Israel may use them for a few times to save its spokespersons from embarrassing himself on TV, but if these same excuses keep coming out again and again, the world would no longer take Israel at its words. Also, if Hamas did fire at Israel from U.N. facilities, it is A WAR CRIME and there must be prosecutions. But if Israel fire at U.N. facilities, in retaliation or otherwise, it is also A WAR CRIME because it knows that there are U.N. personnel inside.

So Mark Regev asked:'how are you going to get independent information when Hamas runs the ground there?' Well, the simple answer is to send a U.N. team to investigate, because an Israeli internal investigation ( Israel investigating itself ) isn't really as independent as Mark Regev would like the world to believe, right? So, it is time for Israel to abandon the ' we are investigating' , ' it's a combat situation' , ' fog of war' and 'how are you going to investigate with Hamas in power' tactic.

Well, Mark Regev has got the answer to that question! He simply dismissed the idea of an independent inquiry by saying: ' how does one really do an objective inquiry if Hamas controls the ground?' and then he went on to give the lame analogy by citing North Korea. So, does Mark Regev meant to say that because Hamas 'controls the ground', Israel thus has no choice but to give up the idea of an independent inquiry? And that the world has no alternatives but to rely on an Israeli investigation??

Also, Mark Regev sounds as though he is justifying the loss of civilian lives with the concept of the 'fog of war', and 'it's a combat situation'. When asked if he would support an independent probe into the strike, he gave yet another classic response: ' we are conducting our own inquiry'. Given the poor record of Israel's own internal investigations, how is Israel to be trusted to investigate itself in a fair and transparent manner?

But, when asked why Israel would strike at a U.N. facility, assuming Hamas did fire at Israeli soldiers from/ near the facility, even though Israel knew what the consequences would be ( i.e. civilians would inevitably get killed), Mark Regev gave a classic reply: ' Have you heard of the concept of fog of war?!', 'It's a combat situation'. Hmm.. who was the one who just said that Israel had the co-ordinates of U.N. facilities?

If you listen to Mark Regev's explanation carefully, you would find inconsistencies in his weak argument. First of all, as usual, he blamed Hamas ( which I strongly condemn for targeting Israeli civilians) for 'turning the U.N. facility into a battle zone' and claimed confidently that Israeli soldiers 'were receiving fire from Hamas' and thus they 'return fire with fire'. When asked if Israel had the co-ordinates of U.N. facilities in Gaza, he said 'yes'.
