In a preview of arguments expected next month in federal court, federal bank regulators Friday said in court papers Louis DeNaples should not be allowed to return to the board of First National Community Bank because of the "potential harm to the public interest."
The Morning Call reported in September 2007 that the Rendell administration blocked state police from conducting slots background investigations, instead giving the job to the bureau.
Because of the bureau's non-law enforcement status, the FBI, state attorney general and state police declined to share any potential criminal information on DeNaples, who got a slots license in December 2006.
