list too.

Honestly I dont think American Special Forces deserve the top of the list. They just get all the media attention. British SAS is definetly top of the list, just because they don't get the attention, it's because unlike the States, special forces should be kept secret. Not used as propaganda. Israeli Commandos are probably up there to along with the Canadian JTF-2, and Aussie SAS.

really? because if you look up operation redwing you would see that 4 yes 4 Navy SEALS fought off 150 taliban and the green berets had 50 of them plus 100 afgan commandos to fight off 200 taliban and they still had to call in air support.

What the insurgents are doing is wrong and there is no justification for it. Also, we do not condone torture of any captives. In fact, we've been giving our captives meals and medical treatment all at taxpayer expense. There have been Americans put on trial for torture like the US troops who committed the violation at the Abu Ghraib prison.

I saw a tv interview with one of Saddam's generals (forced to serve) and he said that the weapons were moved and hidden in Syria..when Saddam found out the weapons inspectors were coming to Iraq.
