  • SOO glad the USSR collapsed! NO more!

  • @CazK88 Did USSR made something bad for you personally?

  • @ShitFromTransASS

I lost a relative who was in the national clandestine service and to this day, we still don't know how he died.

  • @CazK88 So don't you and your relative know that spying is dirty job? I would be ashamed to have CIA pupplets in my family. But why don't you hate CIA then? So if CIA is the reason you lost a relative, I suggest you to hate CIA.

  • @ShitFromTransASS

Before he died I never knew he was a spy. He always told me he worked in "national security" but national security is broad. He could've been anything from defense to clandestine services. I do not just everything so easily. Do you hate everyone who has made you mad? There's no need to be. What's done is done, and I realize I can't bring him back, but hating something won't do any difference. CIA will still exist. I have to respect the fact he wanted to be a spy.

  • @CazK88

"Hating something won't do any difference"

    "SOO glad the USSR collapsed"

-Of course, no hating here, you just brainwashing yourself

  • @ShitFromTransASS

No, what you're doing is CONFUSING yourself. Nowhere did you see me say I "hate" the USSR. I expressed my opinion in saying I was glad that they collapsed and I left it there. Stop digging. Why am I glad they collapsed? Because it ended the cold conflict of people losing their lives, like my uncle, where we could live in a better and safer world not having to worry about more cities looking like Hiroshima. Neither you or I could be living today if it weren't for the collapse.

  • Silly boys in a playground.

  • Nixon was the only person ever to stand up to this bully in public. The famously "liberal" Khrushchev was the man who ordered the invasion of Hungary in 1956 and had the Berlin Wall built in 1961. The latter was a consequence of the weakness he perceived in JFK, who later made that rather feable and much spinned speech by the Wall he had allowed to come into existence.

  • Comment removed

  • Khrushchev was a was an amazing diplomat. and to some degree Nixon.

Khrushchev's immortal words will live forever.

  • @NataliyaOS khrushchev is curly from the 3 stooges...

  • good comment

  • "The system that will give the people more goods will be the better system, and victorious." Okay wwell, we sure won that one!! We have wayyyyy too much crap.

  • @RJY4356

Consumer products no longer sustain life, friend. They do the opposite: they drain you of life. There is no meaning behind mass production of commodified consumer goods... I cannot agree with Kruschev here... because the US has trumped Russia in terms of providing for their citizens. Now look at America. If that's total victory, I'd rather be the loser in this situation.

  • Khrushchev seems like a cool guy

  • Khrushchev was a revisionist, a betrayer of communism. Breshnev was as well, he made "Khrushchevism without Khruschchev", but in another way: While Khrushchev tried to hide his revisionism behind a mask of "liberalism", Breshnev repressed the Soviet people. But the basics of their politics are the same.

  • the main important thing about Khrushev was that he genuinely wanted to improve the quality of life of his people

  • I can't agree. He only wanted to improve the quality of life of himself and his boureaucracy. His "economical reforms" prove that clearly.

  • no, you're wrong

did you know that "Krush" started massive housing projects and gave out free apartments to all families? his "economical reforms" were dumb, but what he did do was build heavy industries and factories, giving people jobs

  • This is not all of it, right? I thought there was a part in which Nixon talks about consumer appliances, and how Nikita talks about how they "focus on things that matter, not fancy things" or something like that, right?

  • and does khrushchev slap him at th end? it sounds like it!!!

  • At the end he slaps his hand.

  • @TheVeryLastHippy He is shaking his hand the whole time, and then when they make the deal, he slaps his hand and smiles.

  • i'm laughing at their convosation, boys and their toys ay? But this is ignorance and extreme tension showing the beggining of the cold war, so why are we laughing?!

  • Wormtail81 , why USA still intrude in countries and murder people there?

  • Without US we wouldn't have any discussions here.

Why do so many people put down America? It´s beyond me.I prefer US to Iran,North Korea,Former Soviet Union,Zimbabwe and Nazi Germany.

  • "The system that will give the people more goods will be the better system".... lol, how ironic.

  • indeed

  • "You must not be afraid of ideas." "...The time has passed when ideas scare us." This is a lie. Why did they burn books, imprison peaceful political activists? Why does Russia still murder journalists today? Has socialism ever been spread by some method other than misinformation?

  • You dont know basic historical facts. When Khrushhev came to power he brought very significant liberalism, allowed many prohibited before authors to be published, etc. He also exposed the crimes of Stalin. He even introduced Coca Cola in USSR.Khrushhev did not personally believe in socialism, but was following the general line of the party.

However after Khrushhev Brezhnev reinstalled lots of totalitarian methods back...

  • Khrushhev hardly strikes me as a paragon of classical liberalism. That sounds crazy to me.

  • Obviously not,but dont forget who did he changed-stalin himself. He was one of the most liberal secretaries of communist party of USSR,not countring Gorbachev ofcourse

Khrushhev has also greatly improved the quality of life of regular soviet people.People got flats, cars, more choice in consumer goods etc,

However Khrushhev was very aware of economic problems of socialist economy and was very sceptical about future of USSR (in private conversations ofcourse..)

  • "He was one of the most liberal secretaries of communist party of USSR." Honestly, what is that supposed to mean to anyone? Did common people have more economic freedom? More political freedom? I ask if they were free. The answer, until 1989, was definitively, "No."

  • Yes,all the mentioned

-under Khrushhev soviet people gained significantly more economics freedom

-yes,more political freedom as well. All the "dissident" authors got chance to publish (Solzhenitsin,Bulgakov f.e.).More traveling abroad was allowed.Army was reduced in size.Peasants got right to move to cities more freely.Propaganda also got lighter.Stalin f.e. was described as a criminal and bloody dicator, all his crimes were uncovered.

  • And yet they still had propaganda. That just doesn't do it for me.

  • We are talking in relative terms here.Khrushhev was better than Stalin and Brezhnev but he was still a head of totalitarian party and state.

  • In general under Khrushhev USSR has changed from Mao-like communist state to a "socialism-light" kinda country, like most of the countries in eastern europe.

Also certain level of private enterprising was tolerated etc. From economics side:people got access to cars, flats (although bad,but better than communal hostels!),TVs,refrigerators and other everyday items.

  • thank you for taking the time to respond. You are very intelligent and I appreciate learning from people who are learned.

Thank you, again for taking the time.

  • In any case Denacethemenace (above) chooses to forget that in 1945 the Russians managed to kidnap many of the German rocket engineers from Peenemunde who had not gone to the Americans. These men's expertise greatly helped the Russian rocket program in its first ten years.

  • I have to disagree Sergei Korolev did not have any Germans around him at all!

And he was the head engineer of the Soviet union from 45 to 66 .. It looks like you got your history twisted and that you are one of those who are still not recognizing the greatness and strength of Russia..

  • Khrushchev made a fool of himself.

  • kool i love all ppl

  • both usa and ussr can only say "Spacibo" or "thank you" to the GERMANS who promoted the entire space programs of both countries-

    Danke Shoen, Deutschen Scientists!

  • Dumb american .. YOU have to thank NAZIs for space program and rocket engineering..

Our primary scientist/engineer was %100 RUSSIAN ... His name is SERGEI KOROLEV ...

First in space and the most powerfull rockets bitch!!!!

  • Wasn't it nice of the Soviet authorities to release this brilliant engineer from the Gulag where he had spent 6 years! Don't be so proud of the USSR it was a bloody tyranny which oppressed and murdered its own citizens by the millions from 1917 to the 1970s when it became a little more humane.

  • oh yeah! color tv mother fuckazzzz

  • Neither systems work. That's all I can say.

  • Kruschev was nothing more than a pig farmer who rose up through Soviet politics through thuggery and brutality. The only good thing he ever did was to denounce Stalin.

  • What a great moment in history!

  • The Crisis of Capitalism has refuted this system of economics. Is time to change.

  • Really, how would you suppose to do so?

  • The Crisis of Capitalism was augmented by government policies that were socialist such as Fannie and Freddie.

  • You are ignorant beyond any sense of the term.

  • Thanks for the compliment

  • Not a problem pal.

  • Capitalism is not a failure; the USA has abandoned Capitalism. The Nations where a Free Market exists, is where people have escaped the feudalism of dictatorships and government controlled economies.

Greed? The USSR was not Greedy? Their Ambitions were not Greedy?

Capitalism has it's defects; but Communism is an institutionalized slavery-

Don't buy into the "Capitalism is a Failure"; no--the Abandonment of Capitalism is what is causing failure-

  • Khrushchev was actually quite a Genius politician and an amazing diplomat

  • @kohprush He was also an imazing military mind

  • @kohprush - the fact that the soviet union failed. obviously the ability of a government to succeed depends almost completely on the willingness of the people to support it. as china now owns the united states, perhaps capitalism isnt the answer we all thought it was, and soviets were a bit too power hungry to make it work.

  • @kohprush you must be measuring him on some sort of bolshevik scale -- one where shoe-banging = genius -- the u.s.s.r. certainly managed to create a "classless system" alright -- no class at all

  • @kohprush which is while he was eventually forced to resign. Just AMAZING! GENIUS!

  • @flashfast2000 He was forced because of the anit-stalinisim policies. And reluctance to go to war with the West.

  • Khruschev Let's compete!! Communism vs. Capitalism!

And the winner is: Capitalism since 1991!!

  • or so we thought

  • No the fundamentalism of Capitalism is still a majority and crux of the world. Even RUSSIA has turned capitalist.

These tough economic times are just a phase of life that we have to get through. It's testing our abilities to work together and use sophisticated minds to solve these problems. We have come along way and one who doesn't understand the world is lost.

  • Only someone with very little knowledge about the system of the USSR can write such nonsense.

  • Nixon's eloquence reminds me of Obama

  • I know Nixon was pissed the way Khrushchev took over the conversation.

  • More intelligent than Bush or Putin? True, but one might as well describe them as being more intelligent than a house brick.

What we have here is the petty squabbling and boasts of two men as self-interested and vain as the other; their "great debate" over the merits of their respective political ideologies amounts to Nixon mentioning colour TVs and Cadillacs while Khruschev whines that what he says won't be heard in the west (although what that is exactly is never very clear)

    Depressing

  • Compare this ´kitchen debate´ with a debate between Bush and Putin...

    What a diference!!

Each time, world leaders are becoming less intelligent and more stupid!!!

  • if ur indicating Bush is stupid then I perhaps i agree with you, putin on the other hand, far from that.

  • Of course! I was meaning Bush all the way..

Btw buddy Putin may be perhaps one of Russia`s most brillant leader in times to come...

    Are U from Russki Land??

  • yes

  • Putin May be intelligent, but not necessarily good. The typical Russian is NOT benefiting from Putin's new Plan!!

Only a Group on the inside.

Russia is a vast waste of any industrial innovations; and Putin is simply cashing in on the Few Resources that Russia has to Sell: i.e. Fossil Fuel, Natural Gas, Lumber, Minerals, Potash and Cheap Labor.

He is turning Russia into a Slavic Saudi Arabia-

They have neglected agriculture and their infrastructure.

    Russian Gangster Meatheads

    rule-Smart?

  • agreed

  • lol at khruschev

  • haha wow i wonder what Nixon was thinking during that

  • Educative
