  • absolutley fantastic really cool!!!

  • cool

  • Great video - well done, Sir!

    tac from the VCRAI

  • shame it was dug out with a digger, would have been nice to see the old girl coming up in bigger pieces.

  • Why did they arrest the pilot and hold him for two years? I would think in 1941 they would need every pilot they could get.

  • @murphjy When Wolfe was arrested, he was sent to a low security prison called the Curragh Camp. Now it wasnt a prison where he was held and not given any sort of freedom, rather he mixed with other pilots who also crash landed on Irish soil. They drank beer together played football, you name it. Wolfe escaped the prison, made it back across the border and reported for duty, but was told to go back where he came from, because the British Government did not want to disrupt Irish neutrality

  • I know of another possible wreck site... Portmore Lea... a little lake to the east of Lough Neigh at Ballinderry upper. I am not sure wether or not it has been recovered but from what I was told years ago it actually crashed in the lake.

  • Its amazing that there is more wreckage here after 70 years than there was from flight 93 on 9/11 or indeed from the 'plane' that alledgedly struck the Pentagon!! Nice work folks btw... stirling modern archaeology!

  • is the plane all in peices or is there a main structure left? id love to know more about this find! brillant work!

  • Well done Brendan!

  • Brilliant piece of footage. Congrats to Johnny McNee and his team. Does anyone know if there are plans to publish something about the aircraft, pilot or its recovery, in addition to the pending BBC programme?.I'm thinking in terms of a book.

  • @traynorm66 Really glad you liked the video! Thanks. I'm not too sure if anything like that will be done other than the One Show will have a piece about it. But I do know of some videos on Youtube about the Eagle Squadrons, which is who the pilot of this plane would have flown with. We also recorded the BBC News piece on the tv a few days ago. I will send you links to the videos about the Eagle Squadrons.
