Being a skilled driver myself after seeing the drive you did to your son's place it's plain to see you're not even close to giving up your driver's license! Keep burnin' up the roadways!!!
oooh, i quite like it! it makes me be less afraid of being older now i know you can still do some of the things you did when you were young, thanks internet grandad!
LOVE this poem! Thank you; you have inspired me to start writing poems again. I always enjoy your videos, keep up the good work and I hope you enjoy the bank holiday weekend!
Hi Saint Peter! My ears picked up when your poem began as I heard the familiar strains of an American folksong, commonly known in the USA as "Wildwood Flower." It's been performed many times here and I first heard it when I was about 12 years old at a summer camp. Written in 1860, it's still as fresh today as when it first appeared. Speaking of music, I'm singing Beethoven's massive "Missa Solemnis" tomorrow night with a 140-voice choir & orch. We can't all be country music fans...
@calvin3005 I answer all my letters in the geriatric youtube mail box so a message would get to me there. If you write to the askgeriatric website my webmaster forwards it to me ( he does vet the sender or company before and asks if I wish to reply).
Peter! This was a fantastic poem - would it be all right if I used this in a presentation? I'm an occupational therapy student at Cardiff University, and this poem sums up the presentation we're doing about not having stereotypical attitudes of older people! Thanks Katherine
You have absolutely outdone yourself, Peter. This poem is good enough to be sent to every adult facility in the country. You have such a wonderful sense of humor. By the way, I did send you a couple of messages but did not hear from you. All the best. Your 84 year old buddy, Bernie1927
I love Wildwood Flower. Great poem. I'm not as old as you yet, but I'm still confused when I look in a mirror. What is my mother doing in there? A nice spring day makes me feel like running. Then I remember I can't really run. My stiff knees won't move that fast and trying makes my feet hurt, but I can walk instead.
that had me laughing all the way through peter. i will be 64 this sunday may 15. not quiet as old as you, but being diabetic and all the problems it brings,i know what you mean.it's made me old and slow in the body, but i am about 35 in mind. married again 5 years ago, and have a 16 y.o. daughter, and a 37 y.o. son and grandsons. if that is not enough to keep me young at heart, nothing wil.lol
My nana once went to the shops and called us because she couldn't find her car! After we'd looked around the carpark it turned out the car was in the garage all along - she forgot she'd walked to the shops.
This is hilarious! I love it. My Auntie still drives at 93, but in a much more limited way. Her internet surfing is improving all the time and partly that's due to your influence; it makes me a more patient teacher. Her mind is still sharp; as yours clearly is! Thanks for all you do Peter; at almost 60 myself, I learn from you often.
@vtkfxtpsxiz Yes wrote it with cooperation for a friend as we tossed ideas back an forth. Will go to channel and read your message and of course will reply.
@geriatric1927 - Thank you Peter. I only asked because in the past few years a couple of messages I had sent that way never reached you -- you told me. So I thought maybe that happened again.
@geriatric1927 - By the way, anyone who says you should not be driving, has never ridden with you. I "took a ride" with you in your recent video and you are an excellent driver...much better than many who are a lot younger than you.
I'd love to translate it to my grandma in german and send the video to her. Would you put the text in the infobox or send me a message? that'd be very kind
