ah i miss the beard but still love the yurt series. you're the only guy actually doing it dave, hands down the best survival instructor to be found online
WOAH I was trying to figure out what was wrong, the beard is missing haha! Glad you're back Dave, can't wait for more vids and I'm keeping an eye out for your SAN production!
@rockinglock i myself am youtube channel search inclined can you.... oh you did lol... i was gonna say throw up a link in the description well there ya go glock
Dave and Gang.....you are like Gods and you rock. I like everything thing yous guys do and have since day one. I tell everyone to watch. Anything Dave C is great from Shark-week to Dual Survival, but this is the best and it is RAW and real. Keep it up! Dave, thank your wife and family for supporting you and letting you teach us the Pathfinder way!!! Looking forward to the new channel too. Happy squirrel eating guys!
Have you posted videos on things that can be shot out of the twelve guage when you run out of ammo? I thought I saw something that effect but that might have been the muzzle loader.
hey dave could you do an edc video? i know its sort of overrated but chris said you had an edc video but you took it down...just interested in what you carry everyday and what you have on your edc carabiner
Sorry I hit post before I was done! But anyway I took an old satellite dish cut a hole in it sled it on and with a little chimney caulk it was weather tight.
Hay Dave I couldn't help to notice in a few yerts back that you have a big gapping hole in the roof? Me and a friend of mine just put one up, with a stove in the center quite like your set up. Well o didn't like all that air space between the stove pipe and the top of the yert
i would like to see you interviews in the yurt. invite some of the other instructors on ,and show one skill or trick they use in the field . kind of like late night for woodsmen and preppers . just an idea ..
I am waiting for the series of the surveyor!!! The second oldest profession besides prostitution! Those were real men! They were like the forward recon of their day. Field notes were impecable and online. Also check out west points digitized notes... Amazing detail.
WooHoo more yurt video's! Love this series Dave! Also can't wait for the next SAN video. I've been watching for a long time and must say that your video's are the best on youtube and the best when it comes to this type of stuff..
Dave I was watching one of your old videos on smoked rabbit.you spoke briefly about your own spice's .would you be willing to shear what you put in your spice's
Dave: What would you recommend for a good cover/shelter making object for my e-pack in east texas? too warm for wool or a space blanket, but it rains often.. i was thinking a pancho or tarp-esque piece but wanted another opinion
@kodythompson113 If you don't mind my opinion I live in the Texas Hill Country and I figure a re-usable space blanket would be just right unless you want a bigger size. In the summer you can set it up with the shiny side up and it should work pretty well at reflecting the sun off of you and in the winter shiny side down would keep you nice and toasty.
This is not the real Dave. The bearded Dave was real. He was abductee by aliens. Notice how he didn't do more videos. This alien is still acclimatizing. Call Mulder and Scully or Ray Mears to bring the bearded Dave back.
Dave, no need to apologise for taking some family time during the most Holy of holidays - sure I missed seeing anything but I'm happy that you have taken a break. Off to check out SAN channel!
Hell Yeah Dave....love the vids and the series! One question... My boy and I were trying to find some of your OLDER videos but they dont look up. You used to have a bunch on the versa shelter, from way back...but I couldnt locate them. I know they were earlier in your you tube days, but are they on here? Over time, I know you have changed your recommendations on some items..like now an axe over the saw which you recommended early on. Removing old data to stay current maybe? Keep it up in 2012!
@rbljackson I didn't realize he actually changed that cutting tool recommendation. I've noticed it's hard to keep track of things like that on his channel, but maybe that's because I haven't watched everything yet. I wonder where the archery videos went (did Dave just finish putting the info up so he stopped?) and the vicegrips from the common man kit, and stuff like that.
God bless you Dave! Hope you and te family had a wonderful Christmas. Love'n the the Yurt life and I've been subscrided to the channel, will be great to see!
we love what you do because your legit man, the real deal and that comes through to us watching whether it's tv (which is great) or on the net you 100% the real thing man. and thanks for doing them and your service to our country
Sir, I'd like start by saying thank you for all the free knowledge. I'm a army Sgt. at Ft. Carson Colorado I've been doing this for 12yrs and wish that the army had a program like yours for us. Something that could be a train the trainer program. Do u have any plans to do any class out this way or be in this area for any other event is so I'd really like to know. This high country would be great for your school. I am starting to put some money up so I can attend a class 2012 or 13. I also just
I didnt say only men can enjoy these video's, but rather stated that one get's addicted to these types of video's "IF" your into this subject matter. And im quite sure it's mostly men who are watching. Not to say there are not some females watching, just more of a guy thing.
Dave just saw your dual survivor where you cut yourself with cody's knife and cauterize your wound with gunpowder. That was a little bipolar of you man. but liking this yurt series. keep up the helpful info. hope you have a good new years.
Hey Dave, love the Yurt journal...it's like watching you live as a modern day pioneer. I'd love to see some more wood stove cooking, maybe a "Little Yurt on the Prarie" cooking show. No appliances, just ingenuity and some basic supplies. Keep up the good work, and thank Iris for letting us steal you away to bring us the "enter-train-ment" we yearn for.
Dave, I have totally enjoyed the Yurt series! I look forward to the videos every day. Good training videos and information for all of us out here. Keep up the good work!
You've got me thinking about putting up my own yurt in the back yard! This series is great. So much can be learned by your videos. Thank you so much for what you do. Keep living the dream and my son and I will see you in April at the Basics Class, a Christmas present from my wife. We can't wait!
I wait till the wife and son are both in bed, then I come on here for my "escape", looking for the next Yurt video. I guess this is how the ladies feel when they get addicted to those Soap Opera's. Only difference, is this stuff is real, interesting, and could save your life. So, keep'em coming Dave, your my connection to my roots and my man-hood sanity. Writing this from within my "man cave", in SW Ohio.
What makes this 1000% better than a TLC/Discovery production is you have a REAL pro deciding what is relevant and informative and not some producer who THINKS he knows but doesn't. This is why someday youtube/on demand programming that anyone can create will largely take the place of TV/cable. "Hollywood" has an agenda and isn't nearly as smart as they think they are. Plus there is sooooo much real talent out there. This channel ROCKS!
Fantastic these yurt vids are visual Crack, LOL, I love the learning expieriance Dave, And I will be looking up those survivaladventurenet videos. Thanks again Dave God Bless brother.
Love this series, but would like to see some trapping videos like the longhunters did. Beaver trapping isn't necessary, and I have trapped literally hundreds anyways, but I would like to see some cubby sets, even if it just for squirrels, and i would like to see a coon skin cap made and worn by you.
Yeah, my wife made me shave for my Christmas photos too. Glad to see some Yurt updates, been going through withdrawals like everyone else. Any progress on the waterproofing mix you guys were working on?
Love this series Dave. Was watching Dual Survival tonight...how bad did that self inflicted knife would scar up that you sealed up with the gun powder? Keep up the great work!
I put out 14 pvc bait stick traps today...Dave Land o Lakes should be sending you some fee hot chocolate with the sales you have generated. I have been eating cornbread and hot chocolate. Ill be puttin some pics up if I have any luck.
I was actually just about to email you on the yurt series so good timing I am watching dual survival and SAN now. This stuff is motivating I have already camped and cooked over an open flame more in the past two weeks than the whole last two months. God Bless and happy holidays!
i thought something was wrong with my subscribtion so glad to get my yurt fix anyway i hope you dont mind me asking but are you doing a 3rd season dual survivor yall have a blessed night god bless
I have a request, if feasible. Would you be willing to show the assembly/disassembly of the yurt? I would like to get an idea of what I would be getting into if I were to buy one for a deer camp. I am torn between one of those, or just buying a fish house trailer.
Glad to see you back "on the air"! Hate to see that you have shaved but I'm sure that was a Christmas Present for Iris. Like many I love your videos. On many nights I watch your videos instead of TV. I can't wait to see the new SAN video like many other fans!
Finally! Lol! This is getting bad! My wife says i'm addicted to youtube cause every time a new yurt vid comes out I bust out my "journal of the yurt" chant! Lol! Been lovin' this series, keep'em coming Dave! Can't wait to see the SAN video as well!
Damn... for the first time in my life I was about to go out looking for drugs because my YURT withdrawls were so bad. OMG !! I've got a YURT MONKEY on my back !
Dave, you are the man. I'm enjoying my subscription here and I love that you are visibly (but not ostentatiously) a man of God. Keep the videos coming on all the channels.
I met you at a gun show last year, total surprise! Bought your book there and I have been watching your vids and learning/expanding my bushcraft knowledge. I have property in S.E. Ohio and there I practice and learn the things I am seeing. You have helped me expand my knowledge and opened my mind to lot of new ideas. Love the single shot 12!! Keep the vids comin!!
A PVC hex "yurt" would infact just be a tent. Honestly this shelter is more like the Mongolian Ger than a traditional nomadic yurt... The name signifies the materials and design. Not speaking for Dave here but if you find a durable bullet proof alternative then more power to you...
I was checking my Email for the last couple of days like 15 times a day if there were any new videos from the yourt. Glad your back and I will the series on a daily basis again!
and having the rafters be 6ft also but the problem im getting is figureing out how to connect the top to the walls. but i figured that the yurt your staying in is abotu 2000 bucks and a common man like me could make a version or a yurt with just pvc some fittings and about 4 walmart 12x12 tarps. and it would be about a 5th of the weight of your yurt and pack much smaller it wouldnt be a tough as your yurt but something that anyone could build and set up in a few hours.
hey dave ive been kicking around the idea of making a lightweight alternative to the wooden yurt and have been thinking about using 3/4 or 1in pvc and making in a more of a hex. shape with 6ft. tall walls and each length of wall being 6ft.
definitely looking forward to more videos on survival adventure and this channel. i watch all your videos and use some of the ideas you guys come up with. hope to see many more videos soon! ^_^
Sweet Glad to hear from you Dave. I pray God has blessed you and your family over the holidays and that he continues to bless you into the new year. Thank you so much for your videos. I placed an order at the pathfinder school on 12/24 and recieved it all on 12/28. Everything is just what I was expecting. Thanks a lot and praise the Lord for guys like you who helps us learn about living in nature.
Great news Dave. I know I've been going through withdrawals myself, as have countless others. Lots of entertainment value, learning and sharing-for the common man. An unbeatable combination for success. Awesome stuff.
Just wondered if you had to pack up and relocate and then re-establish camp, how long would that take? (Less Travel Time) ...perhaps an idea for another edition of the Journal of the Yurt
i know a old man who dose not take showers !!!!! hes a good camper in my book . he even sleeps on a sleeping bag but saise he hates to be in nature wet and cold , he likes his coffee machine and his microwave too much
been enjoying your vids for a couple yrs now just watched a re run on discovery of dual survivor slash and burn, WOW that burn had to of hurt. when I get back on my feet im hoping to do your pathfinder phases. and purchase a few items off your site.
Dave just want to say you rock man!. I watch dual Survival this channel and your other channel as well you never fail to amaze me in the way you deliver your knowledge. You and Ray Mears are my Hero's man
Thanks Dave, just subbed to your other channel, looks good. Keep it up, learning a lot from you. Many thanks for all the info and time you give, it's very much appreciated :-)

I was actually just about to email you on the yurt series so good timing I am watching dual survival and SAN now. This stuff is motivating I have already camped and cooked over an open flame more in the past two weeks than the whole last two months. God Bless and happy holidays!

I have a request, if feasible. Would you be willing to show the assembly/disassembly of the yurt? I would like to get an idea of what I would be getting into if I were to buy one for a deer camp. I am torn between one of those, or just buying a fish house trailer.

I got caught trafficing Yurt videos across state lines. Im now in Federal Prison wishing I didnt have my addiction.

A PVC hex "yurt" would infact just be a tent. Honestly this shelter is more like the Mongolian Ger than a traditional nomadic yurt... The name signifies the materials and design. Not speaking for Dave here but if you find a durable bullet proof alternative then more power to you...

and having the rafters be 6ft also but the problem im getting is figureing out how to connect the top to the walls. but i figured that the yurt your staying in is abotu 2000 bucks and a common man like me could make a version or a yurt with just pvc some fittings and about 4 walmart 12x12 tarps. and it would be about a 5th of the weight of your yurt and pack much smaller it wouldnt be a tough as your yurt but something that anyone could build and set up in a few hours.
happycharly1 2 months ago
hey dave ive been kicking around the idea of making a lightweight alternative to the wooden yurt and have been thinking about using 3/4 or 1in pvc and making in a more of a hex. shape with 6ft. tall walls and each length of wall being 6ft.

Thanks for the update Dave, It's Appreciated.
Just wondered if you had to pack up and relocate and then re-establish camp, how long would that take? (Less Travel Time) ...perhaps an idea for another edition of the Journal of the Yurt
