  • What an awesome character you have!

  • This is my 3rd day with Bell's Palsy. When I woke up tuesday morning, I was freaking out, because I thought I had a stroke. It makes me feel pretty sad, and I hope I recover. Thanks for posting these videos. Best wishes.

  • This has happened to me for a couple years no, every so often. I hate it but what can ya do? lol

  • @PereiraSiddharth - try Beta Glucan and Resveratrol. An affordable product is available at AntiPalsy (dot) com for only $39 per month.

  • I was very lucky and have no noticeable residual effects. Bells Palsy is a result of inflammation of the facial nerve. I found a very affordable natural product that treats the source of inflammation. A combination of Beta Glucan and Resveratrol.

  • Great that you documented this.

  • I'm going thru my second bout. Was good in 2 weeks when I first got it. It recurred about 2 weeks ago with less sever affects as the first time. This time my mouth is numb tho and the taste in my mouth is like coming outta the dentist with the novacaine. Its subsiding tho! Glad your better!

  • During the period of time that I couldn't close my eye, I would use a band-aid to tape it closed - manually closing the eyelid. otherwise I would wake in the morning with a very dry eye and having to put in eye drops. I'm all better now - thankfully!

  • if u cant close the other eye, how can you sleep ?

  • @RatedRAli when i had it i just fell asleep on the side my face i had it on!!!

  • It just hit me - I started feeling a little strange late in the afternoon one day and woke up the next morning like this.

  • @brianmerrit1 That'show it started with me, too. I felt a tingly sensation underneath my left ear (where the facial nerve stems from) but I didn't think much of it. The next day, I woke up with the left side of my face paralyzed. Since then, I can blink fine, eat, close my eyes but I still feel weakness on that side and my smile is very crooked. I'm very self conscious about my smile. Did you smile ever straighten out? Does the weakness ever go away?

  • so if you got in a fight and you got hit in the face....you wouldnt feel it?

  • @crazyhiho Of course you would feel it. Just because you don't have motor control doesn't mean you are numb.

  • @brianmerrit1 oh okay, thanks for clearing that up.

i was just hoping that maybe bells palsy has an upside to it.

  • @crazyhiho your facial muscles for making facial expressions are controlled by cranial nerve 7, your sense of touch, pain, etc on the surface of the face is controlled by cranial nerve 5--the small exception being the chewing muscles which are controlled by a branch of cranial nerve 5. the problem he has with food getting stuck between his gums and teeth on the affected side is because the buccinator muscle of the cheek is controlled by cranial nerve 7.

  • It's Kind Of A Free Botox Session But Just In One Side Of The face...=)

Honestly You Are Wrinkle Free Almost On The Side Of The Face That Your Paralized!=)

  • my dad got this and i hate it bc i cant look at him with out crying bc i no that i cant do anything about it.

  • danmm 60 days Brian !? Mine started only on Monday! Anyways I found it pretty funny (well not that funny) that all the little tricks you had and also the shower thing it took me 2 days to realize them but... thanks for your video tho it actually gives me hope that it will go away! Hey B don't forget to mention to correctly hydrate the eye too!! It really helps!

  • I got Bell's Palsy three years ago and it is better but still not completly recovered. my smile is not equal Most people say that it recovers for them in a couple of months how come it's not? do you know?

  • Yes, exactly what medications did you take? I got bells palsy 2 days ago and was put on Medrol (steriod) pack for 6 days and an antiviral for 3 days. Then ER just told me to follow up with my regular doctor. My eye is sore so I wear a patch during the day on and off to force it to close and rest. also wear a patch at bedtime. Also they said to use artificial tears.

  • try this combination of Beta Glucan and Resveratrol at AntiPalsy (dot) com

  • hi!! just wanna ask , what medication did you take when you cured your bells palsy?

  • a geneticist .... what college or U are you attending ?

  • sry for the late reply i've been busy ehh ya i'm still in high school

  • Ive had it for a little over a week..the prednisone helped the most but my prescription wasnt that many days..but i've replace that with b12 and acyclovir im seeing improvements and i can whistle a little bit now

  • 16 O_O didn't notice there was a gap that big between our age xD

  • in that last comment i meant to ask you are you in school or not ..... not saying that why aren't you in school like that xD ( forgot to put this ( , ) right after why

  • yeah ... why aren't you ?? btw whats your age?

  • a guy xD i didn't notice you were a girl right until you told me your name (but i just had to make sure O_O )

  • sounds more of a girls name to me though (if your a guy ..... just sry then xD )

  • ooo well then i would like to know your name too

  • i did ask the doctor and he was a little astonished himself but he said it will maybe go away 2 months later ( i ask him a month ago ) and i could really see the progress its coming every once a week only now but he said it will eventually stop

  • OMG i've just noticed we're the only one1s chatting in this whole comment page xD ohh i forgot to state that i do have 1 problem that won't go away since the bell's palsy .... it's my eye , i won't stop crying?? well basically i'm not crying but my eye excretes water every once or twice a day but i've grown use to it

  • my name?? it's shalveen (kinda awkward i know)

anyway why would you want to know my name anyway

  • actually any pain caused by my bell's palsy was relieved a month before i recovered of something i really don't remember much it was like a year a go ..... ( i still remember though my doctor tried to scared me that if i didn't used the eyedrops every a couple of hours i could go blind !! [cuz at the time i could barely close my eyelid] damn that doctor xD)

  • by the way what did your doctor suggest you to do and what medicine did he gave u?

  • when after a couple of days went by when i had the bell's palsy i had gain a little control over my right side of my face but when i try to force to move my face it kinda hurt at my the bottom of my ear (and above the part where you can check someones pulse near the neck)but when i exclaim the pain to my doctor he suggested to eat either pain pills or steroids * there are two type of steroids my doctor said you can ask your doctor because i lose interent when i was healed xD hope that help

  • its just need some time to recover my bell's palsy took 2 months to recover and i was 15 at the moment ..... my doctor said the older you are or the more unhealthy you are like in the antibody sector the longer it will last but don't worry it will surely recover no doubt about it ........... if you want to be healthier faster then eat something healthy or take some proper vitamins

  • have u tryed a cranial chiropractor?

  • I admire you. I am studying to be an SLP and am learning about motor disorders. Good luck to you!

  • I admire and appreciate your courage!

  • Thanks for doing these videos, I literally thought I was gonna die when i was diagnosed with this, but now I can see that it's nothing too serious.

  • Flu Vaccines

  • I got it too. Doctor said cause could be due to viral attack to the nerve that control facial muscle. Sudden low of immunune system due to STRESS, is my case. Im taking rest, Vit B comples, multivitamins and doctor prescribe steroid to make me normal fast. As I wait for my nerve to function again.. good facial massage is needed so my face wont get stiff or sag.

  • wow i just got back today and found out i had bell's palsy! it sucks, but i feel alot better now about having it. thank you for posting this

  • I'm 23 and this is my 2nd day with Bell's Palsy. Its very ANNOYING to deal with. You can't really tell I have it, but i'm really worried about having to go to work with it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it goes away within the next few days...

  • on my 3rd day atm.

my condition isn't even remotely as bad as this guy tho. I might not recover too fast but honestly, apart from chewing and sleeping with an eye-patch it's not that bad.

I wish you guys the best of luck in the process of recovering.

  • I just found out I have this. I'm on my second day. However, I only have partial paralysis. I'd say I've lost about 45% of my muscle movement.

  • im on day 2 :D

  • I'm on Day 8 right now myself.... seem to be on about the same pace as you were at this time.

  • i have bell's palsy too. i got it like 3 days ago. it is.. really uncomfy. im 17 btw lol. thanks for sharing this.

  • ok will i so called got BP i can say every word right i just cant move my left side of my face.. and blink so they gave me medicine.. will BP on my left side go away? i mean i can see i can talk right i just cant do anything on the left side of my face

  • Every case is a little different. Some people get over BP in a matter of days while other people will still have lingering side effects for 10 or more years. In my case, I was completely over it in about 60 days total.

  • I had bell palsy when i was 17, had it for close to 2 months, the doctor prescribed steroids for it to heal the face back. i feel bad for the people that have it for life, cause it's a real bitch, i hated how you couldn't pronounce words, and eating was a big thing for me. i remember when i first got it my friend was on the phone with the hospital and i tried to drink some juice, and what a sate i made, juice all over me... everyone made fun for the longest time.

  • Dang I recently had that and still kind of do. All my friends were freaking out over it

  • Besides the whole not being able to properly utilize half of my face thing, Bell's Palsy is NO BIG DEAL.

  • Yes, everyone got a big kick out of making fun of me for a while... but they soon got used to it and then it gradually went away.

  • hallo

  • i have this i woke up with it on monday

not a bad as wat this guy had at the start

  • what did you us

  • I just found out that I got BP as well at least I think so since I have the same symptoms. My left side of the face is paralyzed 90%. I have difficulty blinking, but I can still close my eye. I just started taking Apo-Prednisone 5MG tablets. I have medication for 8 days. I'm very very nervous and scared now. I'm scared that my eye will stay droopy permenantly. God bless us. To my knowledge no one in my family had BP before.

  • You are welcome, I was very luck that I came across a product that worked for me. It appears that BP is caused by inflamation that pinches a nerve. If you can reduce the inflamation safely it will totally disappear. I really should do another follow-up video to show you that I have totally recovered.

  • Yes, you are right. Eating has become rather an ordeal for me! lol And the holding my lip thing is something I just discovered today. Helps quite a bit! You mentioned the sun and squinting, but you forgot the wind. Wind can play havoc with your eye, too. I've been thinking maybe some sunglasses or something could help me, as even the air conditioning in my office messes with my eye to the point that it is distracting.

  • I guess you are right about the wind. If I can just offer one suggestion, it would be to try taking the same product that I did - Ageless Extra by Univera as soon as possible. Within 10 days most of my symptoms were totally gone and I understand that the longer you take before starting a treatment, the longer it will take to recover. Call my friend Mark to order some product at 503-803-2260

  • sir..hi i'am from phil...got BP..for almost 1year..is their any profuct here in the phil?...hope you can help me.,.thnks for posting your video..

  • I was lucky a friend intoduced me to Ageless Extra - it is truely amazing how it cleared it up in a matter of a few weeks. Call Mark at 503-803-2260. Hope that helps.

  • Can you feel anything?

  • The one side of the face was numb as if I went to the dentist. Of course I could feel pressure and sensitive to hot and cold, but any other sensation was gone.

I'm glad that is over. I'm doing very well now.

  • Oh, that's terrible. I'm very happy you're doing better!

  • glad to hear that your doing well

  • I thoroughly enjoyed your video. I experienced same same same same same. Cool that even watching your video I felt like I was healing. You did great. Blessings.

  • i got bells palsy in the summer and it took me a little over 3 weeks to fully recover

  • I am glad you got better! I had that too and it took me about 4 months to go back to normal. After 10 months I still feel it on my left eye, but so far so good. Glad you shared the video!

    Have a great 2009!

    Ana Paula

  • at least it makes you look 10 years younger on one side lol

  • I had Bell's Palsy, it doesn't hurt but it's very uncomfortable.

  • Continuing again..(Sorry for the long post)

My worry is that I don't see any sort of STEROID in the doctor's prescription. I'm afraid my friend might be getting a neglectful prescription.

From what I've read in the posts made by the wonderful Youtube community, when it comes to treating Bell's palsy time is of the essence, so I urgently need to know if there would be any danger in using steroids along with Tegretol?

P.S. My friend does not have Trigeminal Neuralgia, of that I am very sure.

  • Continuing with my post...

My friend was soon sent to a clinic where he had various sorts of scans, MRI, urine/blood tests, etc. Finally, the doctor sent him home and prescribed him with Tegretol ONLY.

Tegretol turns out to be an anticonvulsant, which works by decreasing nerve impulses that cause seizures and pain. So if I understand correctly Tegretol is a sort of analgesic meant to treat nerve pain. Continue...

  • My best friend has got Bell's palsy 5 days ago on 25 September 2008.

I'm not sure what the precise cause of his palsy was, but I suspect that as he was having a panic attack (under a huge stress and tiredness) one of the arteries that runs through the brain near the cerebellum got swollen and touched/rubbed/pressed on the 7th Cranial nerve. I'm not sure if the artery also touched or pressed on the Trigeminal nerve but I think not. That was the scenario 5 days ago. Continue...

  • I am in my first week with BP. Here's a suggestion for showering... get you a nice pair of Speedo swimming goggles and keep them in the shower. They are airtight and work like a charm. I also keep a bottle of artificial tears in my pocket at all times. My biggest problem is working. I am a graphic artist and really depend on my eyesight, which is frankly, very undependable at this point. Good luck to you and hang in there. That's what I'll do. On the up side, I do a great pirate, now!

  • God bless you and your family sir. I wish you the best and I hope you recover. I have Bell's Palsy, but luckily it's very mild and should clear up in a few weeks. Thank you for showing people the truth of this disorder. I'm taking a few supplements, like Vitamin B12, it's pretty effective. Again, thank you for posting these vids. =/ (my Bell's Palsy smile) lol

  • i have this right now and it was going quite well untill after the 5th day when it actually got worse has this happend to anyone else?

  • I tried acupuncture and the steroids the doctor prescribed, but nothing really made a significant difference until I started taking Ageless Extra. It is a product of Univera. I am now completely over the bp and have absolutely no lingering issues.

  • I had it over 4 years ago. It went away within a week, but I still sometimes get some symptoms like twitching, a bit of a slur, drooling in my sleep, runny eye, and skin breaking out with a bit of a rash (not sure if that's directly related, but they started around the same time) I was initially told it was stress related, but I soon found out it is viral.

  • Hi, I just got BP 5 days ago and have the same thing as you on the right side of my face. I'm trying to be patient but am really freaked out right now. My eye will not shut so i have to tape it closed. Is this what you had too with your eye? or were you able to close your eye at all? I was wondering if that is a more serious case or not as far as healing goes.

I started the Acylovir on the first day of onset and cortizone shot the following day.

Hope you're well Any help much appreciate

    Thanks

  • ive got it twice went a way in a week

is it posible to get 3 times

  • i just got bells palsy..thanks for the support ..any other good tips?

  • I got it yesterday. Saw a specialist today. They gave me predinsone(cortisole), apperently that's somewhat helpfull. We'll see who it progresses. How about you?

  • its been a more then a week and im seeing progress tho took the steriods now im just chewing gum and taking vitamins

  • It's been two weeks now. Mine is nearly gone now. I can blink and I look normal. Some problems smiling fully etc though. My trick has been alot of cortisol and alot of beer, I found blinking alot easier when drunk.

  • drunk?

  • Thats very interesting that you only have wrinkles on that side of your face!
