When you think of gas powered cars they are a inefficient, a lot of the energy that gas produces is lost as heat.

But on the other-hand electrical cars although more efficient with their energy (more of the energy is used to make the car move, rather then being lost as heat), batteries are still incapable of storing enough current to power cars for long enough.

Super-Capacitors are more likely to be able to provide a solution, as they charge quickly

The real answer is new forms of mass transit. Bullet trains crisscrossing the country could ferry people and the cargo that would drastically reduce not just the traffic on out roads, but the amount of oil we use. Diesel meanwhile could work VERY well while alternatives such as hydrogen can be put in to wide spread use. Diesel is REMARKABLY efficient. Diesel engines last MUCH longer, and they make good power. Hybrids and electric cars are NOT the answer.

Waste disposal is cheap by American standards. All the waste that has ever been created by American nuclear reactors is still at the reactor site, being contained in large pools of water. The idea was to put all the waste in Yucca Mountain, but politics in this country have stopped that.

This waste you speak of still contains ~93% usable uranium. Other countries laugh at us because its like we're eating the banana peel and throwing away the banana.

The real question of waste in the United States is whether or not we should be reprocessing our waste to recover the remaining usable uranium. France for instance supplies their country with 80% electricity by NP. The reason they can sustain this is because they reprocess their spent fuel. America needs to follow their example.

Do you know how much the utilities (powerplants) pay for the disposal of spent nuclear fuel? It's about 0.1cent per kwh produced. The utilities have been paying this for 30 years and still have not been rendered any long term storage service for the waste.

What Americans call "waste" is what the Europeans call unused energy. The solution is to reprocess our SNF like FRANCE

Michael Moore has known his whole life that documentarians don't get the attention they deserve. He devoted a whole acceptance speech to it at the Academy Awards. He's talking like he just realized its a very small audience out there.

He should keep making them for those who want to see his movies. Like you, for example.

I don't think they made mistakes. I think they accomplished exactly what they set out to do. People at the top enriched themselves at all cost and detriment to the company which hosted them and have moved on. A lot of people became unemployed, promises were broken, unions made villains, but that is something that just happens apparently. I don't think there is/was any real consequence for the top folks at GM, quite the opposite.

I've worked for General Motors and can tell you first hand, their union workers are SPOILED!!!! And they're WAY OVER PAID!!!!

what about their ceos? You think he is worth it? You think upper management is worth what they are paid? The workers build the product and they sit on their big white asses in meetings with catered food and then fly around the world in a corporate jet and take their families on all expense paid vacations - only the best for them - Are you so stupid you think they pay for healthcare - or have co-pays or high deductibles? Do you know what % of their salary is compared to workers?

I know how shady the CEO's are! I also know that the union workers job is an extremely social one and I also know the union workers at the GM Tech center only work about 1.5 hrs. for every 8 that they're paid! Do the math on that!!!! That means they only actually earn $42 per day when they are actually paid $234 per day!!!!!

Have you ever worked in a Big 3 plant? I've been in all of them both here and in Canada (Canadians are even more spoiled) and I can tell you that they only make cars and trucks that have been ordered. Why have I been in so many plants? Because the American auto companies all order the cheapest, shittiest parts and components they can find. BTW, my husband works for GM and I know FOR FACT, he gets paid to nap, eat and play on the computer!!!!!
