top of the range is Yamaha Grandtouch digital piano. a small acoustic grand will sound like crap. a tall upright sounds better than small grand

@markmarktarmann dude,if i didn't have my electric piano, i probabaly wouldn' play (BY FAR) as good as i play now because my family and all the neigbours in the flat would have lost their nerves because of all the late night hours of practice. So the electric pianos do have a reason, but it definitely can't be compared to a Steinway, played 2 in my life, best musical moments ever, go check out my channel if you wanna see! ;-)

sound´s like an electronic piano to my ears, totally different from a real one. Play Debussy "Clair de Lune" and you´ll listen it lacks something. On a real piano, every time you play a note it sounds different, even if you play on the same force. Here, as on sample pianos, they sound alike.

Good Digital piano but nothing compared to the Kawai MP10. The Kawai's hammer action is THE MOST similar to the real thing, and also the sound is much better than the Roland. And it's way way cheaper...

The AvantGrand is some serious piece of work. Yamaha has just announced the AvantGrand N1 which will be priced around $6000 or $7000, should be competition for Roland.

I've played this V-piano several times now and it is quite remarkable in many aspects and I was surprised with the rich quality of the sound. That said, you HAVE to have powerful speakers (not included)...so let's add another $800-$1,000 for them. Then, it's a STAGE piano, so if you want a nice looking 'piano' in your home/apt, this is fairly ugly (not everyone plays gigs on the road), and lastly..Don't even think of comparing it to ANY Steinway, Yamaha or Bosendorfer grand. That is a joke

I will also add, yes....this is NOT sampled sound, it is modified or ALTERED sound. SO in effect, one could argue that is it not even a true PIANO sound at all, but something all together different. That is good........BUT it could be bad. It is good in that it is unique and creates dynamics of piano sound that are new, but by that definition, it ceases to be a real PIANO any longer and something different. I actually prefer the Supernatural Roland sound-sampled yes, real piano sound....yes.
