If you know anyone in the restaurant business and want to ruin their day, just mention that you heard that an inspector is in the area and might stop in. Heath inspector or fire inspector, doesn't matter which.
This place was really a country club.( if you look at the arched sign Polly and Manuel are walking toward down the driveway.)....unfortunately it burned down in 1991....very sad..
Now just hear me out... I know this is going to sound kind of strange, but I think this episode inspired Cleese's writing of "A Fish Called Wanda." And after that, he made "A Lemur Called Rollo...."
Or as it was called in the US and the UK, "Fierce Creatures."
Basil's reaction to the health inspector sniffing the meat is priceless. "Shall I get you the wine list?" "Ah, Sybil, this gentleman has just opened the self-service department."
LMAO at the Major with the gun and Basil thinking he said "Germans" instead of "vermin" ... or maybe to him, they're the same thing. "Not legal anymore, murder."
@leedjarv Yeah, that was a running gag, the sign is messed up at the beginning of every episode... let's see... "Watery Fowls", "Flay Otters"... my favorite is "Flowery Twats"
they dont make comedies like these anymore :( modern comedy is nothing compared to the greats like Fawlty Towers, Only Fools & Horses, The Two Ronnies ect... :) where would we be without them? :)
"'Black magic', my mother says", "Well, she'd know, wouldn't she? Her and that cat", "You have rats in Spain don't you? Or did Franco have them all shot?", "Shall I get you the wine list?", "Yes, say no more", "Otherwise, ok?", "Fithy Towers, eh?", "No, do you have a copy? I'll read it out in court!", "No, no, is chostelerol", "Pigeon! Pigeon! Like your English", "Is my hamster. Pi-ge-on", "I love heeem", "Special subject: the bleeding obvious", "You're domesticated. You do all right" hahaha :D
@jonnyrisas I remember John Cleese explaining that American comedy has to have a punchline, while British comedy doesn't need one to give you the giggles :D
