The same thing happened to me at the Andrews Air Force Base air show, with the Blue Angels. All but one of the jets came past us, in front--not much sonic boom. But that missing jet came up from our rear and overhead, then BOOM! Fucking made me jump eleven feet in the air! But I have to tell you, lightning is a different beast. I came within ten feet of one, when I was twelve. The BOOM from that fried my insides. With a jet, its just noise. With lightning ... well, you figure the rest.
Tis is kind of like an airshow in Hillsboro, Oregon I went to a few months ago (completly different, but read on). I was just watching the Thunderbirds go by, not so fast, fairly quiet. Then out of nowhere, another F-16 comes at the speed of sound, right over the distracted crowd, and shakes everyone up. The 5-10 sonic booms before that were fairly quiet, but this seemed SOOO loud! Scared the s*** out of me! I'm sure most airshows do that too. Nice video. Completly unexpected.

Incredibly extremely close CG-strike seen at '2:41' and so close...just check out the area on the ground burst into flame set by the lightning...the smoke can then be used to show the wind-direction...Extremely closeby CG-strike while chasing the wall-cloud/tornado...yikess...!!!

Yes there was some hail, but it wasnt spectacular enough for tv so they just took a few and made a big one out of that and then act like they found it in some field which STRANGLY enough doesnt have a single other hailstone lying there.

cq6969, The weird looking clouds you see are known as Fractus clouds. They often form in a warm and humid layer of strong thunderstorms on the edge of rain cooled air. When a column of rain pours down in an area, it kicks around and mixes the muggy air in all sorts of directions...These coulds will then form in that mixing air. They usually are quite low to the ground, and look ominous, but pose no danger...unless they are rotating, in that case TAKE COVER!!
